While looking through some inventory at my local Salvage Auction, I found a Random Dodge Hellcat Charger being sold by an insurance company as a total loss vehicle. It looks like an easy fix, and there's no airbag deployment. There's also burned cars, a few nice Mercedes V8 cars, BMW, Tesla, boats, motorhome, trucks, and jet skis. vTuned Garage tells us about how long it would take to repair and we estimate how much it would cost to rebuild

Sams lawn is looking similar to a copart auction site 🤣
Sam should hold an auction and get rid of all the bullshit in his yard.
It is turning into a mini Copart!
Yes, a dream come true.
and mine looks like a scrap metal pile.
Copart does not have green grass
I think you are on point with the hellcat assessment, if you can have Ben involved and do what he does best, the content and fun you will have with the car would be worth it 👌
Excellent, thank Mick from all of us, what an awesome collection. I would be happy to see any of them!! So many memories from growing up with the not-cosworth versions of these cars!!
I personally find it extremely helpful when you walk us through your thought process when assessing the costs to repair a salvage car. It's such an important part of the bidding / valuation process and your experience is super valuable. Thanks for sharing!
After Sam sees the Range Rover: "I don't need to do it"
But Sam next episode be like: "Just bought a white Range Rover with front damage"
"They won't attempt to drive it because they don't want to cause any more damage".
Then they pick it up with a forklift and scrape and bend parts on the underside, and sometimes damage the bumpers.
Exactly! My Camry bumper is screwed!
Every time....I don't understand why
@@trentdawg2832 Samcrac just received a Audi with a big dent on the top of the rear quarter that wasn't there when he won it. The delivery driver document the damage before he picked it up. It was damaged at CoPart, but they take no responsibility.
What I really loved, was the Classic car that was right behind you at the end of this video. I wish that you would rebuild any Classic Car. Love your videos.
I had bought a dodge magnum at an auction. Front in smashed in. Got the car for $500, Arizona auctions are the best. After all said and done I only payed 1000. But had to get a bentley grill due to no grills were found for the magnum and they didnt want to wait to long for it to come in from the factory. That car atill runs amazing 9 years later. Auction cars may look like theyll cost a lot. Bt they can save ore money than buying a new car. You have given great advice and I really like that you have someone who can give enough on body work and all the great calculations you give. Keep up the great work.
My Cadillac ELR has electronic doors and like some other Corvettes, can be manually opened from the trunk. Use the key inside the fob to open the trunk and look for a cable below the back deck.
Great video Sammy
V-tune does some awesome work, I have seen the amazing work he did on the Track Hawk from Goonsquade and it came out looking good and body lines were perfect. I would love seeing him work on that hellkitty. 😁👍
*What about that 32 Ford baby blue at the end? that would have been AN AWESOME old school hot rod to fix up and super easy to restore too parts are everywhere for that thing* aside from that the hell cat charger was your best bet for a solid money maker repair
Your ads are far better than anyone elses!!! I love watching you sell the sponsors products!
I had a C6 vette a decade ago. To open the door with a dead battery, slide the key out of the key fob and insert it near the top of the license plate under the trunk lip and twist to open the hatch. In the trunk on the left hand side by the fender well is a cable connected to the door. Pull cable back towards the rear of the car and door will pop open.
i started watching Vtuned because of stuff on your channel before - he's an awesome channel to follow! glad to see more collab's with him!
Now watch Goonzquad - same set up as VTuned and he's on their channel all the time but it's even better. Check out their AWD Police Charger rebuild - it's epic.
@@mikebrowne477 I've tried them a few times...ill stick to Vtuned and Sam, thanks :-)
@@DnDXB9 They have over 2 million subscribers. They at least finish all their builds and do all the work other than the frame stuff, including the painting, themselves. But OK.
@@mikebrowne477 again, i've heard of them. i've watched them a few times. i don't watch channels based on how many subs they have haha! thanks for the lesson in sheep mentality. I just prefer the content that Sam and Vtuned put out. Not saying they are bad, just saying they aren't for me.
@@DnDXB9 Sometimes a lot of people watch things because they are good. Honestly I found it on my own and so has most people.
C6 and C7 have key holes above the license plate. Turn the key, it pops the hatch and you can access the manual door release.
That truck on the lift at the start was a 2019 Ford f-150 about 2 weeks ago, something made noise under the hood then it erupted into flames have pics if interested
was it yours?
@@yungtooli Nope happened in Georgia and i saw it via the state troopers post , it didnt even have 10k miles lol
With the Corvette having an electronica door switch there is a manual key slot in the trunk when you open the trunk there is also additional door latches to pop open the doors manually
Glad I didn't skip past the ad, I would've missed that fire 2 chainz impression
On corvettes you can use the actual key to open the lift gate then there are pull tabs on the sides that you can pull to open the doors.
Anyone else here more interested in that blue vintage roadster at the end of the video? Wish he had a peek at that one...
at about 30:30 Agreed. That looks like a good project. It will probably be cheap to purchase, then customized to Sam's hearts content.
Looks like it got a cowl vent, a '32? The passenger door skin is missing - fiberglass?
Sam always ignores the really cool cars
Gregg R Groff
No, Sam goes for the cars with good resell values. That roadster would sell for around 7k in good condition.
@@seanwilks7712 like Range Rovers? 😂
I saw a Carolina blue rat rod project in the background that looks like it would be fun and different. You can go a lot of directions with a project like that.
Hey Sam I missed these auction yard walk arounds man. You should do more of these
You could go to the Tampa Machinery auction and buy a charger cop car for parts and repair the hellcat.
In the uk salvage yards have lots of combine harvesters. They catch on fire often because of the straw.
Funny, you never really think about the cost of farming. Half a million dollars in one single piece of equipment, with marginal returns is mind blowing! I’ve been a diesel mechanic the last 45 years, and can definitely relate to having the right tools.
They catch fire here because of the insurance.
@1st LAR 2147 They can afford such expensive machinery partly because of humongous farm subsidies, which is exactly the "communism" and "welfare" stuff these people rail against and vote against so loudly.
They catch on fire if they never get cleaned out. I spent a few summers bagging grass seed and cleaning combines, and I can tell you they get DIRTY. Inside they get completely covered and caked with grass dust, and that shit easily catches fire. Using one for long periods of time without washing or blasting it out, you're lookin at a rollin bonfire.
Salvage auction etiquette: feel free to remove tape/wrap if you can do so carefully and replace it when finished. Considering all the tampering and lying that goes on at Copart (both by Copart and some of its members), it is critical to inspect cars properly before bidding. Tape and wrap are less important than getting screwed over.
By the way, nice editing and some genuinely funny parts in this video!
The Rover will give you decent ROI if you can source the headlamps used. They run about $3000 each from the dealer.the rest looks to be magnesium front end, intercooler, condenser, radiator, impact bar, bumper cover.
I just bought a 2013 r spec genesis with 44k miles for 12900. Great car getting shipped to tampa from VA
Funny shit i used to work for COPART OUT IN SUFFOLK STRONG ISLAND..LOVED IT
I would get the light blue 1932 ford roadster you parked your golf cart by when you did your closing. Can't believe that was there.
Loved the video, great job 👏 but just couldn't get past the hat!. Keep up the good work! And Go DAWGS!!
How could you not even mention the Model A hot rod...
Right?...that thing was beautiful ...
Let those old cars die already
@@Chris-hw4mq OK Millennial.
@@Chris-hw4mq I would rather drive a gas guzzling hot-rod than a mixer on wheels known as the tesla.
I was thinking the same thing
Most informative car flipper! THANK YOU!
I love my Hellcat man. I enjoy it more than the Corvette. 717hp of pure joy!!
but they no c63 amg :)
But in the end...it's still a Chrysler... fast or not
enjoy your vacation randy!
@@dlhgov I loved that c63 man. I'd dump my vette for that in a heartbeat!!!
Lucky you :D
love this kind of content, but only from you sam!
I'd like to have seen the little blue 32 hotrod behind the golf cart.
Oh yeah. Sam, how did you not mention that?
@@IlliterateSage FR. WTF Sam?!
I’ve found many rebuilt cars and trucks in my area for really good deals. I was going to buy a rebuilt truck until I found out You can’t get full coverage insurance on them, only liability. I didn’t feel comfortable driving around in a 25 or 35 thousand dollar vehicle without full coverage insurance.
@Samcrac Can’t lie, still hurts to see my baby like this but awesome to be on your channel🤣 I followed the auction and believe she sold for $32k, not sure if you grabbed it but I look forward to seeing her fixed up. Got creamed by a kid who ran a red light in his moms beamer. (FL)🙄
Why don't you hire Vtuned to finish up your vast array of unfinished projects? He's the man!
I was going to ask where's the Rich Rebuilds joke...never fails.
Haven't you seen how the tesla fan boys got his vids booted?
I did get a 430xi - great memory! I like the SL. Scott B
Dam Sam no more Land Rover’s for the love of god lol.Great video. That’s awesome Vtuned gets his mug or name brought up in every video I’m glad he deserves it.
How much you want to that black bmw coupe in the background when you were talking in the beginning of the video?
That Honda Element behind the 7 series looks good, specially in green. 👌
The only thing a Honda Element looks good in is in flames.
@@chuckschillingvideos to each their own 🤷♂️
those go 400k miles easy
Yeah, he was looking at the POS 7 series and I'm looking at the Honda Element wondering if it's AWD.
Nice Florida Gators hat Sam! Did you go to UF?
You should get it Sam! It would make a great boat anchor, especially when you attach it to that trademarked RUclips Yacht haha
Lmfao comedian
Mr. TAMW I’ll be here all week lol. Most of my content is cheesy car humor
Sam buy the hellcat as long as it goes for under $18K. Would make a good series on the channel and seems like there would be a lot of upside if you wanted to sell at the end.
Just go for whatever YOU would enjoy rebuilding the most! Your genuine excitement is what makes every rebuild an entertaining and worth watching experience... Keep on rebuilding and we'll keep on watching them
The best part about that SL500 is the endless suspension issues. So many ABC failure modes they all cost more than it’s worth.
I like the blue hotrod behind you at the end.
Yea, that looks sweet.
Yeah, wish he looked at it
Headlamps on that Velar are $4k each. We had to replace one before for a customer plus other damage. Bill was over $12k for what seemed to be minor damage. Never buy a wrecked Range Rover unless you got a parts car handy
The new ones defo need a parts car, old ones like the 06-12 year vogue and sport are quite cheap deprecated so much easy to repair but they are unreliable
@@Ridzflips Body panels are still ridiculously expensive, but cars are more plentiful for parts
geez sam, the royal treatment at IAAI. they usually just yell at me and throw stuff at me from the giant forklift
Great video! Provided me with what i was looking for. Subscribed!
RE: the Hellcat. Do a search for a RUclips video from "Uncle Tony's Garage" (I think there were two) in which he explains what he sees as being a design flaw with the 3rd generation Hemi and why they have cam wear issues. BTW he builds race engines and is a big fan of the Dodge brand overall. With 50K miles and likely driven hard that car may be no bargain even if it goes for cheap money.
On those corvettes there is a manual door release in the trunk. You just need the key blade to open the trunk itself.
I'd go for that C7 Vette, it'll look like a million bucks when you're done with it!
What is the light blue hot rod you parked next to on the outro
The Hell cat wheels are the optional "Brass Monkey " wheels. That car had a few good options....
And then they put Nexen tires on it...
@@MatthewG1 and that's why it crashed
Hi Sam, the Hell-Cart would be a better money maker than the BMW. The Merc was nice, but most people are afraid of them because of the cost of parts and maintenance. Enjoyed the video very much.
Go for the Hellcat! Stay away from the Range Rover 😀😀. Enjoyed the walk around.
Your definition of cheap is wayyyy different than mine! Lol. I’m buying $1000 cars thinking that’s cheap. Lolol. The Crac strikes again!!! Good buy
19:45. My 2012 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 v8 currently has 224,467 miles. It’s been PHENOMENAL. I will buy another one.
The v8 is Hyundai built? Certainly lasts 5X longer than a BMW!
Patrick Broderick yes sir. In the Genesis sedan you can get the 3.8 V6 or the 5.0 v8 (2009-2012 the engine was a 4.6 v8).
The Merc had one new clean headlight and one foggy original one...but you it was hit in the front right side.
The blue 32 rod looks interesting 🤔, re the hellcat, go for it. The two proper Mercedes Benz would be worth getting.
I would love to see you buy and repair a Lamborghini Urus when the opportunity presents itself. They’re too new right now, but I hope you get the chance to do one in the future.
Samcrac: $6,500 to $10,000 on parts and labor.
Goonzquad: We don’t pay labor just $1,500 on parts.
The SL500 top has a leaking hydrolic actuator in the front locking latch . The teltel sign is the roof seal is swolen and rippled. The top is probably inop because all the fluid has leaked out. That thing is a pain to swap out ,because the lines are crimped onto the actuator. And you have to route it all the way back to the trunk floor.
Translation: My channel has made Copart too popular and I can no longer get good deals there so now I am using IAAI
350z, they removed the kit. The give away is the intakes that are unbolted and the mafs are missing. They probably had specific mafs for the turbo for the higher air flow.
Listening to Sam attempt to rap........rivals having fellow subs rip my fingernails out with pliers. ( Sam, please save my hands. Take up dancing).....lol
I been trying to get him to dance to the house music he plays in videos
@@2turbo4u Please don't. there are 1 million of us that will turn on you...lol
Some people might hate me for saying this but I really like the Hyundai’s they’re really reliable and not as expensive to fix 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ that Genesis was super nice but that quarter panel damage was really rough
I would love to have a Mustang with a Coyote motor in it, but I no longer have the drive to do a project car, all the hidden damage I find as I’m fixing it, takes the wind out of my sails.
It can get discouraging at times... Seems like theres always one thing after another!
As to the corvette, you take the Key fob and pull the little key out of it, then you head over to the rear of the car on top of the license plate there is a keyhole, you put the key in there and then the rear hatch pops up, and then there are latches on the rear to open each door.
YOURE WELCOME
Would have love to see the classic car, the blue one, in the background at the end.
The Charger and Challenger are built on the Mercedes S Class frame / platform from back when MB owned Chrysler and it has been updated since then (in 2000s)
god I wish there were places like this near where I live
Look up copart yard on your maps
Michael Cole i wish i live to rurally for anything like that to be closer than a 5 hour drive from me :( . and i dont think copart operates in Australia
Sam could you make a video explaining insuring salvage cars and what to be careful of. Great vid
Love the walk/ride around at IAA. I would be like a kid in a candy store there. I hope you bid and win something from this lot!!!
Side profile white v8. On pause. It’s aaaaaaaaaaaa G8 GT! Oh and I got the burnt impala right away 🤣 your antics are priceless Sam
😣😣
Hey Sam, this auction is really huge. Hellcat can be a really cool project and quite cheap to fix!
We haven't even see the engine codes yet, but I am pretty sure P0171 and P0174 are there. Also valve cover gasket, valve adjustment and pretty sure oil pan gasket/sump gasket need to be done. Also ditch the fan clutch and go with an SPAL fan.
Sam I’m from Scotland and it would definitely be the hellcat I love American muscle car and the hellcat is one on steroids if you seen vtune one
That Black C-7 was totaled for a reason. The frame is bent and there is no way to straighten it. Even if you could, you would never get the panel gaps to line up and doors and hood open and close properly without a lot of money spent, time, and luck.
Dude u are hilarious. “Pull up to the scene with my bumper missing” 😂
Sitting in the lambo with pannel bond lol
My personal opinion i love the hellcat, i would love to see you rebuild that :)
What's going on with the baby blue hotrod that was behind you at the end of your video?
You should buy that SL, and do a manual swap on it. I hear that's popular in your area.
Personally, I’d like to see either the Hellcat or the 430 on your channel...
Because it's soooooooooooooo very original to rebuild a salvage Hellcat.
chuckschilling LOL it is when Sam’s at the helm of the build!!
F430? S430? LS430? SC430? GS430?
I adore how you glossed over and casually skipped the "Dez Nuts" passenger seat imprint image in the video shot at 3:12.
"Spielberg Move" my man!
5:30 yeah dont cheat with us you see the GT Emblem bruhh
Frame repair where I live starts at $100 per hour.
Damn I kind of wish I learned how to be a mechanic. Oh the fun I would have rebuilding stuff.
On the corvettes, there is a key hole under the trunk lid. Then a latch to pop the door

I bought raycon through your affiliate, and I'm not disappointed:)
