What an awesome video, and so much great information and so many wonderful photographs. Thanks so much for taking the time to produce such a masterpiece! I completed my Hasselblad collection of 500cm camera and CF lenses over twenty years ago, and have just lately begun to explore the limitless possibilities as I near retirement and have six months to travel each year. Hopefully, I'll be able to share pictures like yours sometime soon. Thanks again. Ken
He was at the same school as my late best friend, though I think my friend was a year or two ahead of him. He has definitely lost his his Lancashire accent. A phenomenally talented man and I think luck has less impact than putting in the time with his camera. His view of the world as whole is wonderful, and that definitely comes through in his images. I love working in the darkroom, though I'm not very good and can only do 35mm film at the moment. I know Michael Kenna learnt his skills printing by putting many many hours in. To me he's the greatest living British photographer. Thank you for this video.
Loved the video. It is also ironic that the beauty of the islands were noticed and captured by you a foreigner while there are numerous photographers in Korea. Maybe you don't realize the beauty of your surroundings while you are close to them.....
I have the chance of visiting South Korea for three weeks in January. I think this video just added another place on my list, even though I probably won't have enough time for even a little part of this amazing group of islands!
I doubt that he will respond but in another interview Michael mentionned that his film of choice is Kodak Tri-X but he does not mind using other brands according to where he is... If only Fuji Acros is available he will use Fuji Acros.. Agfa (Rollei) etc... Hope this helps!
Probably the dreadful narration. I can't believe it is actually Michael Kenna speaking. The narration makes him sound like a simpleton. Given the depth of Kenna's photographic intent, the voice-over is asinine and insincere. A disservice to the man and his craft. An enjoyable video if it wasn't for that, and a number of those photos were sublime.
So who pays the bills to travel without a plan, or not to have goals? Just to see what’s there? I fear there is a lot of work behind the scenes unmentioned. Good images, sure. Unfortunately I fear the attitude of this video is… shall we say, “Stretched”.
Overwhelmed by his work. Thanks for such a wonderful documentary.
The man, the myth, the legend....and those images. Wow. Humbling.
Thank you Michael Kenna.
Michael’s approach to his subjects is a lesson in itself - in fact, it is the most important lesson. Hat’s off to you, Michael
Love the abstraction and thought-provoking composition in MK's work. Brilliant video.

This is such a wonderful video. Thanks for posting!
Beautiful
Shinan is the worst place in the world. They kidnap innocent people and kill people. If you want to know more about this, search "salt slavery".

What is the light meter he is using, that must be a pretty old vintage one.
He is a great photographer but he is a great printer too!
Just WoW!
what kind of camera does he use i never seen it before
Lovely film, I have a question whats your favourite go to roll of film for your hasselblad?

This voiceover was a huge distraction. Otherwise, always a humbling education to watch and listen to Kenna.
Dislike the sickly voiceover. Mike Kenna has I great speaking voice, I wish he had narrated this himself. Still wonderful images.
This video was originally in Korean not English.
@@markquiram9012 still not a reason for this narration.

I’d rather have lee friedlander any day, but I like Kenna too.
Who on earth is narrating this? This robotic voice is not Michael Kenna.
Intiom probably this was dubbed in Korean and dubbed back to English
Awful narration spoils the whole video...Michael Kenna is one of my favourites but I couldn't watch it through to the end.
Narration @8.11 was very wrong,
In reality, human can't live without nature while, nature flourishes extensively without human.
Lol that's my name is don't really care about photography but whatever
Seems like you don’t care putting a sentence together in a comprehensive order but whatever
Sensing a fee
nothing amazing...
Boring... nothing of value images!!
They are value to Michael Kenna. There is value in everything.
