Using Active Foam on a daily driven coated car that doesnt get maintenance’d every week (once a month or two) can help break down road grime to help the coating breathe. This is crucial before you contact wash with your high lubricity soap to prevent scratching the coating even if they’re abrasion resistant. Like someone else said we always top off the coatings anyways. This video was great to understand the pH ratings of soaps and their intent behind it, helping us use the products more efficiently 🙌🏼

The nice thing about Active foam is that it also comes down to around ph7 when diluted 10:1 in a cannon once it goes through a moderate output pressure washer, similar to P and s pearl, Meguiar's Hyper Wash and Carpro reset which aren't neutral when concentrated but become neutral when diluted as recommended.

I added a oz of GS with 2 oz of GSF to my IK9 with a gallon of water .. i did a pre foam, rinse, 2nd foam before the contact wash. Def helped .. my wash bucket remained clean considering all the road salt and crap that was on the car.

There does seem to be a difference in what we want out of a snow foam in the UK and what you want in the USA. In the UK, if a snow foam hasn’t got a bit of bite and decent cleaning power then it’s no good. That’s why GSF was never popular and something like Bilt Hamber AutoFoam is bought by practically everyone. A little alkaline won’t harm waxes or sealants as Jon on the Forensic Detailing showed a couple of months back. We all top up the protection regularly anyway.

Now I have a question, what is the the difference between Koch-Chemie Active Wasche (PH8) and Koch-Chemie Auto Shampoo (AS) (PH 9,0)? Let alone Koch chemie active foam.. Is it only the 1 grade in PH scale?

How often would you recommend Active Foam for a daily driven vehicle that is ceramic coated?

I have the same question. I've heard/read from some that say AF is not to be used weekly on a coated car while others say it's safe. I'd like something where I can alternate weeks of contact washes with just foam and rinse weeks.

@@CTTH100 yeah the rag company unfortunately never seems to reply.. but I’m thinking you definitely wouldn’t want to use it every wash or even every other wash unless your car just gets hammered all the time. Although coatings are highly resistant to higher ph levels, I still believe it could degrade it quicker if used too often. I’m just going to aim to use it once every 2-3 months. I never do contactless washes though

@MiataPower96 Yeah, thinking same. It just gets mild road grime, so since it's washed weekly, no real chance to build up. I think GSF may suffice.

@@CTTH100 yeah I’d think so. My plan to wash weekly-biweekly with a PH neutral soap such as GSF. Then every 3 months foam with Active Foam, rinse, and contact wash with Gyeon Restart Wash to help tackle some of the iron deposits as well

@MiataPower96 Good plan. I use Gyeon Ceramic Detailer every 6 weeks. Love that stuff. Every 3-4 months, I use Gyeon Iron to decon.

Here in Europe you can get active foam in 10L containers, much more economical at 5-6 euro per liter

I was testing some colognes the other day and I came across one that smells a lot like active foam, haha.
It was called Armani Code Parfum, not a cheap fragrance by any means either.
Quality product…..with a quality smell, haha.
I use it as a maintenance pre-wash and it just works…it’s a must have.

Do generic spray nozzles fit on the 1 Litre bottles of Koch Chemie(as seen on the bottle on the very right in the video)? The bottles I bought all came with just a cap.
