Hey there. Ya know, that's a good question and I needed to research a bit (while jogging my own memory) to find this answer. Years ago I remember purchasing the first 'Scene It?' game on the 360 (Lights, Camera, Action) that included 4 color-coded controllers in some bundle pack. Although I haven't used these gizmos in a while, I do recall getting some decent time in with these gamepads after that title's release. From what I can recall (hmm, I should really dig them out again), the controllers function in a pretty limited sense overall and are strictly optimal for a game like 'Scene It' and other various party games from this era.
Honestly, you would (most likely) need to grab a regular 360 gamepad if you were looking for "full functionality / use" in other games or even the 360's dashboard.... a decent controller that includes analog sticks, triggers, etcetera. These party pads have (I believe) sketchy directional pad use and a few face buttons (A, B, X, Y) at best. Plus, they need an included "sensor" to even work properly. Anyhow, I suppose you could always get intuitive and somehow make these work for other purposes, but a standard 360 gamepad is unquestionably the way to go. All in all, 'Box Office Smash' is still the preeminent 'Scene It' experience out of the four released on the 360 (including the XBLA one) during this time period.
      Take Care. :)
