Goldie is not overrated, respect is absolutely due, and if you think not go back to the "Terminator", even Riders Ghost which was very unusual for the time, and still is, look at the year, then listen to everything that was out that year and prior, then you will understand his genius! His music is vision inspired, and though DNB at it's core tends to exceed its general boundaries , which may or may not go over some peoples heads! but in my opinion he's a great visionary in music and is to be applauded for his contribution.

Things that stood out to me in this vid. There was a jungle award in mainstream awards? Awesome! But then The comments section here has so hate towards golide like he isn't deserving? simply due to the fact metalheadz is still running and the sound they push is uncompromisingly metalheadz is testament alone to what he has created and still does for dnb scene. I think the fact he is still relevant and his label is at the forefront of the underground culture solidifies he was deserving of this award 👏

Drum & Bass is such a broad genre. Aphex Twin and Squarepusher aren't Drum & Bass. They may have leaned into it a bit but they're just their own unique thing really

I have been a Goldie/metalheads purist since around 95 and I wish the dnb scene was bigger here in the states,but at the same time I don't want to see it watered down. much love to to all of the dnb producers and dj's all over...hope to visit London 1 day

mBeat is actually more jungle then Alex Reese and Goldie as they are both more drum and bass and maybe mbeat would have won if they didnt use the crappy jamiroquai tune that real jungle heads didnt buy

This is true. Worked for Renk records back in the day. MBeat was definetly knocking out jungle tunes even before Incredible with General Levy was a 'hit'. Goldie, Alex Reese etc etc pushed that music on into what became known as DnB although both styles were/are inextricably linked together.
that choon was liquid funk & a great way to shift the floor as 1st disc on the table & progress from there. I played it in unions & other venues that wouldn't accept dnb/jungle ffs even a few weddings

Rob Playford, Source Direct, A Guy Named Gerald, Omnitrio, LTJ Bukem, Alaska, Seba etc; the list goes on. They are all legends. It just so happens that Goldie is considered the Godfather of DnB. Nobody said he was the greatest. If you don't like him, then you don't like him, but he is not overrated, goofy.
