In this video, we transform this pair of Allen Edmonds from dress shoes to kitchen and restaurant ready. A customer sent this pair of Allen Edmonds in to us and requested a sole that could hold up to grease and slippery restaurant floors. After this transformation, the owners of this pair of shoes is ready to go.

They look excellent guys! Your client is definitely a smart gentleman with very good taste!
Thank you for sharing this!
Lisa
I Will, but hey, you have to go up at least one zize. That shirt you had on was way to small for you round your neck and shoulders;)
Dress shirts are very comfortable, more comfortable the Polos especially if you plan to wear a jumper or jacket on top.
@@gozziozzi After seeing this video, I definitely agree. All of that working out had been paying off. 😉😁💪
I’m a retired food service worker. Those would have been a vast improvement over what I wore for many years!👍🏻
Outstanding. Brilliant decision to make a wedge sole. Restaurant work means pure on your feet time. Those shoes are going to be super comfortable. I hope the customer loves them. Love this video.
Thanks so much for watching!
Your craftsmanship always surprises me with your repairs! Can’t wait until recrafting is reopened to send my pair in! Good work as always!
Thanks so much.
The amount I walk in the city every day these are a dream pair of shoes!!! Great Job guys!!!
Smart move on Danial's part in two ways, taking a pair of quality shoes and adapting to the "use" environment and having you guys to make that happen ......... Quality all the way around!!! Be Safe
This is actually brilliant. Honestly not a bad idea to do on any wedge style shoe/boot where you want a different sole pattern. I would totally due this to my Thursday moc toe boots.
I can relate to this customer. I worked in a restaurant for about 2 yrs and ended up just getting some really cheap, slip resistant, black, ugly shoes from Walmart. I think that is what most people end up doing. I think this is a much better option lol.
It depends, I wouldn’t even care if I was working at a kitchen at McDonald’s or something. If it was a high end restaurant I’d do this but nothing else besides that. With that said, I was shocked at how good these shoes look with the new soles.
Always AMAZING to see 100% craftsmanship 👍👍👞👞
Looking stylish in the kitchen!
We’ll done. Please keep these intriguing form-meets-function transformation vids comin’!
OMG! WHY?? IS THAT CORK SO SATISFYING? LOL🤣😍🤩
Great job on the shoes, guys! Daniel had the right idea. Great style with functionality!
P. S. Love the look of the polo on you Trent. It suits you!! 🙂
Thanks so much…to both compliments! 😉😊
we used to call that type of shirt a popover, love em
Amazing service for this guy. I love them
Omg , I been working in kitchens for 30 years and now I have to use the over shoe for my redwings I tried to explain this process to my local cobbler and he didn’t want to do it, you guys are awesome and I’m so happy for the guy he going to be a happy chef
Hi guys! Are you able to do more of these or is this a one time thing for a video? I work for a restaurant, a few coworkers and myself would be interested in this service. Thank you!
I would like to see a video on you guys doing a Grant Stone Boot like the Ottawa, Diesel, Edwards, and/or Brass boot. I would love to see them taken apart and resoled. Thanks in advance!
Whether you're in the shop, jobsite or in the kitchen all day I'm reminded of the best advice that our Snap-On tools dealer shared with me a few decades ago..."You can buy a cheaper wrench or socket for the job and still get it done but don't cheat your feet kid." Great 2.0 kitchen version of a quality pair of shoes.
I don't know why, but watching you rebuild/refashion/refurbish shoes is a great release for me. I work in the automotive business and after a stressed out day I can honestly say it "decompresses" me. Jesus Christ gives me peace, but Trent and Heath mellow me out before bedtime. Thank you fella's and God bless you as you grow your YT channel. I would like to donate some Allen Edmonds Double monk straps to you for a good cause (sell them and give the money to Vets?). They are in brand new condition.
Vibram is not just a name brand, it outlasts any other I have ever experienced myself. And, the restaurant business is the hardest to deal with when resoling shoes, except for maybe the trucking industry; once your midsoles are impregnated with diesel, or cooking oil ..... good luck with trying to get ANY product to stick to that! Stitch on a new mid-sole and start over. Been there.
I've been a cook for 20 years if the client is reading the comments do not trust the heels on on those shoes, they will betray you! Shoes for Crews tread pattern is the best. I've had my Red Wings resoled three times.
Can you elaborate a bit
@@ag4103 20 years is 2 decades a client is a customer and there's a difference between saying non slip and slip resistant Shoes for Crews is non-slip that means it works
They look great i think those soles would work great for anyone that has to wear a dress shoe .In less than ideal conditions
Thanks for the answer about the cork....excellent work to watch!
Collars must pop!
Great video!
I love the high quality kitchen shoe resole. Wish I had a pair!
Those polo shirts look mighty fine and I'll probably get a couple soon. Those sandles are tempting, would make a perfect gift for my best friend for the summer.
Thanks for all that you guys do.
Thanks so much! We really appreciate you watching.
I think the totally flat sole with the wedge, like having the heel on the inside of the sole, is a good look, and more grip area. It would seem logically the way all shoes should be?
Alternative for heeled version would be vibram 430 in my experience. They work great on till flor that had oil and stuff. Just i would add leather midsole because they are kind of firm
Classic definition of form following function. Works every time.
Now they look like a pair of sunbelt
Samuel Hubbard's with the welt dyed to match!! 😂😂
A new niche. Y’all would make a fortune.
My thinking as well.
Seems like this should be a large segment of the shoe wearing population. Fancy on the top and hefty worklike on the bottom. I think Daniel has come up with a niche market for high quality uppers with working soles. Smart. Hope he likes them and they work.
They look really cool!
Been wanting to do this for so long! Saving this for reference
As I’m sure others who have been in the biz have said, I wish I had these back in the day: A sturdy, well-constructed, beautiful shoe that can take the heat, grease, water, etc. but not look like the Rockport crap that was the only option back in the day. Props to y’all.
One thing that is never mentioned in cobbler videos is just how physical it is. Some of these boots and shoes sure look like they have to be wrestled with to get them apart and then the reassembly takes some elbow grease as well. Great Stuff!
Yeah.. if you guys start doing custom chef/kitchen shoes.. that's a good market.
Awesome job!
U guys do such amazing work.❤️
Those came out awesome. Best dressed kitchen ever!
So love your videos lads ty
Great job they look really nice.
Love it...
Fantastic job and great video.
Thanks so much! We appreciate you watching.
Man i need to this for my dad! Hes a restaurant General Manager and this would be way better than just tossing them after a year! Im gonna have to send an email out to you guys 😅
Great job guys! Different look for soles but looks good!
Awesome
Those are beautiful uppers
Looking great in that polo, my guy!
Thank you!
Beautiful
I really enjoyed watching you work on your shoes looking very professional❤
I love the vids TnH!
The Vibram Newporter (what was used here) is a brilliant sole for traction. Kitchen or hiking on slippery rocks it doesn't matter.
Fabulous. Masterful~~
Fantastic,,, really beautiful
Nice work! Looks like a winner! 😊
Holy cow!! That's a huge shoe!!
That’s a great look for those shoes and functional too.
The Transformation looks intresting ... I like 👍
Daniel here!! I LOVE EM. I'm Daniel from TX tho. still love em....
Thank you for answering the question about the hot cork storage. But, it still looks like oatmeal cookie dough. Toss in a few big fat flies (dead of course) and you'd have a reasonable facsimile of oatmeal raisin cookies. 😋 Yum!
😁
I had these soles on whites boots and they were a godsend on new epoxy kitchen floors
Soledad CNA just came in room get breakfast tray had too rewind..woof..
I would have thought you’d have put a layer of leather, and then the rubber sole. Interesting to see.
Ahh, nothing like a cup of coffee while watching Trenton & Heath
We always appreciate you watching! Have a great weekend.
Nice transition
Great improvement, but I'm wondering if the uppers need wax or something else to protect them from spills.
When it come to Shoe’s,yall are Rockstars.👻
In the future, could you give a quick description of the quality of the shoe before you refurbish it. Like the quality of the stitching, or whether it was real leather in the heel block. I like hearing your opinions.
You did a great job , not sure I’d do that to such a nice pair of shoes myself though.
Nice
💙
Those shoes look super comfy now. Why cant we get ready made shoes like these ? Great job guys.
I didn't know that shoes worn in a hot damp environment require a different compound to fix the outer sole to the inner sole, master craftsmen 😊
Damn I used to bartend I would've loved this with my boots
Hot cork time isn’t my favorite time…so it’s not everyone’s favorite time. 😂
Daniel definitely had the right idea with this conversion because as you said not only are shoes for the culinary business poorly made and basic black they aren't the most attractive footwear either. If he takes care of the uppers they should last him for years. BTW what model of AE's were those? They are a nice looking shoe.
To be honest, I’m not sure. I was going to look for you, but we’ve already mailed them back.
looks like a Carlyle
@@hnaht321 Thank you.
He must be a server as opposed to working the line. Behind the line (with fish and beef juice and hot oil flying) you’ll destroy those uppers. A high quality clog is the preferred footwear behind the line, not those Crocs which some people like but they suck. Best Regards
Great creative redesign and craftsmanship! I think that I could benefit with a wedge over heel for driving commercial vehicle, oil and diesel and slip resistant.🙏😎👍
Those look awesome! Can you give a ballpark idea of what that resold would cost??
Shirts and shoes
A lot of people in the comments are saying how great an idea this is, but I have to say that unless he's the manager/front of house, he may end up regretting this. People keep choosing the cheapies for a reason: if they get burned, the uppers get covered in grease or staining food, or if the daily tasks include anything that might scratch the upper, they can simply toss the shoes and get a new pair. They smell like food and the kitchen? Toss em. Delivery guy rolled over em with his dolly? Cut em off at the ER and toss em. With fine leather uppers like these, you'd have to be so careful not to damage the good part.
There are good quality slip- and oil-resistant shoes out there, but most of my service industry friends didn't buy them because they didn't want shoes that they had to care about.
Right, there's a reason you see so many back of house professionals wearing Birkenstock kitchen clogs. That or Dansko clogs. Grease and spill resistant sole and upper, nonslip sole, comfortable for all-shift standing.
Very cool work, as always. Was it necessary to change the cork? Previous looks are quite normal.
p.s. Daniel should try thinner laces.
Always a pleasure to watch you fellows work. Do you know of a book or instruction manual or website that gives detailed instructions on the various functions of a shoe finisher. Mine is a Sutton Landis 2000 from the mid nineties.
Re: The cork tubes: get a bag sealer, 25$ investment to ensure the cork stays fresh.
I have found that ripple soles work best in those conditions
Could you have use the stacked leather he'll also?
Great job guys! Why did u build the wedge sole and did not use a vibram’s christy sole instead?
Thanks! The customer asked for this specific oil resistant sole.
What a fantastic video, loved that you explained the thought process moving through the transformation. True masters of your craft, it's crazy to think I almost missed this video because of the unassuming thumbnail. Keep at it y'all!
Great craftsmanship. What was the cost to resole and restore such dress shoes?
Hola cómo les va en EE UU aquí en chile un un otoño muy frío es temporada de botas de cuero Caterpillar Timberland saludos amigos
8:08 When conditioning the leather, is it best for the leather to be warm/hot or damp at all? How does the leather absorb the conditioner best?
What's the advantages and disadvantages of hot cork and cork board?
yall made those into the lamborghini sterrato of shoes
I don't get it - why do I find the destruction, then the recreation of a shoe so soothing. I must be weird ??
Is it better to apply the Saphir Renovateur Cream using a glove or cloth? Because I've seen you guys do both.
I NEED THIS! All shoes for crews sell is garbage and only last a couple of months at best.
Get a pair of Allen Edmonds with Dainite soles. Pretty much the same thing. They might no5 have as much tread but should work well.
nice style 😅
👍👍🎩🎩
Hey guys, I love your videos, and I love a 10 min length video, but if I may, I’d like to offer some constructive feedback. The video felt “rushed”- like the scenes were short and the cuts came fast. I think if each scene were just 5 secs longer, you could squeeze this into a 14-16 min video, and it would have that slowed down pace; similar to a lot of your older videos.
I still love watching you guys work, so I hope this comment is taken respectfully. Keep up the great content!
