Hi Marcus, thanks for your reply. I have cleaned the tape path thoroughly, but the problem is still there. Sometimes when I FF/REW a couple of times, the noise disappears and it plays beautifully then. It is a mechanical noise, maybe I need to lubricate the gears.
There is one of the scanning tape heads that have microscopic holes, like a sieve. Maybe that's dirty.
