Shawn Fain will actually cost union members jobs.
Shawn Fain is Fat and happy making 450,000 a year.
UAW would certainly be able to recognize illegal behaviour.
The UAW calling Mercedes corrupt that's the pot calling the kettle black❤❤
After we voted it No they have to contest it, that’s a lot of UAW dues going to stay in the employees pockets. Can’t have that..
Did I hear right? $5000 a year? 😬
US workers need to learn how to live on that. It's coming sooner than later.
@@wt9653bullshit
Yeah that's why we went all in on humanoid robot
Depending upon factory location, salary is different (i.e., San Jose & Louisville pays differently), the Shenzhen BYD factory worker average monthly base salary is about 8000 yuan (about 1300 USD) a month, in central China the average is 6000 yuan. It’s all relative to the cost of living, no forced labor, no child labor and higher than Foxconn (makes iPhone, iPad, MacBook) because higher skill set needed. OT is commonly expected. Large Chinese factory offers benefits like dorm, meal subsidy….and their retirement (i.e., social security, Medicare) and insurance cost is very low, so it’s not an apple to apple comparison to American auto worker; and they do make less than American counter part relatively speaking. No idea what this video is talking about.
$5000 a _YEAR?_ No wonder BYD can sell their cars for so little.
Do you think they have the same standard of living cost of someone in New York?!
@@davidmccarthy6061 Nope. NY is a bad example though, because even within the US NY is very high.
Cadilac a standard of the world??? Only an American could make such bs claim
Listen, even junk has classifications! 😂

Congrats to Tim Kuniskis!
It's fine if they want to unionize to collectively bargain but, if what they want is to match the Ford/GM/Stellantis contracts they would be pricing themselves out a job in the future.
No ... That's what your state legislators tell you... While getting kick backs from companies like Mercedes. These companies are getting rich off of your ignorance and slave mentality 🤦🏽♂️
Price War? Where? All I see is lots overflowing with overpriced inventory nobody can afford.
Global = not USA
This Baidu robotaxi looks like something from 2034. Appreciate all the hard work from the Autoline team. Would have no idea something like that existed w/o you! Good work.
cruise robotaxi and waymo robotaxi is better and autopilot tesla
All the rabid anti union posters here must have skipped the part where BYD workers make 5 grand a year. That's the future ya'll are fighting for.
The thing is unions are needed but they can't force ppl to unionize if they lose they blame the auto make that they did something they just can't take the L and see that the workers are happy with there job look at tesla in sweden they are trying to force the workers to unionize with simpothy strikes and threatening workings dose that sound like they are for the workers or themselves
Actually ALL OF YOU are ignoring AI/robotics which will delete jobs. Massive disruptions are on the horizon and NOBODY Is giving this transition any work at all... Truly insane
I buy American built cars, never will one be made by any union. Choice, is good.
@@DanaVastmanseeing your deep concerns should l give you a hint
robots will very likely replace you and whatever you do . But will not replace any of us that fixes robots and machines
💯
Great show as usual! Thanls AutoLine!
A lot of good info in a relatively short video, appreciate it
@9:49 Too true. There's _never_ a dull moment.
Why isn't the supplier rating inclusive of Tesla? We have heard many stories of how they hold payments (A.P.) to suppliers, single-source suppliers and drive prices down by offering them "future products" (Model 2 volume anyone) and then reneg on such a product.
I suspect those stories are by the Paid Putin Posse - always trying to damage EVs and Tesla is the biggest target.
Wdym by offering them future products?
@@turkialjadani168 “hey vendor. Give us a discount now on parts we need and we will give you the high volume future project. But only if you do discounts now. Sign here.” This is how buyer leverage shenanigans happen. In many industries.
75% of all Mercedes sales in Europe are fleet sales.
Mercedes sells garbage trucks.
Mercedes makes garbage trucks.
That would be commercial vehicles you didn't know Mercedes actually builds and sells real truck did you. :))
@@JohnH1 What real truck does Mercedes build and sell? In America the F-150 is the best selling truck. How many millions of trucks does Mercedes sell every year?
@@davidbeppler3032 It's people like you who give Americans a bad name. They sell 455,000 trucks per year.
When you need two to fill for one position, that's how you know he was amazing at his job
Thank you for the weekly updates, cheers.
Hydrogen cost 11/2 times more electricity to produce than gasoline or electricity.
And only get 400miles tesla semi is cheaper long run and has more range 😂
Didn’t Shell shut down their hydrogen stations in California?
Toyota gives 3 years or $15,000 for Hydrogen for it's Mirai after that you're on your own ,like $180 to $200 per fillup, and good luck finding those Fuel stations now that Shell has exited California .used 2022 Mirai now average $8,000 to $10,000.😂
I think it's more than that. See Michael Bernard (electrify everything)
Did you just say hydrogen costs more electricity to produce than electricity costs electricity to produce?
Thank you, Sean, the Highlander.❤
In Europe cars are a luxury perk given to executives. With a 21% sales tax, and huge fees across the board, a company car which is a great perk, because if they gave you an extra 15k a year, the govt would take half of it... so better to receive a fringe benefit that is taxed very low.
What’s interesting is the comment that Tesla service and residuals is poor, so the Chinese automakers are being looked at. I’d be surprised if they will offer any better service centers.
“A hand-made Cadillac - because you can’t afford a Rolls-Royce”
Body by Fisher, are you hearing me Cadillac?
Now let's see where Ram and Doge will go with legend retrying
That class 8 truck is just a day cab with all that bulky machine tacked on!
Makes me want to buy a third Mercedes
Gotta get used to you guys recapping the news at the end. It's weird, but it makes sense lol. Oh well.
Missed a few of GM news about the Equinox EV ready for to take orders and their new home charging network where their EVs could power your house during a power outage.
sucks that Kuniskis retires, FCA should of hired him some help.
Nationalist Compliance meaning that the product is strictly made in that country.
And Stellantis makes and promotes the All American Jeep in Italy?
@@michaeloreilly657 The Renagade?
Tesla will never get past mid-level three driver assist until it gives up on camera-only.
babysmurf9000’s folly!
So those BYD employees can't even afford the cheap $11K car after an entire year of salary. Compare that to a UAW worker whose yearly salary buys 3-4 of the low end vehicle. Either BYD employees are paid too little or UAW are paid too much.
Who would join the UAW after they screwed over the GM workers? Good for Mercedes workers.
The auto industry deserves a better union than the uaw.
How did they screw GM I am uninformed?
that's amazing 5K a year.
You couldn't swing housing on 5 k a year, but maybe tent living is more your style
@@jeffcarroll3831 Yeah, and the CEO of BYD is worth 16 billion. Their communism looks like it incorporates the worst of capitalism.
Conservatives) What part of the average Chinese auto worker makes $5000 a year don’t you get? How do (usa) workers compete ?
Sad to see Tim Kuniskis leave. Stellantis does not care about Dodge or Chrysler anymore.
If he cared about Dodge he would have offered better product and more variety. Killing the van was the dumbest thing ever.
Tim needs to be out but it makes no sense for Fuelle to takeover Ram as she has enough to deal with fixing the Chrysler brand.
Great! Sounds like the Mercedes employees had some common sense!!
Licking the billionaires boots doesn't make you any richer my dude.
Good luck to fleet owners getting service from China brands.
Semi with H2FC. Do they know that H2FC only last 50,000 miles? Avery tiny worklife for truck use. Just Wait and see.
Hydrogen has no future when it's selling for over $30 a kg. Good luck convincing truck companies to pay 5x the operating costs for hydrogen compared to diesel.
I heard a rumor that GM is bringing back the gas-powered Hummer H2! Oh, wait no, that's just my fantasy...
They're keeping v8s alive so you never know!
Very Wise Voters *****
A certain current Presidential candidate with a weird hair thing going on back during his campaign in 2016 said that American workers make too much money. Wages were too high. …and we need Lower wages for workers. This is the future a certain political party is fighting for that also fights against unions. If this certain political candidate wins you can be sure he means what he says about worker wages.
1:39 LOL!! TAVARES end up been worst than Sergio M... Chrysler and Dodge are dead...only Jeep and Ram survived, this is sad for a Chrysler fan I have 8 Chrysler in my Garage right now from the best years 2005 to 2015
So you are stating that your garage is empty?
The only one that was worse than Sergio was Eaton.
Milano; Polando, meh.
The little mouse got flagged.
How come anyone in China can wander into the US, but not these auto workers?
Put the pipe down, you're not making any sense.
Good job Bama
Union, yes!
Changed my mind on hydrogen - never good. See Michael Bernard (electrify everything)
Bruhaha is French for hubbub. Pronounced bru-ah, doesn't sound as stupid.
That Honda fuel cell truck looks like the dumbest thing ever. Who cares if it has a 400 mile range, the fuel tanks take the place of a bunk. Who cares if it can go 400 miles if it essentially a day cab. This is proof of the problem with hydrogen vehicles, fuel storage/energy density. Diesel isn't going away anytime soon!
It will be quite embarrassing to Tesla if BaiDu beats them to the Robotaxi punch, since Tesla has been working it longer than just about anyone.
Mercedes has a more advanced system, I have no doubt Baidu will also beat Tesla.
@@JohnH1 - Well Mercedes is limited to 37 mph in very restricted areas. Tesla is limited to 85 mph and has very few restrictions. Maybe in 10 years Mercedes will catch up to what Tesla offers today.
I dont get all the anti union hate. Its not up to us to be mad at this decision. Its up to the workers. It seems the automkaers didnt want to improve the workers' pay and quality of time. What do you realistically think will happen?
Unions can, of course suck but it's human nature to respond with a bad situation with a potential explosive response. If it all comes crumbling down then oh well. All parties at fault.
UAW does seem like they have some questionable history.
I saw a few interviews of the workers, and especially for Mercedes, I am not impressed with how they treat workers.
Key word in your final statement is "a few". So you are going to ignore the opinion of the majority that voted to not unionize, not forgetting the nearly 50% who declined to vote?
I am pretty sure if what you said was true for the majority, they'd all have grabbed the opportunity get back at Mercedes, but nope!
@@thabzmad7265we Voted no because it’s not bad here and the UAW is not needed at the Tuscaloosa Plant. At this moment UAW is holding up Mercedes from changing anything with this waist of time.
I hope the other transplant manufacturers continue to reject the UAW. I absolutely dislike Shawn Fain.
Mercedes workers are smart enough to know that those A.I. humanoids will be deployed so fast that their heads will spin. They voted to keep their jobs another 5 years.
Abolish unions
