I am glad that there is CCTV everywhere in Singapore nowadays. I welcome more CCTV to be installed. Anyone who is law-abiding should welcome this as they have nothing to fear about. The authorities have no time to look into these people lah. I personally feel safer when I see CCTV around.

The only thing that i think can be absolutely sure is that its definitely someone that they know, had been brought up to the house before, and knows their working schedule. - It must be someone they know that had been brought up to their house before (be it for a moment only or not) for the murderer to know the venue of the parent's house. unless they stalked them. - It must be someone one of the kid who usually opens the door reconise (possibly the eldest?) for the kid to not make a loud fuss enough to alert the neighbors (unless he is threatened and too speechless, or the neighbor that heard them didnt say anything) - For someone to come so specifically during the timing in between the kids' parents went to work and the mother to call the kids awake to do the deed, definitely it is someone that knows the parent's normal daily schedule. The person definitely knows that all 4 kids is in the house during that time as they all have either nursery or schools to attend. As much as its possible for it to be a random attack, the fact that there is no other case around the same block happening, i believe its a very targeted attack towards the family. Its not robbery after all so its definitely not accidental. The kids are all stacked specifically as well. Its very calculatedly planned. PLEASE REOPEN THIS CASE. Even if the culprit could be dead by now, its better to have cases solved anyways. Check the nature around them, the people in the family, friends, workers they're close with.
I am sure the parents know who the murderer is. If is someone whom they know, i guess it is very easy to guess and narrow down the suspects, especially someone who they had angered that much to take such revenge, probably threatened them.

It was a very simple case to solve but yet remain unsolved. If I was the investigating officer back then, I would have focused all my effort and resources on the PARENT.
after watching the video, my gut feelings were that the innocent children died for the sins of their parents, the manner the children were killed showed the killer was filled with hate and revenge and this feeling must have eaten him for days, weeks or months so that led him to carry out his revenge, only the parents knew what had gone wrong, very sad the murders went unresolved.

So the general belief is the parents cheated the uncle's money and the uncle carry out the murder.
That so-called uncle is the malaysian neighbour. It was reported that malaysian neighbour often enter their flat unit to borrow their phone and whenever the 4 kids see this malaysian neighbour, they called him uncle.

In this 1979 Geylang Bahru murder case, is very obvious that malaysian neighbour is the murderer. The circumstantial evidence is very strong. 1)No forced sign of entry, hence must be someone known to the murdered children. 2)The murderer knows that on 3 days from Mondays to Fridays every week, an elderly woman will be along the corridor washing her hair during the early hours of morning and he chose a day that the old woman does not wash her hair along the corridor to commit the murder, this proves the murderer is a resident in that same block. 3)The kid's parents left the house at 6.30am and by 7.10am another neighbour came to knock the door, hence the time for the murderer to commit the murder and wash himself off the blood stains is very short, hence again proving the murderer should be someone staying in that same block. 4)A taxi driver correctly identified the malaysian neighbour with bloodstains in his clothes and a knife banging against his taxi door on the same day that the murder occured. I think in Singapore in the 1960s and 1980s also got another 2 case whereby the murderer was charged with murder based solely on circumstantial evidence. This 1979 Geylang Bahru murder case the circumstantial evidence is very strong, hence it is very strange why that IO handling this murder case release that malaysian neighbour after the taxi-driver already correctly identified him out at the police station. They could use this to match the handwriting and find the suspect, as well as find out which store it is bought from, find the number of stocks the store has for this card (which can lead to the number of buyers) and lastly, we can get the suspect

Did the police not record the fingerprints of the suspects and the suspect's letter mocking the victims' family? I just guess that it was due to the incompetence of the police in the 70s. During those days, glue sniffing and drug addict was common. After inhaling of glue or consumption of drug, these people could have lost their mind and committed the act. The police, professionals and experts could have missed out on this.

I just watched the documentary regards to the case. 1979 I was just 6 years old now 48. Didn't know there are such cases in Singapore. The murderer must be old or died or fled to other countries. It's like finding a Neddle in a hay stack to solve it in other words cold case are not easy. My blessings to all the 4 victims 🙏. Conduct thorough checks on the few old joes who eagerly waved the criminal volunteer aside without even hoping to be seen on cameras as she was conducting interviews. They could be prime suspects or witnesses. Anyway, do you expect the killer if still alive today to be a young hunk? So don’t rule out any possibilities of a grey-haired elder sitting at kopitiam. Jokes aside. I believed their parents had a reason to close this case while investigations were still in process then. They had a part with it and it’s clear they had offended someone they shouldn’t and their children paid the price. Had they pursued on the police would probably have gotten more leads. On 5 Jan 1979, ST front-page news reported a massive hunt for a 3-man gang who enter two homes in the early hours in the first floors by climbing through windows. They could be the culprit or causing a diversion or the real killer(s) aware the police are busy conduct the same method. Also the 70's HDB flats, one can easily put your hand through the window grills to open the door too. If the gang members were seeking revenge went to the wrong house, it could mean the one of the neighbour was known to the 3-man gang. Anyway there were no further news about the 3-man gang who also stab a victim to death in Clementi.

And it was later revealed the malaysian neighbour moved out from the block and returned to malaysia.

I feel that the CNY card is a telling piece of evidence. Was it ever sent to the police for analysis? I wonder why the show didn't elaborate much on the card.
They could use this to match the handwriting and find the suspect, as well as find out which store it is bought from, find the number of stocks the store has for this card (which can lead to the number of buyers) and lastly, we can get the suspect

Did the police not record the fingerprints of the suspects and the suspect's letter mocking the victims' family? I just guess that it was due to the incompetence of the police in the 70s. How to imagine they couldn't find the suspect in a tiny space in Singapore especially when the news was circulated nationwide.

Um how tho? They are still stuck with the photographs of the scene of that time that would probably be long faded (old photo). Any information that modern technology can take advantage of (DNA, Fingerprint,) would've long been gone. Probably no security footages as well cos 1979, and if they could solve this case now, no reason they couldn't solve it in 1979. There were just too less information.

I just watched the documentary regards to the case. 1979 I was just 6 years old now 48. Didn't know there are such cases in Singapore. The murderer must be old or died or fled to other countries. It's like finding a Neddle in a hay stack to solve it in other words cold case are not easy. My blessings to all the 4 victims 🙏. They are killed and I strongly believed they all now in heaven with their dad.
I believe their parent should knows who are the murderer! God will punished the murderer!
Seems like the couple refused to reveal. Perhaps they really did something unbecoming to the murderer that if they reveal, they will be implicated too. 😕

They could be prime suspects or witnesses. Anyway, do you expect the killer if still alive today to be a young hunk? So don’t rule out any possibilities of a grey-haired elder sitting at kopitiam. Jokes aside. I believed their parents had a reason to close this case while investigations were still in process then. They had a part with it and it’s clear they had offended someone they shouldn’t and their children paid the price. Had they pursued on the police would probably have gotten more leads. Do not forget it was still in the 70s where secret societies were rife and policemen could be easily bribed.

On 5 Jan 1979, ST front-page news reported a massive hunt for a 3-man gang who enter two homes in the early hours in the first floors by climbing through windows. They could be the culprit or causing a diversion or the real killer(s) aware the police are busy conduct the same method. Also the 70's HDB flats, one can easily put your hand through the window grills to open the door too. If the gang members were seeking revenge went to the wrong house, it could mean the one of the neighbour was known to the 3-man gang. Anyway there were no further news about the 3-man gang who also stab a victim to death in Clementi.
