The death of Gwen Stacy was the first time ever that the love of a superhero died as a result of said hero's failure. I feel like the writers did this a bit too well, but the deaths that we don't want are the ones that make the more dramatic story. Gwen didn't deserve to die. It's so unfair.
I was so Heartbroken and sad because of this even the title hurts you in the feels. Like he's gonna have the rest of his life without her. I'm gonna miss the Amazing Spiderman Franchise.
+TheRalphySupreme I agree with you... The title makes it so much worse. On the bridge, he says "I'm just gonna follow you for the rest of my life." Just an hour or so later, she goes to the one place he cannot follow. My heart breaks everytime I hear this.

Personally, I think the sound effects in the background make it so much sadder, I love it! When you hear the water drops, and faint police siren in the beginning, then you can hear the wind and the leaves rustling towards the end. It's just so beautifully depressing. When I hear this theme I can totally picture Gwen and Peter from the Amazing SpiderMan comics.
The fact that Gwen dies had actually been spoiled for me. But when I watched the movie itself, and Gwen hit the ground... I still felt winded and blindsided because of how it happened
+Pj Foley i tought it was in the comics and the movie universe is different i didnt see this coming you didnt too no one did facts don't make it true and i dont want to give examples as it will spoil the movies

The description says you were able to remove all dialogue but not all the sound effects. That’s a good thing, because the raindrops, wind, and whatever other sounds are in there make it even better.
The way Gwen's head hits and rebounds off the ground is so quick that it shocks you to the core when you see it, almost so that you can't believe it. The Hanz Zimmer score makes the whole thing even more heartbreaking. I hope Andrew's Spidey got some peace at least in No Way Home.
My jaw hit the floor as hard as gwen did when this happened. I liked Garfields Spider-Man because they really put emphasize into his humanity. He’s still Peter Parker, a human just trying to live life. These movies had potential to be really great. This scene and Tom Holland crying when Stark died wrecked me emotionally. They both sold it.
@@kiribakugou425 TASM2 may be a technically worse movie with the overly convoluted plot and too many (weak) villains but, having said that, this movie understands Spider-Man more as a character and the lore than FFH thinks it does! FFH honestly made me feel angrier and it felt like a Disney Channel original movie compared to the other Spidey movies, even Homecoming!
Y más peor aún en el cómic de Spider-Man Blue cuando es San Valentín Peter le deja una rosa en el puente donde murió Gwen ahora imagínense que en el universo de TAS Peter dejé una rosa en la Torre de Reloj donde murió :""""(
I don't know why this movie is Soo underated but one thing is for sure,he will always be the best Spider-Man out there. Andrew Garfield's acting really hit the emotion perfectly cause most of my friends and I always burst to tears watching this scene. I know most of you will disagree because you love the MCU's Spiderman but c'mon you're just playing yourselves
Andrew Garfields my favorite Spider-Man, I watched The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 way before Tom Holland’s, this scene is why I loved the film, it was so tragic and heartbreaking but at the same time so well done.
I think the film version works so much better because you can really feel the emotion that Peter must be dealing with , it sets a whole tone with Gwen’s speech at the beginning
Here death works in comics not on film especially this film very disappointed they should have made this franchise about Peter and Gwen who better suit then MJ she was created because she damsel in distress
+Robert Kelly how does her death not work? It teaches him the same lesson, the dangers of his secret and the limitation of his power. He doesn't always get to have the perfect happy ending
Sazprincess It shouldn’t have happened in the films because they and better chemistry I films then comics I can see why I work in the comics but not the film
+Robert Kelly I absolutely 100% disagree. What is is the point in killing a love interest that a hero has no chemistry with? What effect would have for an audience to kill someone they don't care enough about?
I lost my bestfriend. She was the best thing that ever happened to me. Now that she's gone I feel this void growing inside me. I loved her so much... But I could never tell her how I feel... I kept referring her as my GWEN because she was a lot similar to Gwen Stacy, she was smart, beautiful. I wish I could change things, everyday I get reminded about her, everyday I keep blaming myself for losing her. I'll never be the same guy again but I'll be always be thankful to her for 1000 of memories that we made together for the rest of our lives.
Hey friend, I'm really sorry to hear that, I can relate perfectly to you because something similar happened to me, only with a happy ending, I still suffered and I can't imagine what it would have been like if I lost her, I hope you can move on for the memory of your Gwen and yourself, here is someone giving you encouragement.
Well this was beautiful, still gutted Garfield was dropped as Spidey, hope to see him in great roles again soon as he's a great actor, genuinely love the guy, also glad to read he & Emma seem to at least get on as friends still, their chemistry in both films was brilliant
A year later and this still gets to me. I knew Gwen was supposed to die, read the comic book when I was younger, but I still wasn't prepared. This scene and the music breaks my heart everytime.
Wow this gives me some shivers and it's really benefic if the others sound effects have been kept 'cause it's excellent regarding the atmosphere and the feeling conveyed. You feel in a better way Peter's pain. One of the most sadistic and transcendent scene, for sure.
the best of all heros Spider man the one that lost his parents, saw his uncle die infront of him, lost gwens father, lost his love, lost his friend, lost his life to Doc oct, lost marry jane. taking care of aunt May. so when does spider man go crazy
I rewatched TASM 2 along with the first one and the raimi trilogy to get ready for No Way Home. Honestly, while not my favorite movies, I still feel they had a unique identity and Garfield I think deserves props as a really good spider-man, maybe even my personal favorite in some areas. I grew up with the Tobey ones and I'll always love them, but I never hated the Garfield ones like some people did, and after rewatching them, even though I still wish a lot of aspects were better, I finally have a newfound appreciation for Andrew. However, the death of Gwen Stacey is a scene that even when I first saw it years ago, absolutely destroyed me. One of my fears is being unable to save those who I hold close to me, and seeing this absolutely crushed me. Even with TASM 2's flaws, IMO the death of Gwen Stacey was handled beautifully especially the music during it, and to this day it still messes me up hard. Hell I was begging for Gwen to live and cheering for Spider-Man to save her, but it wasn't enough.
_"Stay with me, stay with me, stay with me, stay with me, you stay with me... stay with me..._ _Gwen? Gwen!_ _No please, please, Gwen!_ _I can't do this without you..."_
There is still hope to change that what if in the multiverse Andrew meets another Gwen from a different world where she’s spider Gwen and the universes collide together
Brilliant use of movie music because at first, in the movie when you're still waiting for Gwen to wake up is when you barely hear the music, but it's still there in the background. Throughout the whole scene, the music slowly guides you to the emotional crescendo of realizing that she is not going to wake up... 0:22 the moment you hear the first piano keys is the moment in the scene where the realisation hits you and Peter, it's when you realize she's gone ;-; And once you have properly realized this, the other instruments (string instruments?) come in as well to strengthen the feels
Why do people hate TASM2? It was not a superhero movie. It treated grief. Innocence. Failure. Weakness. Fear. Inadequacy. Joy. Foolishness. Wisdom. Bravery. Error. Death. Life. Pain. It was not a superhero movie. These were events that happened to real people.
Reading comments about this scene and tragedy in the film I wanted to make a comment in response and post my own feelings. First off who's fault it was for her death overall. Some wrote it was Spider-Man's/Peter's and some wrote it was Gwen's. To me it's the Green Goblin. He intended for her death to hurt Peter. His attacks is what made it possible. Now for the one's who wrote it was Gwen's fault I think that while she made her choice to head into danger it was one of heroism. As she said it was her choice over her life but mostly she knew the power grid thus was somebody who could help Peter in his battle at the time. Let's pretend she didn't go to the powerplant what would be the consequences. Peter would be dead + thousands would be dead due to hospitals not running and the planes crashing. No more Spider-Man to help the city and here comes the Sinister Six or at least other villains to make more disasters unchallenged. Her brave actions heading into a dangerous situation for the safety/lives of others and Peter's in the end did have her die but as a martyr hero as her taking action and her role at the plant saved thousands and Spider-man who will continue to save thousands due to her intervention. Other heroes in comics and movies do the same thing such as Steve Rogers who wanted to serve his country heading into a dangerous war but clearly unfit in body (until he gained his super abilities). Seen as foolish by some but still courageous and noble. Gwen was noble, courageous, brave, smart, and caring and those aspects was shown in both films making her a extraordinary non-powered but with her will and smarts hero. Yes her deciding to go to the plant was part of the aspects that resulted in the unfortunate aftermath of her death but both Spider and Gwen had no clue about Green Goblin plus again if she didn't Peter and thousands would of died instead. Though as further fault goes in the grand scheme of things where was the cops, swat, army, coast guard, ect? Why no barrier, assistance, or back for Spider-Man? Now the positives of her death in the movie: Beautiful, moving, and hauntingly good sad music (it also make the music "We're best friends" and the overall both movies in the series now very sad and tragic to see and hear as we now officially know of her death in this series thus the love adds to the feelings of lost and sadness that we now can see in retrospect and foresight). Beautifully shot scene and the chemistry of the two and acting in the 3-8 minutes adds to the punch and grief. When Peter begs it break me. Cons: Everything else. The writers killed what many considered the strongest and best part of this series. The love of Gwen and Peter and their interactions. Romance can be difficult to write and act out. The naturally chemistry of the actors and writing of the two was fantastic. With Gwen's death many felt like there was nothing left and ended on a very down note. Now many will write "It's happened in the comics". Yes I know 616 Gwen died in the comics. This was not 616 Gwen nor that world. This was a different Gwen (and like all Gwens this Earth Gwen was one who isn't a perfect copy of any other Earth Gwen making her overall character just hers) like many alternate Gwens are from various Earths. This was not 616 Earth as well. This was a Earth that another group of writers was making. This Spider-man like majority in the media was influenced by the comic 616 version but ultimately followed it's own different direction.from every other version of Spider-man in some form. Thus just because it happened on one Alternate Earth called 616 doesn't mean ALL Earths must follow one direction. By saying "It happened in the comics" well so is Peter's death and MJ death in many comics as well. In the end it was the writers who had to decide if Gwen would live or die and all the ways and setups. Now let's say the writers always planed for her to die. Before she dies things need to be setup for Peter to move on plus show to the viewers a way to move on as well. Now going back to "It happened in the comics" view on 616 MJ was a established character and one that had interactions with both Gwen and Peter. When Gwen did die MJ was there to comfort (and also be comfort mourning Gwen as well) Peter developing as a character past party girl and from that their relationship began to take a foundation. That never happened in the movie. Peter was broken for basically 5 months it seems and it was Aunt May and a sort of beyond the grave message from Gwen that got peter back on track. Now they cut the part of MJ out in the movie and that was a mistake. No interactions with Peter and Gwen meant no way to make a solid foundation with viewers and in the next movie (which will never be) could easily be seen as "Replacement goldfish love interest" and have the shadow of Gwen hanging over the actress MJ. Even if it was planed at the beginning of the first movie of Gwen's death seeing how positive the viewers had with Gwen and Peter should of been a warning and a sign to make a rewrite and remove the death. Some said Gwen of 616 was bland and while I don't know about that as that is a personal option this Gwen to me was not bland but a great love interest/partner and even more than that of a character. In the comics 616 Gwen's death was unexpected and shocking. Now people seem to be expecting her death now in the other Earth's Gwen lives on that thus if we want to capture the sprint of the feeling of unexpected that 616 comic gave to it's readers than having her NOT die would now be the unexpected route. Overall the writers should of looked at the big picture and setups and said "Is Gwen's death in this series overall good in the long run based on what we made and story alone with no outside influences plus where can we go from here if she lives or dies?" "What do we gain from her death now for the series and what do we lose from her death now for the series and if she lives what do we gain and what do we lose?" Finally her dying just as she made a point to it was her life and choices not her Dad's and Peter's and her responsibility for her choices then killing her sent a very bad unintended implication message. As one person from The Agony Booth has stated: "Gwen’s death scene is so funny, in fact, that it almost distracts from how offensively misogynist the whole thing is. Not because Gwen dies; that’s fine. It’s the context in which she dies. Peter has spent the whole movie being protective of Gwen while being haunted by the ghost of her father who wanted her to stay away from Peter for her own safety... Gwen insists on coming along despite Peter’s best efforts to stop her. She even makes this big speech about how no one’s telling her what to do and she’s making her own decisions. The end result is that when the Green Beavis kills her, the reaction is essentially, 'oh, why didn’t poor, fragile Gwen listen to the men in her life like she was supposed to?'" On a side note it's also sad this movie was made in 2013-2014 and came out mid 2014. One year later: Edge of Spider-Verse Gwen Stacy Spider-Woman issue #2 comes out and is a big hit and she gained her own series. Possible that if Sony/the writers saw that then possibly Gwen's fate in this movie series might of gone a little differently. Gwen of this series already showed signs of brave heroism and responsibility worthy of a super gift and could of been more of a origin/perpetration for a bigger destiny then the "Stuffed into the Fridge" and "I Let Gwen Stacy Die" token dead failed girlfriend tropes.
The best spiderman, it's not open to debate, he Is the best, Is young enough, has the backstory of His parents, it's the smartest, the One who enjoys the most His Powers, the sadest One, the best swinging, it's just like the comics
I like how Tobey and Andrew’s spider man stories have consequences involved. It shows that being spider man is a gift, as well as a burden. You can feel the weight of the world on their shoulders, and how it can affect a character so young. Tom’s spider man movies are essentially comedies, and in Far From Home he almost killed a fellow classmate due to jealousy over a girl, and there were no consequences. Where’s the ‘with great power, comes great responsibility’ in that?
I hope you are happy with No Way Home (spoilers below) Tom Peter Parker has lost everything now, literally everything, his nanotech and gadgets, his friends, his girlfriend, his aunt, he is broke... all he has left is his web shooters, his homemade suit, and his will to keep fighting and live up to his responsibility as his universe's Spider-Man. MCU Spider-Man finally got REAL consequences.
@@strigers8007 I know right, I’m so glad they did it. Im actually happy with how they gave him everything first, so he could rely on it, and then took it all away. I think it’s more interesting than making him not have much to rely on to begin with, because he has to get used to not having anyone or anything to rely on now. 100% worth the last 2 movies
what a beautyfull remark from the director! when gwen dies the towerclock stops running and stand on 1.21! in the spiderman comicbook series shy died in #121!
Absolutely nothing could have prepared me for Gwen's death. I spent all of The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 just thinking of how Peter and Gwen could possibly be one of my all time favorite romances. Even after her fall, I didn't believe she was dead. That's the true beauty of the scene. I felt like I was going through the same exact stages of denial that Peter was, the realization only slowing dawning on me that she was dead.
This version is really sadder than the one on the album :( RIP Gwen Stacy 1997-2014. You are a much better girlfriend for Peter Parker rather than that idiotic Mary Jane Watson....
It's rather amazing how much more feels you can get out of a song like this by raising the notes a few octaves. *Goes to a corner and starts crying eyes out*
Wow what a way to end the series off prematurely!!!!!! We didn't even get to see sony remaster doc oc or venom yet!!!! What the hell who ever wanted to cancel the series!!!! >:(
***** I thought series was better then Sam Rami Spider-man movies Garfield better spiderman and Peter Parker shame sony called series half way through this was best spider-man movie ever made in my opinion. Gwen death didn't like but was inevitable as was in comics they always copy comics even though not obliged to.
This movie may have not be great or even that memorable, but I know one thing for sure. This scene and music will always be unforgettable. Not matter how many more movies we get, this scene will always be one of the most memorable scenes in the entire Spider-Man franchise. Andrew Garfield, you will always be remembered as the best Spider-Man.
Spoiler warning, although it's highly unlikely people that haven't watched no way home will find this comment. "I lost....... I lost Gwen. My um..... She was my mj. I couldn't save her, I'm never going to be able to forgive myself for that. But I carried on, tried to keep going, tried to keep being the friendly neighborhood spider man cause I know that's what she would've wanted. But at some point I just stopped pulling my punches, I got rageful, I got bitter. I just don't you..... To end up like me."
I’m so happy I decided to give Andrew’s movies a chance because I just finished watching them last week. Seeing the new movie and hearing him say that felt like someone squished my heart. :(
Honestly the amazing Spider-Man series was my all time favorite I don’t see why people hate on these movies or the Spider-Man outfit from the first one
It might sound exaggerated but this scene actually reminded me of how tough being a hero could be. You know everything's upto you. You know your tiny mistakes can lead to great disasters. It's all or nothing kind of situation for them. And Peter here got NOTHING. I feel sad that he blames himself for her death till now (Spiderman: No Way Home). How I wish superheroes had their tragedies and regrets too, like too often; just like the villains usually have. Villains make more sense sometimes and heroes just feel overdramatic and lame. I just want people to act fine towards deaths in movies. I mean death for superheroes. Without tragedies, you won't get to realize great things for yourself. Sadness and pain makes stories real. There shouldn't always be rise and shine. Yeah... That's me I guess. If you read till here, well done!👍🏼
Andrew did SUCH AN AMAZING JOB with looking soooo sad and crying so much!!!! I cried so much with just looking at the pics, Andrew is such an awesome actor! I can NEVER look that heartbroken and sad as Andrew, he deserves so many awards! Acting can be very difficult, believe me, I've tried it. This video reminds me of someone that I lost too. POV: "There you are, infront of your girlfriend graveyard next to her father to whom you made a promise to. You're probaply thinking: "i'm a superhero, i'm suppose to save people not let life take them away" then you realise that your responsibility is that you need to accept that you can not save everyone as a superhero you see in most movies and comics, even if it is someone you'd take a bullit for or risk your own life. The girl you have been together for a couple years, now gone and you can not forgive yourself for the rest of your life, you're standing infront of her grave everyday, every weather and season, christmas or easter and you wish every time you stand infront of her grave that you have saved her in time or never let her involve into any risk of danger and, you don't know how you need to move on without her or, if you will be able to keep your superhero job up after losing the most important persons in your life. You realise you don't have parents anymore, you realise that the uncle who saw you as a son is no longer there anymore to say dad things and teach you that with great powere comes great responsibility. And now, you're standing infront of whay you believe is your fault and your responsibility . But then you realise that the hardest part about this job is, you can't always save everybody."
One of the most emotional and heart breaking scene. From the moment In slow motion you could see a hand in the web trying to catch her desperately. When Emma's face appears along with the soundtrack, man it was beautiful but heartbreaking.
The fact that after this he was fired from playing spider man, he broke up with Emma Stone and recieved so much hate for his movies just makes it more sad. Just like Peter, Andrew suffered too. It's like he was the actual spiderman

The death of Gwen Stacy was the first time ever that the love of a superhero died as a result of said hero's failure. I feel like the writers did this a bit too well, but the deaths that we don't want are the ones that make the more dramatic story. Gwen didn't deserve to die. It's so unfair.

I actually agree. While I believe the Raimi movies are a million times better, Andrew’s character and performance were the best

At gwens death the clock time stops at 121 that's the same issue gwen died nice easter egg if you haven't seen it look at the clock at the last fight
Here death works in comics not on film especially this film very disappointed they should have made this franchise about Peter and Gwen who better suit then MJ she was created because she damsel in distress
Also, in this video, the image of the clock appears at... You guessed it! 1:21
This broke me. I love this movie and I think his performance was incredible all the way through it.
Hope you are doing okay !!! Sending you lot's of positive energy and love 💜

That scene in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 where Gwen Stacy died was the saddest moment in that film

It's beautiful, but it's so sad 😢
Now the positives of her death in the movie:
Beautiful, moving, and hauntingly good sad music (it also make the music "We're best friends" and the overall both movies in the series now very sad and tragic to see and hear as we now officially know of her death in this series thus the love adds to the feelings of lost and sadness that we now can see in retrospect and foresight).
Beautifully shot scene and the chemistry of the two and acting in the 3-8 minutes adds to the punch and grief. When Peter begs it break me.
Cons:
Everything else.
Overall the writers should of looked at the big picture and setups and said "Is Gwen's death in this series overall good in the long run based on what we made and story alone with no outside influences plus where can we go from here if she lives or dies?" "What do we gain from her death now for the series and what do we lose from her death now for the series and if she lives what do we gain and what do we lose?"
Finally her dying just as she made a point to it was her life and choices not her Dad's and Peter's and her responsibility for her choices then killing her sent a very bad unintended implication message. The end result is that when the Green Beavis kills her, the reaction is essentially, 'oh, why didn’t poor, fragile Gwen listen to the men in her life like she was supposed to?'"
On a side note it's also sad this movie was made in 2013-2014 and came out mid 2014.
I can't remember if I cried when I first saw this movie, but in my head I was heartbroken when Gwen died.😭

I hope Andrew's Spidey get to see Gwen in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
I'm hoping for that
I like how Tobey and Andrew’s spider man stories have consequences involved.
I hope you are happy with No Way Home (spoilers below)
Tom Peter Parker has lost everything now, literally everything, his nanotech and gadgets, his friends, his girlfriend, his aunt, he is broke... all he has left is his web shooters, his homemade suit, and his will to keep fighting and live up to his responsibility as his universe's Spider-Man.
