      @@rmetcvideos Sir I don't want to sound ignorant but now a days we don't have such type of tea talks onboard where older generation would intrigue such curiosity amongst youngsters. These tea time talks actually used to create better seafarers for next generation. Where C/E would ask some questions, Although it might be embarassing of not knowing the answers at the time but this would ignite a fire of quest in juniors. Now a days tea times are to read WhatsApp messages or making reports for office. There is no time for exchange of knowledge. Ofcourse few exceptions are always there.

    One more thing to add in this video, from my last ship experience we almost lost the chain in heavy winds as chain stopper was improperly fitted and brake band was lose, on investigation find out the chain stopper was not properly secured and brake not fully applied as all the pivot points pins were stuck due to rust and pain , pins were made free and deck officers briefed about regular greasing of these points

    But what can be the reason in that video why anchor chain got stuck intermittently which makes him open up the break more and more ? 🤔

    • @rmetcvideos
      @rmetcvideos  3 года назад +1

      As I had mentioned in the video, if the clearance was excessive, on opening the brake wheel, only The Bottom brake band opens up. The top brake band remains rubbing against the Cable lifter wheel and causes friction to rotation. The chain wheel will not be able to rotate freely.The Top brake band will create a clearance with the Chain wheel only After the Bottom Band rests on the support Bolt.

    • @vinu00012
      @vinu00012 3 года назад

      @@rmetcvideos Now understood the reason sir. Thank you.
      So the supporting screw height should be so adjusted that both the half’s of the liner should open with same clearance around the break drum ! ¿ Am I right or can you just tell what’s the criteria of adjusting the height of that supporting screw 😬

    • @rmetcvideos
      @rmetcvideos  3 года назад +1

      Within two,3 turn of the wheel opening the Bottom Band should touch the support bolt.
