To a degree. Local orders may be more practical and cheaper for the most. However I will argue that ordering a number of guitars from (especially their house brand) Thomann from Europe while in the US is definitely cheaper than doing the same from Sweetwater when living in Europe.
@@forkless I think for most, the local outfit is going to be the better choice. As you say, Thomann house brand kit offers great value for money & I expect Sweetwater probably carry specific models/items that can't easily be found in Europe, so there are definitely going to be instances where it is worth it.
I've ordered (non music stuff) from the US (to the UK) once or twice & been lumbered with hefty additional taxes at this end, so it's not something I'm keen on doing if I can avoid it.
I tend to buy my instruments used, locally, from their previous owners (or from junk/charity shops) anyway, so I'm not really in the prime demographic for either business!
@@sadie376 Yeah, it will be the most logical choice in most instances indeed. Warranty across continents is not something I would enjoy.
That said I have purchased gear from the US in the past (I'm in the Netherlands), but it''s rare. Shipping costs most of the time won't make worth it.
The only time I will consider this is when there is a product I just can not get locally (EU).

They use a specific ceramic that produces a more focused sound with a proper gain structure and you can add cream or sugar or both if that's your thing.

@@DMSProduktions those mugs should be filled with a bean broth from coffee cherry pits and vanilla bean pod scrapeings and served at around 90-92 degrees. A mug should be ready at any time with said beverage or possibly a hot coco mix or earth water with trace minerals.

If you live in Europe, Thomann. If you live in the US, not Sweetwater? Some consider their service and support good, but you pay for it.
As an aside, unfortunately, Thomann lied about shipping changes to the US. They changed their rates about a month ago, while I was looking at Sire basses and Harley Benton guitars.
All this typed, used (or new marked as "mint" at a significant discount) is usually the best way to go.
Now show us (and Thomann) how it can be done better: It's time for you to make an HP 42 mug. Maybe as a collab with Thomann in the form a Harley Benton Signature mug? With locking tuners maybe?

Well, there is no interest on my Sweetwater purchases. I just have to pay attention to my minimum payments because not making that would quickly become a disaster. OTOH, I probably do have a little too much gear. But my Sweetwater card is the very least of my credit issues.

I have an early version of the thomann mug and its sigficantly thicker than the newer ones. Both support my unhealthy coffee habit though

The reason the "Thomann logo" is slightly offset and not completely straight, is a tribute to The Beatles white album. The Beatles front cover has

I feel like Thomann is slowly improving.
They still have so quirks on their site but generally, I do like their service.
I had issues with my first gen Audient iD14 and the turnaround was 2 weeks on paper but I got it back within 4.
I demand fully scientific volume study, maybe like fill each and dump it into a measuring cup to get the true volume capacity of each. Big question is which one has the richest piano lows.
This makes me 😂. I collect mugs and I have a good dozen from various companies that are in competition with each other in my field. I do compare their mugs and look at the attention to detail and the quality between them. 👍

I haven’t had the need to order gear from Thomann or Sweetwater yet…but now I know that Thomann isn’t an option anymore. You can tell a lot about someone from the people they choose to hang out with…and you can tell a lot about a company by the other companies they choose to partner with.
They should just go all out and make it clearly intentionally crooked, so small variations in angle don't matter.
The best mug is the dirtiest mug in my opionin, however this will be different for each person #teamdirtymug

@@EytschPi42 I just know you can do better! - Don't have a measuring cup? Fine, we have the metric system. A volume of 1 liter, filled with water, equates to 1 kg. If you reverse that and weigh how much water you can put in a mug, you know it's volume.
Please do a follow-up video with factual data.

The mug is very important, and it is a major constituent of the Engineer's toolkit. I have no recording equipment, and I don't even play sitting down, but I have a spot on the shelf, between the pedals, for the mug.
I use the smaller mugs, most of the larger mugs are filled with pencils and what-not. Frequent refills maintains temperature integrity. ymmv👍

I like the Gotoh Grip on the Thomann one and the the granite finish really improves the tone, much more sparkling highs. Nice review, will definitely shame guitar players with more basic mugs from now on.

Marshall is on their way out, dropped distributors twice, is going direct, were sold and are losing their artists... I don't think I can get them to send me a fridge.
