    And we're in October - here's another of my liquid asset portfolio updates. It's been exactly 5 years since I started investing with Vanguard. I take a look at my goals and talk about how goals need to serve me, not the other way round.
    This is my DIY investing portfolio - my SIPP and Stock and Shares ISAs and general accounts with Vanguard, Invest Engine, Trading 212 and Freetrade.
    I hold my S&S ISA with Invest Engine as that platform offers zero fee Exchange Traded Funds DIY investing and a much bigger choice of passive index and Exchange Traded Funds.
    My approach to investing is similar to my approach to life: be boring, ignore the noise, stay calm. In other words: keep it as passive as possible, buy and hold, invest consistently no matter what the market is doing.
    Although I've achieved Financial Freedom, my vision of Early Retirement does NOT involve yachts and non-stop travel. Instead, I enjoy coaching clients on personal finance. You can find my current coaching offers here: www.allthehone...
    These updates will encourage you to invest, not panic and see what's possible when we talk about money making money, passive income and lazy, hands-off investing. Start where you are, you're only competing with your yesterday's self. Best of luck on your journey and enjoy!

    Love the section where you were reflecting on the last 5 years, and where you are now in it all. I agree - I'm grateful to my past self for the choices and sacrifice, and I also am really shifting toward now enjoying the process and now more. Something I don't think I'd be able to have now without my first doing the intensity goals and efforts that I did to build some financial security. :)

    Hiya Marta - Thanks for being so candid with the way you're investing with showing the investing dashboards etc. I'm an investor starting out and it's nice to understand a matured portfolio. Currently using VUAG,VHYL,EQQQ as well as some individual investments I'm hoping will develop nicely. (The rubbish bit was funny btw lol)

    Great video, thanks. i also had some investments in the RED. And i thought i would wait till they were green to sell. with hindsight, i should (and eventually did), simply sell, move the money to a more reliable growth fund, and forget about the losses. I suspect i made more money by moving them sooner, than leaving them to grow.

      Yes, you dealt with sunk cost fallacy really well:) I'm OK with the small portfolios but that emerging market fund really needs to go.

      The beauty of everything, also in investing, is that there is more than one way of doing things. I like less hassle and more compounding. But of course you do what works for you best.

    • @Marta-Lis
      @Marta-Lis  3 дня назад

      No sensible reason, just a choice at the time. Accumulation is great and saves you time so, as you can see from my latest accumulating S&P 500 fund purchase for example, I'm also headed in that direction. Good luck with your investing journey!

    Tip: When I have a holding that is in the red and I want to sell, I don't always wait for it to turn green, instead I just wait for the loss to be as little as I'm willing to accept and sell it. So in your example, I'd wait for it to get to -100 and sell, take the small hit to free up that cash and reinvest it. If I have to I'd rather make up for that -100 loss out of my salary, just so I can put that money to better use sooner.

    • @Marta-Lis

      @@OneAndOnlyMe I think that's only applicable if one wants to be super safe. There are sectors which would not profit anytime soon and burn money until the demand is peaked, e.g. energy sector, quantum computing etc. The same happened with semiconductors and others.

    You’re all over the place doing this by yourself. Holding on to losers hoping for some sunny days in your EM funds. You shouldn’t need income for another few decades so why bother with these . It’s difficult doing this on your own as individuals tend to make a lot of emotional buys and trade a lot.
