On further investigation, I don't think Maud Adams has a cameo in View to a Kill. She was on the set visiting one day with her husband, and apparently the director remembered her doing a scene as an extra. She is unsure whether she did or not, and after looking more closely I can't see her, though there is the possibility that the back of her head is in it. 😂😂 Or maybe she was in a scene that was left on the cutting room floor. Anyway, sorry for that small error, and I will strive to do better in the future.
My problem with Moore is that he can't do any sort of physical acting. I can't even buy him slapping Maude Adams. When I watch it, all I can think is that she would kick the crap out of him.
Even Christopher Lee wanted Alice Cooper's version of "The Man With The Golden Gun" to be the theme song... Yes kids, Christopher Lee was a metalhead... Look it up... Lmao
I wish Marc Lawrence had been a running character all through the series. Having a villain--other than Blofeld and Jaws--as a regular, lower level foil would have been a nice added dimension. He could have shown up in unexpected places with a "I didn't know there was a pool down there" deadpan humor and always survived the encounters.
I also recall trying to recreate this with my hotwheels and my cousins 😂. Earned me a lot of boy gendered friend, because they couldn't believe a little girl liked car stunts( it was the very early 80s, so, not their fault. I had a very cool dad that just treated me like his kid. never girlfriend stuff or assumed. I was just his kid who loved blood guts and gore too😂. He was a wonderful dad. I miss him every day ❤.

Golden Gun is somewhat overhated really. It's got some really enjoyable elements, and Christopher Lee, Britt Ekland and Herve Villachez are great and memorable as the film's villain, lead Bond girl and henchman respectively. Lulu's song is one of my favourites in the series, and it surprises me just how derided it is. I was also surprised to learn John Wardley worked on the effects for this film and Live and Let Die. He's more famous for his work in UK theme parks like Alton Towers and Thorpe Park, but he apparently started off with the Bond series.
Second favorite Bond movie (after Goldfinger). Christopher Lee is an outstanding villain, and I think he would have made an extremely good Dr. No as well. (Though I count seven bodies, not six: Scaramanga, his girl, his employer, the guard, the mobster, the scientists and the kid in the karate school)
Christopher Lee actually IS James Bond -- the author's cousin with a WWII secret agent file still held secret -- and even though he was not chosen to play the part, at least should have been Dr. No in the first movie.
I really like this one, it is marred by the car chase through the centre of Bangkok. I know the city, and even in 1974 car chases through central Bangkok traffic were impossible.
James Bond Island isn't the only icon location from the Bond Series. Off of Staniel Cay in the Bahamas is the Thunderball Grotto from Thunderball. The only way to enter it from the underwater openings.
One of my favourites too. Don't understand why the critics dislike it so. What's not to like, great villain, wonderful scenery, fabulous action sequences and the gorgeous Maud Adams. Rodger Moore has always been my number one Bond and MWTGG is his finest outing. Brilliant film.
Have long been of the view, that The Man With The Golden Gun has been very unfairly dismissed. Fleming had 'retired Bond' after 'From Russia with Love' and had Rosa Klebb kill him in the novels climax. Klebb uses her infamous switch bladed shoe, the blade of which is coated with a neuro toxin. As bond gains the upper hand against Klebb and she is overpowered, she catches him a blow in the thigh and the book ends with Bond realizing he's been poisoned before drifting into unconsciousness (A fan backlash led to Fleming resurrecting Bond - Renee Mathis, head of the French secret service rescues Bond and gets him to hospital.) In the novel, there is a possible reference to 'M's' sexuality, when 'M' is reading a psychological report on Scaramanga. It notes that the large calibre of Scaramanga's chosen weapon (a .44 calibre revolver), and his womanizing may be compensation for repressed homosexuality. It also states that apparently Scaramanga cannot whistle, a trait which the reports' author states has been anecdotally reported to him as being a trait of homosexuals. At this point 'M' realizes he hasn't whistled since boyhood and purses his lips and whistles, before scoffing and throwing the report onto his desk. It could be said that it may be that 'M' was a boy midshipman and as such, sailors are superstitious and don't whistle as it's believed to summon storms, but when added to the line in 'OHMSS' it's noted that 'M' lives as a bachelor at his home 'Quarterdeck'. Not in the same sense as a program like Microsoft Flight Simulator, but a simulator that extrapolated from data entered by the programmer. So, given data like the mass and speed of the car, the weight and position of the stunt driver, the lengths and types of lumber, weather conditions, and the proposed angles of all of the broken bridge pieces, the crew could repeatedly test all of the variables until the safest and best outcome for the stunt was achieved, even before a single piece of wood was cut.
Roger Moore nearly ruined Bond. During his reign Bond’s buffoonery was at its peak. Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible saved the Bond franchise. It demonstrated to Producers a serious and masculine character could succeed. Thankfully, Daniel Craig showed up right on time to save Bond.

Actual full nudity in the title sequence on this one. When it displays Guy Hamiltons director credit, you can clearly see the bush on the girl, the circular ornament doesnt quite cover her up. Later versions its been hidden, but the version Netflix shows is the uncensored one.
One of the most difficult car stunts ever committed to film, and the director completely ruined it with that slide whistle effect. SMH. Who else wants a version without this silly sound effect?
3:00 This was the early 1970s. They did NOT refine the stunt through computer simulations; the graphical processors required for this did not even exist at the time. At most, they used a computer as a giant calculator to crunch figures on momentum into equations to help determine distance and angles for the ramps.
