Today we try to get this old Briggs and Stratton 5hp water pump running.

Some of the older briggs engines have a set of points and a condenser in behind a cover behind the flywheel (flywheel has to come off, don't lose the key, the magnet on the flywheel loves stealing it), usually if they have ignition troubles the points are involved, dragging some 120 grit in between them with the points closed usually does the trick. I think if they have them you'll see an extra wire or two coming off the side of the coil heading south. Can still get a kit with new points and condenser over from the US for about 30 bucks.
