    I love how there's a lot of reaction videos for Alice in Chains. They're such an epic band and deserve to be shown to the new generations. I was happy to see your daughter grooving out to the solo. I hope my kids get into AiC. Thanks!

      The funny thing is when I was in highschool/college and all these grunge bands were huge, Alice in Chains was never as popular as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Green Day, Stone Temple Pilots, etc. I feel like we all (including myself) appreciate them much more now.

    If I ever have a kid we're gunna jam to this music. I'm only 20, good thing my father did the same.

      @ModeratelyAmused 5 лет назад

      When I was 20, my dad didn't care about the music I listened to. If asked he might mention Johnny Cash or Simon and Garfunkel but he never touched the radio. When I played him Van Halen Eruption on the stereo, I asked him how he wasn't impressed with the guitar play. He said it just sounded like random notes and just going up and down the scales. I said, well it can't be considered random since it sounds just like that on the live performance so he conceded that to me then I said, by the way, isn't my orchestra music mostly going up and down scales? He conceded that to me as well. Didn't win him over but I'd like to think maybe just maybe, it made the music a little more tolerable 25 years later when he and my mom sat in front of the TV watching shows like X-Factor. (which ironically I hated because I think millions of people can sing at a quality level but a much smaller percentage can play any one particular instrument at a quality level.

    You two are so cute! Great to bond with music! I lived in Seattle during this time and was lucky to see all the bands for cheap! Great time in Seattle during early to mid 1990s!

    Cool Reaction. Man in the Box came out in 1990 and the Lead Singer(Layne) died in 2002. Alice in Chains are still making music though and it still sounds good. Hope you do more AIC reaction they're a great band. MY favorites are Nutshell, Rain when I die, Would, Rooster, Rotten Apple, Them Bones, and Down in a hole.

    Definitely check out "Don't Follow" it's on a Little E.P. called "Jar Of Flies" Personally I'd get the E.P. however you get it and just listen to it straight through. It's actually only like 31 minutes start to finish. It's beautiful, brilliant and flawlessly made. It will make you love Alice In Chains. Facts. Layne's voice and my dear friend Shannon's voice were the 2 most unique and beautiful voices of the 90's. You should check out "No Rain" by Blind Melon. That was Shannon's band. I absolutely stand behind my suggestions. So yeah "Jar Of Flies" is musically and vocally in another place. If you don't like the whole E.P., I get that. But you have to like at least half of it. It's raw and beautiful to me.

    The song is actually about the censorship the band faced from radio stations promoters and such the band felt as if they were in a box and all the radio people were filling that box with shit to censor and silence there music just a little fun fact about this kick ass song :)

    • @SaerdnaOoOoo
      @SaerdnaOoOoo 6 лет назад +1

      The song is vegan propaganda. In the music video we see animals who want freedome. He sings about a dog who's nose is shoved in shit and beaten. Everyone know that dog only shit on the carpet if you don't take them for walks. The song is against animal crielty. Their message is that animals can feel to so empathize for them as you do to a human If they mean to promote veganism I am not entirely sure about though.

    You're right it was Layne Staley who passed from heroin overdose,. But he died in April of 2002 also he was the original lead singer. And was a huge inspiration to me and my music. The song man in the box was off of there 1990 debut album facelift, but I really love that song!!!!

    I'm of Dad's era and AIC was/is one of my favourite bands. I always thought this one was about addiction but believe it was about censorship in music they wrote after a meeting with Columbia records. Good one! Enjoyed that.

    Please do a picture in picture with the video you are reacting to. Many of us know these songs and love them. But this is your show. We want to see how you react and to what are you reacting? Otherwise you're doing fine. Love that you're introducing a new generation to new music. Plus, give her a printout of the lyrics so she can read to better grasp it's meaning.

    One of the best rock bands from the 90s no question about it, specially with Layne on vocals. =) 6,5 is a great number for someone who listen to Alice In Chains for the first time. In time it may turn into a 9 or even a 10. =)

    on interviews he mentioned the censorship of media as the motivation, but he wrote that song when he was high, which lead me to believe is more of a cry out for help from an addict, and the voice who responds to him is his inner demons who want him to be wasted. just my personal thought

      Nah dude,he even said himself it was about media censorship mixed in with metaphors for slaughtered cattle cos it was in his head after havin a meal with (vegetarian) managers..the censorship thing 'feed my eyes now you've sewn them shut' but he did also say he wrote it whilst high so it changed from day to day but it defo was a comment on censorship,-btw man if thats what you took away from it thats also cool thats y music is so great it means many things to many different people-respect to you fella-✌

      Actually his addiction and pain and demons are what brought out his talent. He wouldn't have given us this gift without those things. If he grows up perfectly well adjusted and never tries drugs you would never know he even existed.

    I love Alice in Chains. If you are a fan, try King's X. Start with "Out of the Silent Planet" from Gretchen Goes to Nebraska (1989). Metal trio with two contrasting singers who with the drummer bring Beatlesque harmonies to the music. This is my favorite, but others prefer their later heavier and more streamlined work. Still the same line up playing today.

    "old dad " you kickass. Tyler you'r a lucky daughter. love your videos. just found them today. old dad great selection.and alice in chains "Dirt" and "Jar of flies " rocks. seattle rock is weird. Love their groove. that's the first thing I listen to. the music is what moves me. lyrics come next. pink Floyd is a big example, well their music moves me like no other. But jimi Hendrix, pantera, metallica, megadeth, led zeppelin, kiss, motley crew, ...... its all about the music for me. try some "Chris stapleton' " Tennessee whisky""
