RV Camping at Miracle Beach Provincial Park - Vancouver Island, BC - Fall 2021

- In this video, I give you a look at the campground at Miracle Beach Provincial Park located near Campbell River, British Columbia. It's early October 2021 and the leaves are just beginning to change color. Being shoulder season the campground is less used leading to a very peaceful vibe.
Then I take you along with me a pretty hike along the Black Creek and out its estuary to the ocean and the beach. The namesake Miracle Beach is the star attraction. With lots of flat sandy areas exposed at low tide and sweeping ocean views of the Strait of Georgia, Discovery Islands, and BC coastal mountains in the distance.

As you drive towards the entrance to Miracle Beach there are some deep ditches on the side of the road and I’ve seen huge salmon in the ditches alive and thrashing around!

Love Miracle Beach and Saratoga. I managed to get over there this year and brought back so many memories. As a kid I used to camp with my parents here and I also lived nearby for a while, very near by close to Courtenay. It was a little paradise to me. Thanks for great walk around.

What a great video! I really want to get out to BC, and see all the gorgeous forests and the ocean. I’ll be there in 2 years from Florida. The beaches here are also incredible but different.
Thanks. I visited Florida in 2011 and loved all the different wildlife and the beaches. I think a big difference you'll find out here is how much the elevation changes compared to FLA which is so flat. :) We have lots of hills and mountains, water falls, big raging rivers etc. and BIG trees. :)
I've only used Miracle Beach as a day use type thing, often on our way back down Island we will stop for a lunch or snack and a sit on the beach. In season, sitting on the sandy beach it is quality people watching, for sure.

Great walk through the woods and beach Ray. I'm with you as far as how you camp! I always laugh at some people's comments. Never been into those fancy camp ground. Enjoy 🤠

What an amazing combination.
I don't think there are many places where you can see both at the same time.
Think Norwegian fjords, but not quite to the edge of the water.

I have lost about a dozen good size salmon (Tyees) to seals and sharks by Quadra Island, but landed plenty for myself. There's enough to go around, so what if I helped some of the aquatic locals get a meal.
Ray is there any clamming there at Miracle beach. I seem to remember being somewhere in that area at a park with lots of clamming and some oysters.

Are there bears on Vancouver Island and if so, what kind? Black, Grizzlies or Alaskan Brown Vear?
We have lots of black bears and sparse amounts of grizzly bears. Grizzlies aren't very common, occasionally a few are spotted at the north end of the island that have swam over from the mainland but don't usually stay long. We also have cougars and wolves but no coyotes.
Are you allow to collect and burn the drift wood?
Not in the provincial park area but people have beach fires along other parts of the coast.
Do you or anyone know if the Red Squirrel different than a Douglas Squirrel?
Yes, I read that it has a orange underbelly versus whitish
