My friend Sylvester, I miss you. We had so much fun together and I love your writer's team Eric was my best friend both of you RIP. Your music will last forever in my heart.
WORTH A 2TH CHANCE I loved so much this song at the time and was deceived that it didn't appeal to the greatest. It worth a second chance in 2021, 41 years after. The new generations I NEED YOU !!!!
I remember dancing on the stage at the Garage, as the sing was peaking I could hear seagulls because the piers were close, it was as if we were outside.
You must have been on some real good shit, that you heard seagulls in an insulated room with the he best sound system in the world. Like I said some good shit.
I remember Pure joy, I felt like jumping out of my skin, my body was lifted off the floor, the spirit coursing through my veins like fast moving molten lava, setting my core on fire. A drugless high giving me the energy to move my body effortlessly to the relentless beat of this masterpiece… Sylvester, Martha, Izora & Tom have channeled the Holy spirit into this place… And I'm powerless to resist!! Possession is for real.
Wtf? 7 dislikes tell the story. Clearly don't know about the incomparable, legendary Sylvester. "Hello Amazon?...Yes...do you sell hearing aids?...yes that's right, we need 7.
Tom Moulton knows how to bring out the hidden essence of a song with the extended instrumental break. The signature violin sound 6:30 to 9:45 is just brilliant.
just when I thought I had heard every version of this classic, I run across this. Brilliantly worked and brings back great memories. That voice, that background female touch (love ya Martha) and his magical sympathy.... wow such a wonderful group never to be forgotten. RIH Sly.
The song is so actual, so ahead of is time. The words are simple and efficient, they mean what they have to mean. The rhythm is simple and diversified, match perfectly the word. Modern day poetry at is best. Thank you to Sylvester and is band for delivering something so beautiful :)
It's good to hear that the song had more words that the album mix...... I only wonder about the extra vocals by "Martha Wash"...... Were they added when "Tom" went into the studio to re-work the song? And was "Izora Rhodes"and "Jeannie Harris" in on the session as a back-up singers? Weren't they on the original LP?
I have the C.D. an on the back it say the background vocals were done by Cookie Mitchell, Jeannie Tracey an Ella Holte...I thought that the backing vocals were done by Martha an Izora too, but when I researched further I found out that they had all fallen out with each other, so other vocalist had to be brought in to finish out the song. It's a good thing that in the Black community there's no shortage of talented, church-bred, big-voiced female vocalist!!!!!!!!
There are sooooo many remixes some are good, some are okay. This is nice, but I still love the NRG of the LP version. Big ups to the backing band Kleeer!
Wait...a dislike? Child please. Don't let the music patrol come for you.
I kno that's right!!!!!!!!!!
Mannchild11 now there's 4 we need to track down. This is THE SHIT.
