Hey, glad you enjoyed our work. Yes, it takes immense amounts of effort when you lack as many resources as the bigger companies have. That said, we want to give you guys a better-quality video experience, no matter how much of an effort it is. It's great that you appreciate it. It means a lot to us. Thank you.
Glad you enjoy our work. You know, regarding your apps rant, we wish Microsoft got tired of it too. It's been two years of complaints and they still don't do enough to fix it. As I said in the video, it's not about the number, but about the essentials in today's smartphone demands.
I bought the HTC 8X, and then returned it after a week and got the Note II. No notification center, lack of apps, and you can't even turn on the flashlight and send a text message is what made me return the phone. I absolutely love my Note II.
Try using those Notification toasts on third party apps like Whatsapp. You'll get the toast but when you load the app it never refreshes to the message. Really frustrating. The OS needs a better way to handle notifications. If you're forced to have a live tile to get notified, the concept is broken. What's the point of tailoring the phone to me if I "have" to have live tiles to get notified? What if I want a more simplistic display?
The entire pocket now team are just amazing..guys I have a question for you..how do you guys think on doing such unique shows such as,after the buzz,bloopers.....just amazing.
Love after the buzz. Probably my favorite channel that I subscribe to. HOWEVER. Enough with the not enough apps for WP8. It like the broken record that you keep playing again and again. Hell in spite of the fewer apps i really like my lumia 822, and yes i've used an android device b4. You guys are talented enough to come out with some other points on contention with the OS. It's just some of us DON'T CARE THAT WP8 DOESN'T HAVE AS MAY APPS AS IOS AND ANDROID.
Great video. Perfect analysis. My mother and father in law own this phone. They couldn't be happier. Both coming from iPhones. They said they can finally see the light. Not heavy app users. Just basic functions. Thanks.
Like the phone, I have it, not as my primary day driver, and I have the HTC One X+! What you said comparing it to other WP8 flagships is SAD BUT TRUE! Thank you Jaime!
After having this phone for 8 months I can still say I'm pleased because it's one of the few, very few phones that aren't giant and still have good specs. Being on Verizon, we lacked a good Lumia option, but even the current 928 is giant compared to this. You lose on the ecosystem when there's the occasional Nokia app I wish I had, but overall the size of this phone + looks just beat all else.
I completely agree with you! Windows Phone is the most elegant OS I've ever used and I'm willing to give it time to grow. People forget it only came out 2 years ago. Considering how new it is, the app selection isn't half bad
Best phone IMO. I don't miss anything on my 8X. I'm happy with my current apps. What thing that I'd like is a quick setting menu (brightness/wi fi etc).
In my opinion the HTC 8x is one of the best phones I have ever owned. The average battery life could be better, but could also be worse (htc one x). Also, the os is buttery smooth and very refreshing. The lack of apps does not bother me as the store will grow in time, and i am confident microsoft will update the system regularly to fix certain issues it may have. The design is stunning and comfortable in the hand and the screen is better then the retina. The sleekest phone out there!.
he is talking at the 3:09 mark, maybe you did intend to press the windows button, but you did actually press the back button, closing the app itself. All you have to do is press the windows button, to go back to the homescreen, and press & hold back button to see your apps that are open already.
In Croatia this phone along with the 8s is priced superbly, also a lot of apps that are missing don't work here at all so it's not a huge loss fo the wp platform. Currently I'm having lumia 900 and loving it.
That's a problem with the app. They could also show a notification on the lock screen. I personally see the Start screen as a personal and customized notification center and therefore don't understand all the criticism either.
Spotify is in the marketplace for 7.5, and should be out soon for 8. Although, I really don't use it, cause Nokia Music and actual XBox music is great already. Instagram is on it's way as well, for all the younger crowd.
If you push the back button on the app you close, for that you lose the resume... people not understand that, if you open the app and push the home button the app is "open"and when you come back the resume is there... IN ANY APP!
I always find American reviews comparing the 8X to the 920 quite strange because here in the UK it's like the opposite story - the 920 is MUCH more expensive
one thing i dont get why do u guy not like windows 8 phones, frankly i think it is better than android and ios as it has better battery life hangs less and has a completely new feel to it.plus u can synchronize it completely with your pc.The only problem is app store as you mentioned but i visited the app store few days back and was really amazed to see how far it had come,i am sure that by the end of the year windows store will have all the famous app.what are ur thoughts
Almost every technews company is doing that now. The Verge set the bar. But you cant blame pocket now because they are not as heavily backed by funding as The Verge is. The Verge has enough money, to hire a directors and a script writer, for the videos. Its technically a VC backed company. I like the Verge, but I also like Pocketnow, and I will always support the small companies no matter what.
Like Jaime said...I'm a social junkie, instagram is one of those things I really like...a phone without instagram and spotify can change my choice. Yeah I have android and a iPod touch, a windows device can be welcome
Just an awesome phone. I love the design and screen and i really like wp8 however sometimes it isn't at it's best. Especially with the marketplace developers, like whatsapp. Whatsapp on windows phone could be a great app but it is actually far behind the iOS and Android app.
lacks customizability, if I can flash Roms and install launchers and other goodies then maybe I will get it. I heard Ms will not be bashing their jailbreak community like apple is, so that sounds promising :)
After the buzz or before the buzz I don't give a damn about the 8x. I'm glad I didn't but the 8x...I sold my brand new iPhone 5 for a Lumia 920 and I'm happy man. HTC should improve on certain things but the design is nice.
I'll give windows phone os another 2-3yrs before I try it coz now it's not that well polished and the lack of apps is also a major issue. For now I'm good with android on my galaxy note 2.
really i don't get the point ?? what u just said about whatsapp i did not really try it but when i do i'll tell u my opinion ok but really what simplicity u want more in the display ?? just small or large boxes that refresh every now and then if u have any notification and it shows u what is new without even launching the app i think it is more efficient than every now and then i have to open that center :) look maybe that variety of OS is good so u can choose what u like and suits u better
Windows Phone needs to mature and grow just like how Android and iOS have done and that's the sad part. I feel the world is not big enough for 4 OS for mobile phones (Android, iOS, WP, and the upcoming BB10). Thus, I personally feel that Microsoft needs to come up with something revolutionary to compete and so do the OEM's. At this point, Nokia has the benefit because they solely concentrate their resources on WP unlike HTC. And with that, I gotta agree with Jaime Rivera. The 920 is a better...
DOES your android will back where u left it if you close it from the first page by back btn??? NO IT will reload back !!! BACK BTN on first page of the app is functioning as CLOSE and not BACK !!! so u want real multitasking while going to other apps then press HOME btn !!! and back to your app via the tile or holding back btn for a second or 2 ...
the me tile is the notification center of ur phone did u know that ?? any thing that comes related to u a notification pops up to this me tile :D and all other live tiles r the notification center of the app what do u want ??
All great points. Glad that you enjoyed the video.

Thanks! Glad you enjoy it. It's a lot of weekly brainstorming. After The Buzz was Michael's idea. The bloopers was Jaime's and so forth.
Good review! I really like it when someone goes back and gives a deeper, nuanced presentation after the initial hoopla has worn down. Jaime, you rock!
Glad you enjoy our work.
You know, regarding your apps rant, we wish Microsoft got tired of it too. It's been two years of complaints and they still don't do enough to fix it. As I said in the video, it's not about the number, but about the essentials in today's smartphone demands.
Glad you enjoyed. Darn you're so lucky, I'm still on the old HTC One X. Love it to death though.
@Esteban Moguel thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Honest and professional review. You guys rock. Thanks much!

Yes! New after the buzz episode! I'm gonna enjoy this one!
you guys are just awesome, 'nuff said!
@Spopisation Hey Thanks for that!
Great Vid. I was tempted but went with Lumia920 with no regret.
This format is a great idea and sorely missing on most Blogs.
Like the phone,
I have it, not as my primary day driver, and I have the HTC One X+!

Love your video very informative and honest

Great Review, straight to the point as always. Great OS, it will improve in the future, just as did Android!.
but really appretiate your teams hard work. And special enjoy listening to u jaime
I completely agree with you! Windows Phone is the most elegant OS I've ever used and I'm willing to give it time to grow. People forget it only came out 2 years ago. Considering how new it is, the app selection isn't half bad
I luv after the buzz....i would pay to watch these videos.
Best phone IMO. I don't miss anything on my 8X. I'm happy with my current apps.
What thing that I'd like is a quick setting menu (brightness/wi fi etc).
I'll be waiting for the lg optimus g phone on sprint video. Keep up the great work...
great video
Pocketnow is that Panorama Building in San Pedro Sula? at 3:43 ?
I used the Windows button..
Yeah, I was a apple fan, until I recently switched to HTC Butterfly, It's really awesome.
In my opinion the HTC 8x is one of the best phones I have ever owned. The average battery life could be better, but could also be worse (htc one x). @AndrewTGreen hey thanks for that!
Another great review. You also get my vote for the cutest of the Pocketnow boys :-)
Wait what? What buzz? I did not know that there was a buzz for this phone...:))
Jaime Rivera definitely is my favorite tech presenter across youtube
3:05 press and hold the back key for multitasking. You don't have to go back to the homescreen.
I like the after the buzz idea
he is talking at the 3:09 mark, maybe you did intend to press the windows button, but you did actually press the back button, closing the app itself. All you have to do is press the windows button, to go back to the homescreen, and press & hold back button to see your apps that are open already.
Loved the way he said " after the buzz"
In Croatia this phone along with the 8s is priced superbly, also a lot of apps that are missing don't work here at all so it's not a huge loss fo the wp platform. Currently I'm having lumia 900 and loving it.
I completely agree. This has surpassed technobuffalo and phonedog when it comes to shows
It's not like you can't skip the intro, now is it?
I like how the htc feels in hand but yeah with free navigation maps and more storage it fails to beat nokia features.
i love this show!!!
That's a problem with the app. They could also show a notification on the lock screen.
I personally see the Start screen as a personal and customized notification center and therefore don't understand all the criticism either.
@steven baks Exactly. People really need to stop excusing Microsoft. They need to figure it out.
Try downloading 'Quick Settings' its an app that lets u pin wifi/cellular settings to u homescreen.
Oh okay. Just assumed spotify would be available on the newer version.
Would you recommend it if it was like the HD2?
Spotify is in the marketplace for 7.5, and should be out soon for 8. Although, I really don't use it, cause Nokia Music and actual XBox music is great already. Instagram is on it's way as well, for all the younger crowd.
It's awesome how you say your name..
MOAR after the buzz!!!!!
I want the 8x but sprint doesnt have it. YET
July will be next
How much is if unlocked?
If you push the back button on the app you close, for that you lose the resume... people not understand that, if you open the app and push the home button the app is "open"and when you come back the resume is there... IN ANY APP!
I want to see a nexus 10 after the buzz!!!
I always find American reviews comparing the 8X to the 920 quite strange because here in the UK it's like the opposite story - the 920 is MUCH more expensive
MORE!!
whats the phonz behind the 8x at 1.35???
Am I the only one, who have a feeling that they tryed to shoot this video in the theverge manner?
I like it but in June upgraded. So I fine with Android HTC One S by T-Mobile USA.
one thing i dont get why do u guy not like windows 8 phones, frankly i think it is better than android and ios as it has better battery life hangs less and has a completely new feel to it.plus u can synchronize it completely with your pc.The only problem is app store as you mentioned but i visited the app store few days back and was really amazed to see how far it had come,i am sure that by the end of the year windows store will have all the famous app.what are ur thoughts

Here in my part of Europe the 8x is 2/3 the price of the 920 and the lumia is a tad cheaper than the 16gb iphone 5
Doesn't .. WP have Spotify?
You did the right thing.
are u in honduras or el salvador?
Do an after the buzz for the Lumia 920.
Like Jaime said...I'm a social junkie, instagram is one of those things I really like...a phone without instagram and spotify can change my choice. Yeah I have android and a iPod touch, a windows device can be welcome
i am waiting for Joe Levi's After The BUZZ Nexus 4
Do the Ativ S next time! :D
do the Lumia 920 please
Just an awesome phone. I love the design and screen and i really like wp8 however sometimes it isn't at it's best. Especially with the marketplace developers, like whatsapp. Whatsapp on windows phone could be a great app but it is actually far behind the iOS and Android app.
Won't go back to Windows until they have a notification center, quick toggles like Android and fix that multitasking thing.
Michael Fisher's voice, aaand it's Jamie Rivera. I liked it though.
After the buzz lumia 920 ?
nice house you have there
Can you add your own music to WP8?
lacks customizability, if I can flash Roms and install launchers and other goodies then maybe I will get it.
HTC should improve on certain things but the design is nice.
no! i dont want to skip the intro..
Windows Phone 8 apps can Fast Resume from the start screen after all. Google it
In the UK the 8x is a lot cheaper than the 920
I'll give windows phone os another 2-3yrs before I try it coz now it's not that well polished and the lack of apps is also a major issue.

At least it's a bit better with Windows Phone 8 (if apps choose to support it)
Windows Phone 7.5 buddy... Just throwing that out there ;-). It's not like if I can just install WP7.5 on this device for the review.
I like it but it seems to be that too expensive for a windows phone
the me tile is the notification center of ur phone did u know that ?? any thing that comes related to u a notification pops up to this me tile :D and all other live tiles r the notification center of the app what do u want ??
You said it, I didn't. Whatever the problem is, the problem is there, and I did my job in mentioning it.
Watch my HTC One X After The Buzz and you'll see my collection of HTC devices.
I like it but refuse to buy a windows phone until they get more apps. And Spotify is a MUST!!!
LOL, thanks!
windows phone does have spotify. just throwing that out there lol
i buy it but if android , the style so good :)
