I just had this surgery done yesterday from Pristyn Care. Everything was seamless. Keep in mind that the surgery is going to be painless because your lower half body will be under anaesthesia. After that the wound will not bother you because it will be nicely dressed. The game starts the next day when nurse will come to do your dressing. That is the only part that pains. Hold your screams if it pains, but it takes 5 minutes to do the medical dressing there- hold it for that long and you’re good. This dressing should be done everyday for 15-30 days depending on wounds healing. Doctor told me it’s a 10 minute surgery but didn’t tell me it would take 1 month to heal. 😭 But it’s okay. I had to get it done anyway.
I would recommend going for the laser surgery of the the pilonidal sinus only if your disease is not complex because this surgery has a high recurrence rate eventhough they are claiming to have low recurrence rate it is high because this is a comparatively new treatment for pilonidal sinus so not many long term follow up studies are done on this. I had this surgery a year back ( at some other clinic) and now the disease has reoccurred again. So in my view you can go for it because it is a very simple procedure and you will have almost no pain apart from slight discomfort and the surgical wound will fully heal within a month but the main drawback is that the recurrence rate is high. For people who have complex pilonidal disease and if the sinus keeps reoccurring they should look into flap surgery specifically cleft lift option which has the lowest recurrence rate supported by medical literature.
