CT70 Resto: Odometer Fraud! Lights, Brakes
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 окт 2024
- This week, we get our 1974 Honda CT70 ready to be inspected by a DMV official to start the process of getting a title. We replaced the tail light lens, installed new turn signals, and added new front brake shoes. Unfortunately I ordered the wrong cable kit, so the new speedometer didn't work. We attached a drill to the cable to make sure the speedometer and odometer worked.
Thanks for Watching!

Only CarandCameras could make soldering wires together so award winning dramatic! I love it haha!!!
zapper twoseven ❤️
Watching this sequence makes me think of MCM and how many times they've been told not to solder car wiring (i know it;ll be fine...)
Florida all you need is title and bill of sale and they give you your plates
Your ct70 is gunna be a monster
Love the dramatically triumphant music as Ike solders! Lol
It made it almost depressing
Aww you heckers and your teasing!!!!!!! Can't wait to see what Ike found!
Nothing like bringing an old toy back to life. Just resurrected a 1988 Honda Elite 250. What a blast to ride.
oh my gosh! The light wiring edit is everything!!
CT70 as featured in " Vanishing Point ", oh the memories
Those LED bulbs are a godsend. If you have a vibration prone socket , you wont fly though them like traditional ones and SO BRIGHT.
We're probably going to jail for this one...
CarsandCameras good luck?!
It was only a matter of time, eh? How much time do you reckon you'll get?
why is the video quality so low?
youtube uploads the lower quality first, it'll be fine
CarsandCameras the tail light is bright but John isn't
I have a box of parts ordered off the net that arrived and didn't work. Most of them are cables. I feel your pain John, I feel your pain.
Ya could get a title for anything in Florida I love it lol
Brings back so many memories of my 2ct 70s 3-speed automatics obviously I was too young to register them but probably one of the best trail bikes ever made and I also had to Z 50s took them out of junk piles in the mid-70s and got them running I wish I still had them worth so much money now but besides the money so fun to ride
In perfect condition the z50 is worth $4k yes its tons more than original price but not worth having to basically keep the bike in a museum and not enjoy it to get that price. If you built yours then it would never be worth the money of an original. The brand new remake z50 is more fun with more power. But more expensive
I just finished completely restoring my own ct70 same colour way as yours :)
Love the Build. I really like the Cars and Cameras intro with the pull start.
Those little CT70's are awesome, love this build.
new hampshire all you need is a bill of sale older then 2000
reminds me of my first bike .... a honda z50j ..... that thing was crazy .... still sitting up at the farm needing a re ring and have everything freed up
Can't wait till Monday for another video !!!
My dad’s trail 70 throttle didn’t return in the 70s... I’m not too surprised yours doesn’t in 2018.
super strict there on the east coast(i know i grew up in ct)...we have to do a bond here in az if you dont have the title but everything else is left up the the rider to get...here we require a horn a head light and a brake lightbut with no inspection...we used to do a full inspection here which was fun running my xr600 through emissions, they even had me do the rollers and that was tricky... after i left some guy nearly killed himself trying to do the rollers and sued so now we have no regulation
luv how your waiting till next week to tell us abouyt a ct70 that ike got that you already showed us on the last video !
Really don't want to get off topic because the bike is SWEET, but I don't think I can wait until Monday to see the 200cc shifter kart. Any chance we could get a 20-30 second vid of a rip around the yard on the kart 😁😁😁😁😁? Keep up the good work guys, love your channel!
longer vids pleasaase!! You guys are Killen me!
I had so much fun on one of those when I was a kid .
In Montana you can grind off the off road vehicles Vin number then a VIN inspector will come to your house and apply a new Vin plate then you file for new title for the new Vin number it's super easy I just did it with my banshee because it was easier that filing for lost or breakbond title.
Off road Wed is my favorite!
OOOH Ho just saw the drag kart...AWESOME on the green...And Yes this build is AWESOME as well
I love new intro guys, great work.
Australia Queensland is more simple for the registration, you need bill of sale and an inspector to say it's got for the road. Annnd off you go. With my trailer i just need vin and id. You guys done an amazing job on the ct-70. Bring back the "mighty atv"
The process is similar in Arkansas. No safety inspections for cars, I'd imagine they wouldn't want one on a bike either. You just have to get a vin verification from the state police, apply for a bonded title, get a title bond, then BOOM title.
You dudes are an excellent duo I love the 70 cc bike 🏍 resto !
I received my cars and cameras merch love the channel I am addicted you guys are great thank you so much Brandon from Hixson TN
john and icca Oreilly auto part has a rebuild cable that you slide in and cut might want to look into it if the old housing is good keep up the good work .
13:40 --that's the benefit of living alone it doesn't matter if its dark wet and rainy I just turn my kitchen into a paint booth and can paint whenever and being up in eastern canada its always dark cold wet and rainy or like right now theres 3 foot of snow
John if your cable housing is good you can go to Oreillys and buy a replacement cable in length
Yesssss i love the ct70 build and it makes me want to get one but i cant find one in my area
Galaxyzz 2 when u search like craigslist & what not cuz some of the older people call them trail70's cuz of the trail 90's and trail110's are what the american versions are called of those bigger 90's & 110's bikes nstead of the ct90 & ct110 so some of the older people call the ct70s trail70's cuz they think that logic was for all models but I always stumble across a few a month on craigslist under the trail70 name
You're better off buying a 2018 Honda grom for around $3400
Seems like the people that have them have like 20 of them... you just need to find your local expert
In Arizona all we have to do is get a inspection meaning it has a horn to mirrors turn signals headlight high low break light. Then you take your certification to DMV and get a title.
In Michigan, I had the Sheriff come out and inspect my bike. Had to meet all the requirements on a form he has, if you pass he will sign it and then you take that to the SOS and they will mail you a title it was quite easy. That was to register a dirt bike for the road
That was a solid tail light purchase! good job John
Majestic soldering
Hey guys, fellow North Carolina resident and I’m a salesman at a giant Porsche only warehouse, seen the 944 if you need parts look us up dc automotive rocky mount nc, ask for Randy I’ll help you guys out. Love the videos!
MrThatampguy thanks
Editing and content keep getting better, nice work gents. love from Socal
Martin Ramirez john does a great job
You guys Luckey to get motors jealous but injoy your videos and keep up the good work
Ooooohhhhh, the suspense is just KILLING ME!!
so nice to be without the return, cant really deal with it since i learned to ride on a bike where the return was broken
But be respectful to it that is gold you have
I'm going to use my psychic powers and forsee a green ct70 in the suburban.
fuckery abounds I think so
Its yellow btw
I agree but It might be blue.
All I can see in the crystal ball Is a filthy frame with its fair share of rust
Pretty sure the FB had a yellow one
If the bike is over 30 years old it's really easy in SC.all you need is the vin,75 bucks and an inspection and about it.takes about 2 months but you'll get it.
I had a trail 70 when I was 10...my first bike, not long after getting it all fixed up and running good some kid stole it, I loved that bike...😒
I watch your show all the time love everything y'all do y'all should build a twin motor mini motorcycle
Thanks man!
Super easy to get anything you want on the road in Arizona.
In Western Australia,
If i saw an unlicensed CT 70 and wanted to buy it, you pay the bloke, get a receipt then you make sure it is road worthy, and basically take it to the cops they "Take it over the Pits" or check it for road worthiness, assuming it is, it is licensed you pay the fees and off you go.
I dont even know if you have to produce a Receipt for purchasing it.
IF you are buying a second hand car out of the paper or wherever it is basically the same and if it is licensed, you have to pay a transfer fee to your name, and that's about it unless the license is due off you drive I think their is a buyers Licence check to make sure it isnt stolen you can ring but that is Up to you
Thank you for giving me the pleasure of tricking myself into saying "Yew Nork" today.
dratv.com as in dr-atv I believe ther out of kansas but they have everything & anything for classic Honda's from the z50's & ct70's to atc70's & trail110s they have both original and also all the cloned stuff that works and bolts right up even complete motors with trannys along with 6 to 12volt conversion kits they also have exhaust kits.. I've restored 2 trail 90's, honda atc 70 & 2 trail 110s and thats who I got my parts from
not in ks they are in neb
Theresa George thank you my bad but ur right
The important thing as far as getting a bike legally back on the road is registration (i.e. getting plates). Many states allow you to register an old bike without a title. You have to check with your DMV to see what their policy is. Having a title is nice if you're selling the bike (because a lot of sellers don't want to buy a bike without one), but you might not need to go down that route.
There are titles in Ny after 1975 (may be off a little on the year). Before that the registration is transferable. But you still have to go through a process if the registration is lost.
I hope ya'll have better luck than I did trying 12v LEDs on a 6 volt system. Mine did live about a month or 2 and started dying a few leds at a time. It seemed like 2-3 would burn out at a time every time I cranked it and over a week they were all gone. I ended up building led panels that fit in the factory lights with a bridge rectifier (convert the ac to dc) and resistor to run at 10 volts (in case of any voltage spikes).
Where I live in northern Wisconsin you can ride almost anything on the street you will see Mavericks rolling around occasionally
My buddy has two of them...one has a 3 speed manual trans with an auto clutch(its gold) and the other has a 4 speed manual trans with a hand clutch (its red)
the music made me feel all introspective. "what am i doing with my life? can i be a butterfly? am i a caterpillar? can i get a title for my minibike as easily here in CO?"
sunsweetsuitable 😁😂
Love your guys channel wish I could come build my go cart with you guys it’s a yerf dog 2 seater and it could honestly hold a 670 easily but I’d like to run a 420 on it !
I had an 83 model. It was a little better. It was 12v suspension was slightly better. The handle bars were different. The ones yall have are the collectible ones though. That's what everybody wants. Same deal with the 50's. That style is what sells. super fun. If I still had them I'd ride them everyday.
Hi guys love the channel been watching the channel for 2 yrs and can you guys do more ib the drag build and try to make it hit 100 mph and pls add a gear box on it
Dang, that is a lot to go through to get a Title.
I live in Las Vegas, NV. All you need is a Legal DMV Bill of Sale Signed and Dated by both Seller/Buyer, have the VIN verified by DMV, and go file for a "Loss of Title", after about 30-365 days, you will some day get a title.
Obviously, all lights need to work that originally came on the bike from the factory, if it didn't have turn signals, you do not need them. But in my case (Headlight, Taillight/Brakelight, Turn Signals Front/Rear), Horn, and Speedometer. I can not remember if you need a Working Odometer on a Bike with less than 125cc's. On cars, after 10-Years of age, the Odometer is exempt.
It took about 5-6 months to final get my title after waiting for my 1994 Honda CT70.
About that title, it's easy as pie in Oklahoma. You just go to the tag agency with a notarized bill of sale, pay a fee, ands they ship the new title to you in a few days. My dad and I have gotten numerous titles over the course of my life and not one was a hassle.
love the new intro
I had the same CT70 as a kid and almost positive the turn signals are manual blink action.
Oh yeah and a big boo hisss on the cliffhanger.... ; )
Looking great 👍🏆
In Indiana, it's a bit of a process. More so if it doesn't have a VIN number. After doing it several times, it's not so bad. Like a lot of things, first time is always a pain.
Jason Griffin I live in Indiana and see vehicles on Craigslist with no title all the time. What is the process?
JOHNNY ROD KNOCK Bill of sale, go to DMV, they'll give you a paper that a policeman fills out when he checks the vehicle, go back to DMV, get title.
JOHNNY ROD KNOCK You can get an official Bill of sale at the DMV. Have the seller fill it out and sign.
Indiana gang
note: I bought an LED interior light(1) for my 1998 chevy truck, instaalled it and no workie, turned it around then it worked! where i'm going with this is your blinkers dont blink, so if you can, turn them around and maybe they will blink?
Love the intro
In Michigan I had a Colman ct100u from walmart. I contacted Colman to get a MCO thay asked what the vin is that’s on the bike and what size motor was on it to make a mco. Got it in mail brought it to the dmv and told them I put head light, blinkers break and running lights on it. They asked for the mco and wanted it registered as a moped. It cost me $30 and I got a moped sticker. And I can now ride it. Last month it got stolen but will definitely do it again!!!!!
The process varies greatly from state to state. Here in Florida it's essentially impossible to get a title for a vehicle. A mechanic or dealer can go through a process but your average Joe is simply out of luck.
New york actually is really tough to get a title or registration. They dont do the insurance bond, so youve gotta bring it to dmv, have them take the vin to verify its that bikes vin, and theres more to the process but not worth typing for 30 minutes lol. Maine and vermont are super easy to get paperwork!
I about died when you guys were testing tail lights and the screws fell out
Here in Indiana it's pretty easy. Bill of sale can be on the back of a receipt from a convenience store.
I'll have to correct you on that Ike. A lot of the stuff here in New York requires a title to get it registered. Especially more recent vehicles. By recent I mean vehicles from the 80's to now require a title to get road worthy. I'm not sure about anything from the 70's though. I've never got to own any classic vehicles.
Now, if you bought a vehicle that doesn't have a title you need a bill of sale to get a title. You can't register a vehicle with a bill of sale. I know this as I had to part with a nice 89 Ford F-150 a few years ago because it had no title to it.
I think anything from the 60's and older, if there's no title with it you can have it registered as a "Historical" vehicle so you get special plates with that. Some off road machines, regardless of it having a title cannot be registered for public use. Like the old Honda ATC's and their other brand equivalents. Even some dirt bikes can't be registered for road use.
Here in my area of NY UTV's have some road ability. If they're registered and have a slow vehicle triangle they can go short distances on road since they're used by farmers. But they are still not 100% legal like some other states.
As for the no-title deal, it might be Vermont you're thinking about. You don't need a title to register a used car/vehicle there as used vehicles don't come with one. :)
Don't worry about the throttle return it's just Cruze control
We most definitely have and are required to have titles in New York
mduval140 I think it’s 74 and older. I had a 74 coupe deville that didn’t need a title, but for everything after that you are required to have a title.
Heh, the epic soldering montage was great. XD
Ike is a master at work
here in ny I've titled old snowmobiles and bikes. as long as you've "owned " it for more then 8 years I think
the drama slow mode it great master place to be made
Caterpillar season, that is really funny
Get ahold of a couple Honda Z50's...great fun! Did have a Trail 70, could wind it out to 80km/h if you tried hard enough lol
A company called Alsa makes a chrome paint. I've seen a couple reviews here on RUclips. You might give that a try and do a review.
love the intro guys its awsome!! ;-)
aint the pipe going towards the turn signal enjoy watching ur videos
Yes! Another CT70!
In Tennessee, if it has turn signals and head and brake lights it’s legal
When Mr. Honda got into the motorcycle bussniss & became successful, he vowed as long as he was alive, parts for his bike would be available. That was true. But now he's gone & Honda only stocks 10 years to the rear. A lot of parts are still available. But a lot of the absolute necessary parts are rare, & valuable.
I just registered mine with no bill of sale got my plates and tags the next day when I brought it in to verify the VIN for 132 dollars. I'm in CA.
it’ll be fine
Ike and John, as a classic Volkswagen owner I know that aftermarket parts never ever ever fit. But original parts are way too expensive but John made it work and you gotta do that or pay a million bucks. So Ike, don’t be picking on John for using eBay parts man. P.S. been a subscriber since early 2015.
Caterpillar season, I like that. I got a couple caterpillars.
Find a Trail 90, not the Mini Bike, very hard to find, super strong, STREET LEGAL, I had 5 of them, would love to see you build one!
It's easy to get one in Michigan as well, and you can damn near get anything legal to drive on the road here with the basics
Who thinks Ike got a CT-70. Like if you agree. I have a good felling he did.
Lol Ike said he wants one so bad as if he doesn’t already have one 😉
Johnny Hillman i didnt have one. At the time. Lol
I live in Syracuse NY all my bikes and cars are registered titled and inspected and insured
