I'd say it was, but with smart phones a lot has changed over the past 15 years. But yeah it was definitely like this probably up until 2006 . All you ever knew were the people in your small town, what you saw on TV, or friends you made in other small towns in your area, through sports/extracurricular activities at school. It was OJ. Orange Juice and egg was a fairly common breakfast drink before the salmonella scares in the 1970's. That tended to kill most recipes with raw egg.

I used to work on an egg farm in Arkansas about five years ago. The pay was $40 a day from 7am to 2pm 6 days a week. Perks of the job...all the eggs you could eat!
