You're the Captain of a very special Hyperion that is capable of traversing the Sea of Quanta, thus capable of both observing and reaching out into the various parallel world. Our role as Captain is to recruit and command those various valkyries and girls from different worlds and timelines all to fight the Honkai. It's the reason why you can quite literally have multiple versions of what's technically the same character simultaneously on the Hyperion such as Kongming and Theresa or HoV Kiana with regular Kiana. It's also due to this unique nature that technically all the side and special events that occur are also canon in a way in the Captain timeline.

However after spending so much time with literal incarnation of evil for so long, he can no longer think from the perspective of a normal person anymore. That's why he still continues all his evil pursuits even though he no longer has it. I think Otto actually understands all of this, unlike usual villains who attempt to justify their actions, he just doesn't care, best way to sum up his character.

To expand on this, the 2nd Eruption manga is a must-read. It provides critical context for the Herrscher of the Void's backstory and character, and I suspect that the latest Chapters of the game were made with it in mind. Edit: It's also what the first half of the second cinematic depicted.
Keep in mind when judging motivations in Honkai that in that world, humanity is within 10 years of extinction at the time the game takes place. "If we don't solve this problem 100% for sure everyone is going to die within 10 years" is a heck of a reframing of moral limits. That's something I find so fascinating about the setting. We can easily look at extreme actions in Honkai and judge a character as evil or cruel, but it becomes a lot more gray when you judge from inside that setting rather than outside it.

It's interesting watching you checking out these Chronicles videos because with that exploding TARDIS behind you, it felt like the overloading flux energy leaking from the Eye of Harmony brought you back to the past to witness history.
Honkai in a nutshell is hilarious, but even more entertaining when you've actually played enough to know the narator and how we basically have the main series antagonist narating it (and yes, **** Otto). Honkai retrospective meanwhile is ALSO narated by an antagonist (Kevin), but in a more serious manner (sort of) Spoilers below re: Flamescion stuff Flamescion being a mix of Flame/Void isn't quite accurate, but having multiple cores has been a long time thing in series. Sirin (2nd eruption) ended up with multiple cores (including stealing core of the 1st herscher, and getting gifted others left over from the previous era). Himiko was using gem of haste (gem's have a precedence of BECOMING herscher cores, like with Wendy) and it becomes Kiana's core later on.
Great story always have a great villain, I remember that i have only one name that is comparable to Otto, that is Lezard Valeth from Valkyrie Profile (especially in Silmeria episodes). I am grateful with Otto in this Honkai Universe, as you said, Honkai will be very short without Otto.
Kiana explains what is going on in either episode 24 or 25 (spoiler) As we know, there are two "personalities" inside the clone K-423: Kiana and Sirin. Kiana says that both her and Sirin are two sides of the same coin, both originating from the original Sirin (from which the clone was created). As we know, Sirin suffered many torturous experiments at the hands of Schicksal. Part of Sirin grew to hate humanity and wanted to make them pay for the suffering they caused her and her friends, while another part of Sirin remembered the warmth and love she felt from those close to her and wanted to save them. This would cause a split - Sirin being the former, "Kiana" being the latter

As for some quick advice to sort this story, but as almost everyone has already said. Read the manga, as a lot of stuff is explained in the manga. 1. Who is that person? / Is that Sirin/Kiana? (At all scenes when they depict the end of the old era) - No, its only known as the Herrscher of the End and technically that due to parallel with Gun Girl Z. 2. If you go looking for Honkai lore, watch out for Gun Girl Z lore. They use same character names, character design, and similar plot lines. (And also made by Mohoyo) A few places claim its a 'prequel' to Honkai. The story is confusing enough as is without getting it confused another game. It is a theory that they may be connected/related but nothing is confirmed and you don't want to go down that rabbit hole... at least not yet. 3. Events and Storyline chapters in game are an alternative universe of each other. (Example: Himiko is alive in AU, Kiana is still overconfident in AU, etc) 'The Captain' only exists in the AU while does not exist in the main storyline what-so-ever. 'The Captain' seems to have the ability to insert his mind/full body into other random AUs and has been recruiting other characters onto the Hyperion, that happens to be traveling the Sea of Quanta (this games multiverse). 4. Most battlesuits are the same character with a different load out/equipment, often in different points in time. Example, Kiana's 'Valkyrie Ranger' battlesuit is based on pre-Chapter 9 and is her normal cheerful self, however once you unlock its core (in game skin 'Void Drifter' or any other skin labeled 'Core Augmented Raiment'), all her lines change to reflect her post-chapter 9 self. Mei's 'Shadow Dance' battlesuit, after you unlock its skin, and ditto for Rozaliya as well. (In Rozaliya case it reflects her AU version... that likely lost her twin). A few battlesuits are literal different people with even different name. Example: Theresa's SP Battlesuit is called Zhuge Kongming and was literally taking care of another AU Theresa during her event when she was released in game. 5. Most 'Chronicles' segments (in-game 'Chronicles' section) are also canon with exception to 'Kallen Fantasy VII' and 'Dreams of Gemina'. I mean technically Sirin is there. But if you meant the blue haired girl in the corner than that's Bella or her Dragon in human form. She's introduced in the 2nd Eruption manga I think...
I've heard about the Herrscher at the end? She was the one who ended the old world and yes she looks a lot like the kiana and I believed that she is the old world kiana just like in HOUKAI GAKUEN

So what I mean, she has the looks of Kiana and the personality of Kiana, but she got Sirins memories and her consciousness added to. So its 2 person in one body, and they fight for control.
Kiana is not a herrscher, Sirin takes over her body then Kiana fights against Sirin and wins against her and she uses Sirin's powers.(sorry for bad english)
If you want to know more plot and information on everything that happened, i recommend you actually read the manga or comic that actually more or less detailly explains everything instead of pieaces of information form the game or videos the manga / comic actually basically explained everything in a sequence that makes sense

To be honest, without Otto, the world would be a mess. Otto successfully defeated the plague, saved a girl and named her Schariac so without him then there will be no Kiana, Theresa or even the Schariac house, the technologies will also not be as advanced as they were in the game. I can't call myself a fan of Otto or anything, but without him, the world of honkai won't be the same.
otto is ultimately a good guy , though his methods are shady his ultimate goal is to preserve mankind and ending honkai. it's very much like kevin and fuhua , but unlike kevin otto is playing the long game and is patience , he knows humanity can't win yet and preparing for the right time to strike and i think he's the only one who is trying to understand honkai and what can it do. kevin just want to destroy them and fuhua only wants humanity to survive them. i feel like when it's nearing the end probably before Hi4 gets released in 2 or 3 years from now we will see a glimpse of otto's real plan. and i have a feeling that the oath of judah will come to play , fuhua mentioned that otto was always carrying a coffin. we haven't seen this coffin but we do know that otto is the owner of oath of judah before theresa so probably the oath of judah isn't just a weapon but it's some sort of storage a coffin. what or who is in there could be anyone kallen? someone from the previous era? or a unknown herscherr from the previous era. kiana or should i say k423 is technically a combination of the real kiana who is MIA (or is bianca if you believe the theories) and sirin. she's a clone of kiana that got injected with sirin's core.
actually kiana isn't an herrscher she only became herrscher because of otto implanting sirin's gene into kiana which awakened in her and she became a herrscher also after in final lesson which himeko injected the serum to kiana herrscher mode the purpose of the serum is to kill sirin inside kiana in order for kiana to control the sirin's herrscher power without getting manipulated by sirin anymore and for kiana to be back to normal
I can't find any good points about Otto, sure he cured the plague, but, not to help people, he just did it to impress Kallen (pretty sure he killed more people than the plague did anyway). No idea why anyone follows him.
Here’s an easy example for you. America created a nuke to help stop and prevent wars. This disastrous weapon killed many many people, but it brought peace. Otto was very prestigious and idolized by the people of the time. His intellectualism and efforts saved many people, but his intentions are as clear as day. We hate him because we have this outside knowledge, but it’s obvious how he held so much power and fame.

So what I mean, she has the looks of Kiana and the personality of Kiana, but she got Sirins memories and her consciousness added to.

To be honest, without Otto, the world would be a mess.
Otto successfully defeated the plague, saved a girl and named her Schariac so without him then there will be no Kiana, Theresa or even the Schariac house, the technologies will also not be as advanced as they were in the game.
I can't call myself a fan of Otto or anything, but without him, the world of honkai won't be the same.

otto is ultimately a good guy , though his methods are shady his ultimate goal is to preserve mankind and ending honkai.
it's very much like kevin and fuhua , but unlike kevin otto is playing the long game and is patience , he knows humanity can't win yet and preparing for the right time to strike and i think he's the only one who is trying to understand honkai and what can it do. kevin just want to destroy them and fuhua only wants humanity to survive them.
i feel like when it's nearing the end probably before Hi4 gets released in 2 or 3 years from now we will see a glimpse of otto's real plan. and i have a feeling that the oath of judah will come to play , fuhua mentioned that otto was always carrying a coffin. we haven't seen this coffin but we do know that otto is the owner of oath of judah before theresa so probably the oath of judah isn't just a weapon but it's some sort of storage a coffin. what or who is in there could be anyone kallen? someone from the previous era? or a unknown herscherr from the previous era.
kiana or should i say k423 is technically a combination of the real kiana who is MIA (or is bianca if you believe the theories) and sirin. she's a clone of kiana that got injected with sirin's core.
actually kiana isn't an herrscher she only became herrscher because of otto implanting sirin's gene into kiana which awakened in her and she became a herrscher also after in final lesson which himeko injected the serum to kiana herrscher mode the purpose of the serum is to kill sirin inside kiana in order for kiana to control the sirin's herrscher power without getting manipulated by sirin anymore and for kiana to be back to normal
I can't find any good points about Otto, sure he cured the plague, but, not to help people, he just did it to impress Kallen (pretty sure he killed more people than the plague did anyway). No idea why anyone follows him.
Here’s an easy example for you. America created a nuke to help stop and prevent wars. This disastrous weapon killed many many people, but it brought peace.
Otto was very prestigious and idolized by the people of the time. His intellectualism and efforts saved many people, but his intentions are as clear as day. We hate him because we have this outside knowledge, but it’s obvious how he held so much power and fame.
