K I.T.T. can't actually stop Michael but refuses to participate in something he felt puts Michael at too great a risk.
Moments later, Michael returns the sentiment by informing K.I.T.T. of the intention of going thru a concrete wall but says he will abort if K.I.T.T. says he can't do it.
It's rather endearing that they want to protect each other.
Ah yes, the "security golf cart" will definitely catch up to K.I.T.T for sure.
Our pal didn't have Super Pursuit mode yet.

I like it when Michael and Devon hug, especially after Michael supposedly shot Devon earlier in this episode but was actually staged. Also shows how close their relationship has come since the pilot "Knight of the Phoenix". Plus they hug again in the Knight Rider 2000 movie.

One of my favorite episodes. To me, it seemed like this episode had a higher production value than others (KITT's voice sounded better, the video call from Devin at the beginning was actually shown from another angle, etc.). I've always wondered why.
I agree, and I remember reading that this video call from Devon involved fitting an actual TV tube into the dash of Kitt for this episode, to give a more realistic feel to the conversation.
It certainly looks very real, and not just a video effect.

That camera seen I think (I hope I'm thinking of the right one) was the one that was originally gonna be in person, face to face with devon and michael but later changed it
Knight Rider Historians say that the hero dash in the hero car was finally complete and they wanted to show it off on basically its debut day. Just like in the Pilot and a few episodes in the TV's actually worked
Night 2000 is tough as usual.
This was such a great episode. Very dark.
After this Michael spills the beans to KITT. I don't understand how Michael was comfortable doing so seeing KITT was compromised.

Yeah, that did seem a little too easy. The sound effect used gives an appearance that Kitts voice operates on FM, and can be subject to interference and override-ence.
In my car I have an early 2000s Drive and Play iPod transmitter that works that way. It is similarly affected by interference from La Salle, Berio, Randy, Graham Deauville - to name just a few.

At 5:01 looks like Kitt's front end around the scanner is damaged, nice attention to detail.
That was the prop car for the upcoming gun shots. Often when you see KITT being shot at, and sparks flying they're actually squibs in the front end of the car being released.
that is a Rubber Cover over the body of KITT, they use it for scene like this and in MANY MANY more episodes

The actor playing the security guard, who initially reports their presence on the grounds, is beyond hopeless and terrible. One of the most laughable set of moments of the whole series, he can barely deliver his lines, tries to make a buggy look like it’s travelling fast; he’s can’t even register how dangerous this intruder is (just steps out from behind a wall and goes “No!”, like that’s gonna prompt somebody to freeze); fires his gun half-assed, throwing the barrel in the air like a cowboy and gives a dumb, useless look to another off-camera, who joins him to take chase. Pursuing the same high performance car he could barely keep track of, that’s clearly unstoppable.
“Knight Rider” at some of its worst, letting down one of the best, later 3rd Season episodes. Hasselhoff in that year was all over the place with his performances. Just like Jan-Michael Vincent was in *his* 3rd year of “Airwolf”. For some reason, these hi-tech action shows took their toll on their leading men’s focus. Both wore thin of sitting in small, confined spaces, pressing buttons, yanking controls, speaking technical dialogue for the most part. David returned to form somewhat in the 4th Season of “KR”, but his lines got worse. A shame after the heights of the first 2 seasons of a once great show.
