They were too busy throwing millions at the Harkle who produced very little and all of it total garbage. They don't know a quality show when they see one or Hunters would still be in production.
James B.'s story breaks my heart every time I hear about it. Such an innocent child, such a profound sense of loss for those who loved and knew him. It's disgusting that the 2 responsible for killing him are free with new identities. The mother can't live a day without remembering what happened to her son, why should they get a fresh start? They knew what they were doing. 100%.
I agree 100%. That case is one that will haunt me for the rest of MY life. I can’t even begin to imagine how it haunts little James’ mother. Juveniles or not, they knew exactly what they were doing, they admitted it, we all heard them admit it. They should have been transferred to an adult facility when they became of age, and kept there for the rest of their natural lives. Monsters.
Especially if you read about the perpetrators as they grew up. The one has been in and out of prison for possession of child abuse materials, they need to just lock him up. Nope he's out. It's only time until he hurts another child. I cannot believe the system protected them as hard as they did.
Agreed it made me so mad when I heard this story. Barely served term then received new identities and they’re still protected. Probably married with children of their own living freely. Foh
@27:08: Imagine being a small-town cop walking into Gein's house. Middle of the night. You wake to answer the call: Eddie Gein's house? He's harmless. He's a babysitter! The house is pitch black. No juice. Just your flashlight. You yawn as you're tripping over moldering trash. Then you find four noses in a bowl in the kitchen.
I was weirded out by clowns before Gacy, but you’re more than half right. I was born in ‘66, and he cemented my full blown coulrophobia, without a doubt.
I live in the greater Milwaukee area. When the Dahmer story broke, I owned a rental property. One of my tenants was dating a Milwaukee Police Officer. His former partner was the one who was first inside Dahmer's apartment that night. He was the one who opened the refrigerator. It really messed him up as there was no way to know what he was about to see. Jeffery also had worked at a chocolate factory, and I knew someone from there that told me he knew who he was, and he was just someone who was really weird. Jeffery and another infamous criminal, Jesse Anderson, were both killed in prison some years later.
I was watching a story about a 19 year old he wanted to know what it was like to kill someone. He chopped up a homeless man and left his legs and arms under a local bridge and took home the head and the hands. His mother finds the head in the kids room and calls police and then police come out and confirm it's a human head. They arrest this kid and on the way to the police station they cross this bridge where half the body parts are. They go and check it out one of the cops who looked to me like regular uniformed police officers and not detectives of any kind, one of the cops says, "Yeah. We're gonna have to get CSU out here. I found an arm." But they way he said it was just so nonchalant. I wonder how any of them don't have PTSD. And how they're able just to shut off their emotions. Like, you're finding the body parts of a once human being. How horrible can things get?
What a chilling and deeply personal connection to such a notorious case. It's a stark reminder of the real-life trauma and lasting effects events like these have on those directly or indirectly involved, from the officers on the scene to the people who crossed paths with someone like Dahmer. The details you shared, like his odd demeanor and the ripple effects of that night, paint a vivid picture of how these tragedies impact an entire community. Thank you for sharing such a unique perspective on such a haunting story.
The photo that Israel Keyes took of his last victim is disturbing. He left the photo where authorities would find it as proof of life to get money out of the victims' family, but she was actually already dead; he had sewn her eyes open.
Mary Kelly (one of Jack the Rippers victims) crime scene photo was taken of the Nov 9th 1888 murder. It's absolutely brutal. Hinterkaifeck photos are also really eerie.
One of the women William (Bill) Bradford photographed for his collection was the sister of actress Eva LaRue, known for her role in CSI: Miami. Her sister was No. 3 out of 54 photos on a poster released by the LA Sheriff's Department to help identify living victims. The incident was later referenced in the show.
My mom worked at the hospital they had to bring David Berkowitz to. He was heavily guarded only 1 nurse and doctor were given access to him, she walked by his room and got a peek at him told me he seemed very sick, not right in the head-not that he actually heard a dog say things to him but to make shit up for attention…
The power of photography is that is captures everything, unlike an AI image or a painting, a photo will capture everything in view in a fraction of a second. Nothing escapes the frame. The dirt, dust, people's faces, movements of items in the breeze, the clouds, sun, plants, you name it's all there. That's why photos are so visceral and in this instance this is what gives photos so much power to bring to life the horrendous nature of how twisted and warped some people truly are. Photos like that one of Wilder or Chapman, just send shivers down your spine.
@15:46: Metesky had a beef with ConEd after being injured on the job. His campaign of bombings in public areas of NYC went on for sixteen (16) years, though he wrote a note saying he'd take WW2 (1941-51) off. He planted bombs everywhere: Radio City. Grand Central. Penn Station. The RCA building. Also of note: This was the first criminal profiling case. A police psychiatrist said the Mad Bomber would be wearing a buttoned double-breasted suit when found. Sure enough...
Ed Gein wasn't just a body snatcher like you indicated here, but rather a serial killer. While only having two confirmed murder victims to his name, Gein is actually suspected to have killed at least 7 more people including his own brother Henry.
Today my boss said he would worry about me working alone at night after all the managers left for a party. I may appear old and frail, but I'm heavily armed, sir. I don't even watch television, mostly just news. No harm in being prepared.
FBI stats for 2023- over 13,789 men were killed in violent crimes versus 3,849 women. When women are murdered it tends to make the news. Not so much when men are murdered. Just an fyi🤔
Saying Dahmer went Breaking Bad is supid. If anything it was the other way around. Dahmers spree happened 20 years before Breaking Bad was even made. Thats just dumb.
I honk the creepiest for me is Colombine shooting You just see class of 1999 taking their year book pics and little did they know that harmless gun gesture pose would be their reality it’s sad when you think about it they were about to graduate and some never got to
If you ever get to Melbourne, check out the Old Melbourne Gaol. They have a pile of death masks in there including Ned Kelley. All were hung for their crimes and on some, you can even stll see the rope marks. Very ghoulish but then, it's how things were back in those days.
The reason those death masks (and death masks in general) look "eerily familiar" is because they're molded from the actual faces of the dead victims. C'mon AskMojo, you can do better than this. It is interesting how many clips from _Mindhunter_ you're using.
Your story of Jodi Arias and Travis Alexander was incorrect. She did not make her way into the house while he showered. She had spent several hours with him, they took sexual photos and she asked him to pose different ways in the shower. The fear in his eyes were real when he realized what she was about to do. Several were creepy photos, indeed. A couple I hadn't seen.
One creepy photo that should've been included is the one with Pablo Escobar posing in front of The White House. It was taken during the time he was running his cocaine business.
The last photo of Travis Alexander before Jodi Arias killed him is more haunting than her bizarre interview room behavior, both of which I saw on her _Murder Made Me Famous_ episode.
He was Australian by birth. I was 14 when he was active. I remember following the case right up until he died in New Hampshire. It's a tragic but interesting story if you get the chance to look it up.
I've mentioned it before, but I know someone (a friend of my Dad's), who used to be part of Charles Manson's "family". He got out before things got ugly, and my dad was his confidant about that chapter in his past. He was absolutely astounded that I knew, when I told him Dad had told his wife and kids, but we'd kept mum about it otherwise, to protect him. I only broke my silence about it with him after Manson finally died. I asked him how he felt about that, and he said, "relief." He's spent his whole life looking over his shoulder, in a manner of speaking. Afraid if Manson remembered him, he'd be a dead man. Or if others knew, they'd make his life difficult for once having associated with him. He's lived a normal life, married and raised a family. Totally ordinary dude. Other surviving members of Manson's former "family" are likely still out there, not guilty of any crime, but preferring to keep a low profile for the sake of their loved ones.
Even profilers from the FBI say that. A 17 year old kid, who was a petty criminal, gets caught probably in the middle of trying to steal some stuff, and then he's beat with full-size phone books of Chicago, so he confesses, go figure!!!
In his own way he wants to be there for him one last time before turning him in. Also if he ran like that, imagine what Hadley would do to him. Hadley would kill him before he can make it downstairs
That’s the important question. Hopefully one day we will be able to answer this question, and maybe stop predators before they can actually harm people.
