I am actually a descendant of the Spartans...I am very proud to be Greek, and their spirit lives on. It also should be noted that it is Greeks in general that kick ass, not just Spartans. Hell, the Greeks held the Nazi war machine at bay for longer than the French did, when their army was out manned, out gunned, and ill-equipped. Greeks definitely have their issues, but they have one of if not the coolest cultures.
Anybody ever thought about the comparisons of Europe to Greece and The US to Rome? Greek had the culture and learning, and early military might, but later the Romans usurped the Military role, and Used Engineering and Manufacturing to be the leading power in the world; all the while incorporating the language, learning and culture of Greece as a central part of their society. In many ways that has happened today to the US, it has built on Europe's foundations of language and culture, while using military, and economic power to the the Leading power in the world.
Uhh, sorry to burst your bubble there, Max, but the US is still the only True world power. Study Maritime operations, international maritime law works because the US Navy enforces it. There is no other nation in the world with anything close to comparing with the US Navy.. Europe and most of the rest of the world depend on the US to pay for a huge percentage of their international security. www.globalfirepower.com/country-military-strength-detail.asp?country_id=United-States-of-America
Ash Winder LOL, another that had bought in to that version of the world and events. i am up for a reasonable discussion on any and all point. however the instant resort to name calling and disrespect, instead of logical discourse, pretty much ends any hope you have of actually "convincing" me, of your point of view. when you do that, whatever your political leanings, you lose any respect I would have had for you as an intelligent human being. therefore, since I dont respect you, I am unable ti hear anything you say. You are just NOISE!
What is indestructible is not their physical bodies. What is indestructible is their Spartan resolve. Men who face death fearlessly in defense of their home, their families, and the freedom of all civilization, is truly indestructible.
This movie saws exacly the power of the greeks.Still with the economics problem the country has, greeks will never give up... They great history proves it. Greetings from Russia! :)
From greece the best warriors of the world !!! like !!! we are the hammer of the god and the reason you fear the dark !!! live for nothing or die for something....die for glory !!!! good work man !!!
SPARTANS THE MASTERS OF WARRRRRRRR yeah in the history books the epic tale is still unbelievable cause take a look 300 held off like 75 000 or more persian soldiers in 3 days just to give them time to finish their religious festival

This song makes me feel like me and 299 Disturbed fans are fighting through the waves of millions on Bieber fans and other craps from all over the world :D
man i think that the spartans were missunderstood they were one of the most brutal societies that the world has ever seen and documented the movie portrayes this in a unique stature in short the spartans kicked ass hu ra
+NORWEGIAN VIKING what do you think sir the men back then in that time the are military at 7 years old and the only way they had a tomb stone is if they died in a war and trust me sir they lived for it they fought with everyone just for a good fight 1/2 of the time but the Spartans they where the best the greeks had as soldiers the romans on the other hand where cruel and jerks they where strong but ppl like Spartacus, Atila, Boudica they hated Rome and even went as far as inflicting not only fear in every Roman heart but damage in a way they won one to many battles vs Rome but yes in the end they ended up getting killed except for Boudica no one knows what happened to her and her daughters
Those Rhino and Elephant scenes at 3:24-3:37 historically never happened, fyi. It was just the archers, then the light infantry, then the Immortals, and then the final stand. Don't mean to bag on an amazingly awsome movie...just pointing that stuff out.
@hottubcliffordjames 5000 other Greeks, but Leonidas ordered them to retreat after the Persians found the path, and they held off the retreat. Fought until there weapons broke. Must've taken some damn courage to do that.
Well 300 is loosly based on a true story. Very loosly XD. But it's still an entertaining movie to watch and Disturbed is awesome so combine the two and u get win lol.
the song is called Indestructible, yet u showed the downfall of the spartans, i dont match the song lol take the end out, but great video, loved it:) sept for the end when lionidas got showered by arrows and the spartans died
@shadowwarrior775 yea but the historic war was weird.... instead of fighting against waves in one setting and completely owning them all the attack broke off then would attach again they had to make it seem completely badass and also they were not really following the historic setting but really the graphic novel
the song is awesome and all but the missiles flying and the gun shots dont fit, but it would be epic if you match this up with clips from band of brothers or something:)
everything of this movie is true except that efialtes which means nightmare in english which in ancient greek(after the battle)meant traitor so thats how the word nightmare got the meaning it has today......anyway!he was a normal person, everything else was true,i know it because i am from greece and of course i am good at history...sorry for my spelling
@aRU88ERduck actually their armor was bronze and they did have capes and if you read the bible around this time there were giants.and him being from greece would give him far more knowledge of the subject beings he would have access to a museum or archives on the subject. but you were right about one thing they did wear full suits but it was full armor like a knight would have it was more or less to give needed coverage to the torso head arms and legs
While the movie was fun, im tired of people loving the spartans and giving little credite to the rest of the hellenic states warriors. Spartans ruled hopelite, while Macedonic pikes lay walls of death, while Athenic marines would drown all who oppose, while Epiric cavalry would waste infantry. Even the other states had barbaric and brutal stories like the spartans. Athens were cruel to those who disagreed with their ideologies andd would waste entire families should they question the leadership. Even when the messegers came from persia, in this movie, one went to athens, they stakes the man alive to a tree and tied the heads of the dead kings to his brow to show how little they care about asia
What? first half of the comment made no sense, but the second is fucking insulting and far from correct. While the greeks were still learning how to move pillars and create cities, Egyptians had already made some the remain pyramids. The african tribes had already astablished trade routes and started assimulating societies, cultures and faiths, the celts had already built strong holders and warrior societies and the indians had already from empires. Greeks are cool, but they were far from the "best" (if there could be a best ancient society). Also dontbe a fucking bigot racist.
there was greeks, dont know what your on about. Greeks were epirus, athenians and spartans among other much smaller hellenic tribes that were located in greece/thracia. They called themselves greek not often though because they saw little merit to that name and saw themselves as the settlements they were, eg, macodians. So you are correcct in saying there werent any greeks as in a unified people in a nation, like italians and romans. But there were greeks and they did acknowledge themselves as greek (greek states were often reportatly prejudice against other helenic states outside their nation borders)
They don't look like this. This film is badass but far from reality. Those abs and muscles are considered rare during those times. I mean yes the historical Spartans are tough but they don't look like this. Also special forces don't train like these because it's not practical at all.
If Achilles son of Thetis was menth to be Inmortal, overpowered by an arrow thrown by Paris (sais the myth) why is a mistake to take the comander of the 300 Spartans the greath king leonidas decendant of Heracles as "Inmortal", to me is a title well claimed! (good video!) All of those who gain a place on the colective memories that remained till today, have acheaved the great immortality !.
take out the end, the songs called Indistructible, so you shouldnt show Leonidas being showered by arrows and the 300 spartans dying, loved the video tho:) great choice of song, some things you need 2 fix tho
@aRU88ERduck and in this battle were also at about 700 Thespians and 24 warriors from Mykines...Btw, just because you've seen the movie doesn't mean that you know enough about this battle to play the smart-guy. Go read some books and then come back to "teach" us (the Greeks) about our history...smartguy...
@MsAlternativexxx hard to compare. The spartans were definitely much more dedicated, they spent 12+ years in intensive training alone. from age 7 to 18 where they could join the army, if they didn't die first. The intensity of their training is much more rigorous than todays methods. Not saying today's are not hard or effective, just they aren't as lethal.
I am actually a descendant of the Spartans...I am very proud to be Greek, and their spirit lives on. It also should be noted that it is Greeks in general that kick ass, not just Spartans. this movie is so good!!! i saw it 3-4 times and i wanna see it again!!! AWESOME!! just AWESOME!
the lyrics fit perfectly with the spartan army

+Brad Warren yes the USA are not the leading power in the world.

Indestrutível
Outra missão
Os poderes me chamaram para longe
Outra vez
E saiba, meu amigo desafortunado
Você vai descobrir
Uma guerra que você não pode vencer
Eu vou te fazer saber
Que eu me tornei
Indestrutível
Determinação que é incorruptível
Do outro lado
Do outro lado
Eu sou
Indestrutível
Determinação que é incorruptível
Do outro lado
Do outro lado

5000 other Greeks, but Leonidas ordered them to retreat after the Persians found the path, and they held off the retreat. Fought until there weapons broke. Must've taken some damn courage to do that.
this song suit them so well
It sure did
I love the romantic views everyone has on Spartan culture. Fighting for freedom? They were some of the biggest users of slaves
Spartan legacy truthly Indestructible
i know but leonidas knew that the ending was not good so the excess numbers of warriors went home to regroup and lead an offensive army
i bet if the spartans had a few .50 cal MG's and an abrams tank they coulda won...lol
spartans are badass with spear and shield, but what would happen if they had assult rifles?
Well 300 is loosly based on a true story. Very loosly XD. But it's still an entertaining movie to watch and Disturbed is awesome so combine the two and u get win lol.

@sonofmysorrow actually it was 300 spartans the other 1100 soldiers were people from neighboring city-states
