At its peak Walhalla was home to almost 4000 residents, today is home to less than 20. Founded as a gold mining community in 1862, the town is located in the eastern Victoria region of Gippsland.
In 1910 a railway line was built in the hope of attracting more visitors, however along with the decline of gold mining, local industry and business collapsed. Ramshackle buildings still stand in the town’s centre, drawing a large number of visitors to Walhalla throughout the year. The old mines and underground machinery chambers that lie 300 metres below the surface are a popular tourist attraction.

The mine owners considered the workers as being expendable. Safety gear was viewed as an unnecessary expense. Greedy a-holes.

Mate. You forgot the other ghost town. You know, that one in the middle of Canberra. The one where all the old ghosts live. Those old ghosts that go boo.

This could have been good accept for the appalling camera work and overbearing music. Sad really - the pan up is hugely annoying making it almost unwatchable.

Thanks for your comments mate, I'll definitely take this on board in regards to the pan up. As for music it's down to personal choice really and I felt it would be fitting of the town. The Hurdy Gurdy is much like bagpipes, certainly not for everybody. Thanks for watching.
