Notice that Fern's bracelet the Lotus is in full bloom, showing that love has or will blossom fully into it's full form. Frieren's ring, however, is still a simple bud and hasn't bloomed yet, showing that Himmel's love will never fully come to fruition, even if it still exists and is still eternal.
But he's dead. That's the tragedy. He loved her most of his life, showed it to her in so many ways without actually telling her, then loved her even for the 50 years she was gone. Then he died. It's only now, 80 years after these events, that Frieren is finally understanding how much Himmel loved her.
You forgot one important detail, it is not only Frieren realizing that Himmel was the one that loved her, she also begins to realize that she also had feelings for him the entire time, but did not catch on until it was too late.
Little detail, when Himmel puts the ring on Frieren's finger, there's a clock in the middle of the background, meaning that "time" is the only thing between them 🥲
Himmel, the guy that loved so much the elf, that knowing she will outlive him, he decided to say nothing in order to not tie her to (at her eyes) his short life...
Все верно, даже девчонки не поняли "Фрирен, проебала свою любовь", человек который любил ее всем сердцем умер и лишь после его смерти она поняла это. Такова судьба 90% пацанов :(
Himmel didn't tell Frieren because he knew the consequences to Frieren as their lifespan are vastly different. He didnt want Frieren to suffer. This will be shown or subtly explained in later episodes.
I think this is a wrong theory. didn't tell her what? he literally hinted her for 10 years, but she ignored and did not notice it. This is a story about regrets, isn't it? you think she goes to heaven to meet him to say "thank you, is it good that we didn’t get married and spend your life together"? this is nonsense
@@aleksei1002 I kinda don't agree. He was that obvious because it was frieren who he knew would't get it at that time. if he wanted her to know he'd actually confess to her in as way she understands. he is smart and really considerate of others. he'd just keep it within his heart and let her live the way she always did. I wonder if when she actually makes it into aureole and meets him he wouldn't mind being open about it. I think as she is on her current journey she gets it somehow. idk about u guys but I think they will meet again and that explains why we never seen them saying goodbye to each other because I quote "goodbyes are embarassing if we meet again later" - himmel.
A beautiful detail of the ring scene with Himmel and Frieren is the clock tower between them, because time is what opposes their relationship. I'm still not sure if Frieren didn't understand Himmel's gesture, or if she always knew what it meant and didn't dare to reciprocate.
"Heiter was appalled" is one of my favorite lines from the entire show. And then on the opposite end of the spectrum, we have Himmel presenting the ring.
me too it's so funny. and i love how every single time, frieren assumes all warriors do this and fern needs to reframe it and say "maaaybe eisen was not normal" ^-^
@@bench2346 We should do a thing - let's turn it into an action-style meme! Whenever we see a warrior-style character powering their way through incredible abuse, we should comment, "Heiter was appalled." Then see how it spreads!
"There are lots of venomous creatures around these parts" - 2 seconds later Stark gets bitten 😂 It may sound like an overreaction, what the priest told them - how it was too late for Stark but that just goes to show how talented Sein is, being able to cure him so easily. 6:45 Magy woke up and chose violence 😂 The parallel between Frieren and Sein, how Himmel convinced her and now in turn she's convincing Sein - it's all presented so beautifully. Episode 14 was just perfect, from start to finish. Words really don't do it justice. Thank you for the emotional reaction ❤
But it isn't freiren's fault too because even after ten years, she didn't feel the same towards himmel and he knew that, he was in fact in peace with it and he died happily after seeing the girl he loved and yes it's tragic but it's beautiful, cute and fills the hole in my heart that I never knew existed.
you can see Frieren playing with the ring from time to time, even on first episode after Himmel funeral shes checking the ring ... shes too slow to understand love, maybe because elf dont rush into emotional state or romantic feelings... but she knows and feel ruclips.net/video/bZ4SfHXc19k/видео.htmlfeature=shared&t=660
Elf and that is the problem. it is not coldness it is a species wide neurological difference. She did love him but IT HAD TO take time for her brain to process it.
Himmel may not have told her, but he showed it in so many ways trusting she'd know in her own time. It seems like he devoted himself so much to her, he didn't get married after their adventure or have another woman in his life.
YEs, I feel that Stark and Fern are this groups stand in for Frieren and Himmel. I don't think Himmel was proposing to her but giving a give in a chivalrous way as we'll see in next episode when a man gets down on a knee in front of a girl.
The anime If It's for My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat a Demon Lord has a similar feel to this if you want another cute and sometimes emotional show after this ends .
Don't like them dumping all the blame on Stark when Fern having a typical "Woman ☕" moment too with instead of just saying up front what's on their minds or what they're feeling, they just sulk and and wait for us to notice it like we aren't mind readers just say it my god.

When she said she didn't really know him in episode 1, I don't think she realized how much she knew about him until she thought about it now.
@@artboymoy That's so beautifully put and probably accurate ;__;

Probably the most heartbreaking detail in this episode ;__; But the proposal scene is so beautiful nonetheless

Yes, Frieren looked at the ring in episode 1, after Himmel’s funeral.

Damn ! Good catch !
She didn't know. That's the whole point of this show. But good catch with the tower.
The moment Himmel gave Frieren a ring to her hand. The clock tower is between them. Symbolizes that separates both of them is TIME.

poor himmel. bro slowly getting older and missed her when she was just hanging around, collecting stupid spells and getting caught by mimics
And a stupid kid with a hat saw something he never could

thats exactly what he intended to do tho. obviously he knew it wouldn't work (and she'd known too).

Notice the bell ringing? Just like in episode 1. frieren must’ve realized something at that time, and then she cried.
Stark just wanted to buy Fern a present with her. Like she did for him.
