Becky you should do a video on just your horses like their backgrounds ,age ,size ,personalities and what they cost, what it cost to keep them and how they help the homestead. bye the I am Becky too.
I love mules... when we walked home from high school after get off bus(,we lived out on grandaddys land ),I walked past orange groves and our elderly neighbors had a big old mule named jenny.she would always run the fenceline with us, and eeeahhh at us...lol...that was 40 years ago,and still and heartfelt memory...then we opened the gate and walked thru cow pasture and a watermelon field ....i miss those days....
That is amazing! Most horses or mules would probably take off at the first sign of an open gate. I love how gentle you are with your animals. You can tell you take good care of them.
Hey Becky! My boyfriend and I love your videos. We're in the planning stage of building our own homestead like you have, so your tips are a great help to us! I especially love your chickens, goats, and soap making videos. I have a small concern about this particular video though... When you were talking about how hard it is to catch a stubborn mule you said "...they totally out-do you... and especially like me, I'm a woman... and I just can't-I'm not a jogger or marathon runner..." While this was most likely unintentional, this statement came across as if you're devaluing yourself, as well as other women. As I said, I love your videos, and I've watched quite a few of them. You're an amazing woman! Brave and strong to have walked away from "society" as it were, and build this wonderful homestead. Your house is gorgeous, your animals always seem happy and extremely well taken care of. You are certainly a valuable person! I hope this was just a slip and you don't feel devalued as a person. I've not even met you and I value you quite a bit. Thank you for sharing your homesteading journey with us. I plan to watch your videos for as long as you continue posting!
Helpful video! I love all of your ideas and appreciate you sharing your knowledge! You are looking absolutely amazing! Such an inspiration in so many ways! Thanks for serving as a guide!
I just love watching your videos- have you ever thought of selling your time on your homestead.. like air bnb- people come out to visit, pay you for staying with you on a weekend. I'd like to do that..you seem so nice and friendly and your homestead is the bomb!
Would you think that this same method/technique would work with horses to? And the only way that I tried to catch my horse is with treats, but when I go to give her a treat she takes off before I could put her halter on and the same process goes over and over again :/
Ashley Barr I never keep the halters on my horses while in the pasture. I want them to be free. Also gives you some idea how much they like you. If they run from you, you are doing something wrong and need to fix it. Notice I don't give the treat until AFTER the halter is on.
oh, that makes sense, I dont keep the halter on but when I try to put the halter on she just walks away. I will for sure to try your advice! Thank you!
LOL.. Loved the intro speech.. I have a mini that just this week started walking away from me with the rope..lol It's my own fault for not using it in so long. BUT.. she's back on track today. (I just got 'lazy' and let her out and in for months!) Ok.. on to watch the rest of your video. :)
Missed seeing your videos! First off you look fantastic I must say! I've been watching your videos since the beginning and love them all. Thanks for the great entertainment and information. Hannah
Awesome! Makes catching easy! How old and tall are your horses, mules, and donkey? Also not judging or being rude, but you tied your rope halter wrong. It was really close though!! Check out some other videos of how to correctly tie it :) it will make it more secure!
O M G ! that is so cool! see thats why i want to go live the country but now i can live vicariously through you. LOL. LOVE your videos. thanks for sharing.
Kay Williams letting them know you have a treat (approaching without the halter) and going out just to spend time with a horse/mule and not working them each and every time you go out, they'll correlate positive experiences with you being there. Ive been training an arabian filly (far more flighty than a mule i assure you), and its worked on her and eventually you dont need to use a treat, just a physical reward (i.e. petting, rubbing, a surprise curry combing, some good butt scratches are my fillys favorite).
1. Don't use web halters. Metal on the horses/mules face is bad. 2. When you tie the rope halter make sure to tie it below the loop that you put the rope through
I learned something as I thought all mules were male. As I was aware that they are hybrids and sterile. So I thought they were all male, now I've learned they can be male or female.
My mule literally comes to me but that's because I can't ride him mainly because he's actually not my mule and I'm not a good rider at all honesty and I dot. Want to hurt him by riding him wrong because he is old

my hat really goes off to you. you make horses look like a dream come true.

What happens if you cant catch your horse when it has escaped? How would you get it back? Is there a solution to it?
Thanks daisy thompson
So.. what was the training she had you do?
when you put on your halter flip his ears forward. that's sensitive cartilage so just be generally more gentle
So how do we train that?
Are you using sun flower seeds (BOSS)?
Becky, very frustrated, I have tried twice to subscribe to your newsletter with no luck. HELP!

A very nice lady living a good life. I feel like we're neighbors.
wow! I didn't know mules could get to the size of Charlie.
juffurey Emma and Charlie are small compared to other horses and most mules.
A mule is a horse x ass hybrid. Maybe you were thinking if just donkeys?
Hi. Cool video. Your mules are so cute. You should put your Amazon link in each of your video discription boxes. Smile!
I learned something as I thought all mules were male. As I was aware that they are hybrids and sterile. So I thought they were all male, now I've learned they can be male or female.
Meanwhile the horses are being jerks to each other in the background and on camera 😂
There you go blaming the horses.
sonseere10 I own a horse I was just pointing out how they were fighting!?
They are not 'fighting'. They are 'talking'. They are pushing and being pushed. That is what horses do. Perfectly normal.
Catch? They came to u! LOL BRAVO!
thank you for sharing'
Great result, but where is the instruction?! 😂
Yay Meredith Hodges!
What ever happened to Emma?
My friend owns her and LOVES that mule. ☀️❤️☀️

My mule literally comes to me but that's because I can't ride him mainly because he's actually not my mule and I'm not a good rider at all honesty and I dot. Want to hurt him by riding him wrong because he is old
How not to put on a halter. How not to use treats. How to use the wrong kind of halter. How to stand in the wrong spot when filming.
Oh shut the helll up
Always train them to catch you.
It worked
Wow Charlie is a big Mule.
Great look Becky, healthy body, healthy mind. Even the mules know.lol

You are too nicy nice, the mule does not respect that it wants a real leader not you.
Is this just a city girl who can't ride but always wanted big pets?
