If incubus is my first love, Deftones are a very close second! I have been a huge fan of theirs since 1999/2000, right before White Pony came out. I loved this song then and I still love it to this day, it's an absolute banger of a track and I had so much fun trying to get the tone for this one.
I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out 😁

Great to see Deftones on the channel Nick! Around the Fur is one of my favorites them and has a ton of great riffing. I know Stephen Carpenter uses 7 strings a lot, so I was really impressed to see you do this on 6.
Thanks Brett! It’s one of my favourite albums too 😁👍🏻. I think he only moved to 7 strings on their self titled album. Around the fur is drop C# and I believe white pony was drop C before he then switched to 7s (and later 8s!).

Thank you! Be quiet and drive will definitely be coming soon. I’d love to cover rocket skates as it’s a beast of a song. However, covering deftones gets tricky after the white pony era as Steph started using 7 strings and I believe for rocket skates, I’d need an 8 string 😩😅

Thanks Roy, it really is! Not necessarily, I’m using a plug-in to detune my guitar on this one - so my Ibanez is in drop D and the plug-in drops it one semi tone to drop C# 😁👍🏻. You could do the same with something like the Digitech Drop as a hardware unit example 🤘🏻
