If they hit you they will deal 5, 9, or 13 half-hearts of damage depending on your difficulty set. When idle they wander within around 15 blocks centered on the location the evoker spawned them at. They will also die automatically within 2 minutes of being spawned(to prevent swarming). If you were to play Minecraft dungeons, the evoker is a miniboss(instead of a common enemy) and will take many more hits to bring down. Poof you have to go and find an ancient city, they are rare structures found in the deep dark biome but are more commonly found in mountains. They hold good loot like enchanted gapples and enchanted diamond leggings and also the swift sneak enchant book. I think itd be worth trying to find one.

the allay was a community voted mob, the choices were: copper golem: golem made of copper that presses copper buttons that would have been made if it won and would give more use to copper other than spy glass(optifine zoom better), lightning rod (mostly useless, how often does your house get hit by lightning) and decoration(not really a use use), allay: picks up and items (glorified hopper), or glare: goes to dark areas and lights them up for you (moving torch than can help keep mods away, no more creepers spawning in your house in the 1 square you don't have bright enough) I was team glare, and copper golem secondary, RIP
