Chase Sapphire Reserve comes with a Priority Pass membership which gives you access to hundreds of lounges in the US and several hundred more around the globe. I’ve been to lounges at several major airports with it.
Amex Platinum has Priority Pass membership included as well you sign up for it and the Priority Pass card arrives in the mail. CSR comes in handy though with international travel where you find Amex isn't accepted everywhere.
Youre obviously biased to the Amex, you missed a bunch of things on the Chase Sapphire. You get executive car rental membership with multiple rental car companies. Especially the Priority Pass it gives access hundreds of lounges in America.
Priority Pass in included on the Amex Platinum you sign up for it and the PP card arrives in the mail. Priority Pass lounges and Centurion Lounges makes for lots of options!
I am tryna choose between both. I like fine dining and I wanna travel more. But I already have the AMEX gold with no spending limit so I think I’m just gonna upgrade it to platinum.
I think the Reserve falls into the VX category as it’s easy to use. You buy a cab, that fair gets waived by your travel credit automatically. The Platinum is so tedious to use unless you literally spend money at all the partners naturally. With that being said the $695 AF versus the $550 AF is what makes breaks that Platinum for me. With the credit, the AF essentially is $250 for the Reserve whereas the AF for the Platinum varies if you use the credits.
You can't put the Reserve and the VX in the same category because with the VX, it's a single credit that mostly offsets everything. With the Reserve, yes the credit is arguably better and more versatile, but you've still got a 250 AF. And now that Chase is dropping PP restaurants, it's really difficult to justify over the VX.
Dumb question from someone new to this world of trying to find a card to save on business class airfare: you say you don't really use your AmEx Platinum much since it's not a good card for accruing points---but if you don't use it to accrue points, you don't have the points to use or transfer to airline partners, right? What am I missing?
This was very good, though I think you did not place quite enough emphasis on international travel. In this category I can tell you that the CSR wins hands down, especially on the ground! Really cool presentation👍🏾 As to the luxury travel space and best value transfer partners in int'l 1st/Bus class, Amex is simply peerless😎
Thanks so much for this comment!! Really opens up to discussion haha. Would you mind elaborating on CSR winning on the ground? I’d like to know more about that statement.
@@nubianpwr @Phillpak as well as primary insurance for car rental. And with Chase you can get 3x almost on everything regarding travel. In addition, the $300 credit are easy to redeem on the Reserve. The $200 on the Platinum not so much.
Warning: Did any of you dear cardholders actually try to use Chase Sapphire Reserve card's benefits? Such as car rental insurance? Please share your experience. I did and it was a nightmare. My claim was for a low dollar amount, but if you think you get decent insurance up to $75K, you better think again. Don't let the nice feel of holding thick, metal card fool you if you are smart.
@@daw7773 Finally wrapped up my claim, but it wasn't in any way easy. They kept asking for more and more documents, which they didn't initially require . Kind of nerve wracking process. Since I don't rent cars often, I will just buy car rental's company insurance and that's that.
Great video. Personally, the I would never consider the Amex Platinum over the Sapphire Reserve because I love using my Chase points to stay at Park Hyatts.
Links in the bio for each of these cards! If you can’t choose between the two, choose both!!

Nice work! Thanks!
If I already have Amex platinum and want to get a everyday card for points should I get the chase platinum or the Amex gold?
Amex Blue Business Plus 2x everything!

@@Phillpak 3x on "all" travel, 3x on restaurants, 10x on hotels, and finally Visa's near universal acceptance.

Thanks for the video. I was looking at San Jose airport and they have lounge on Terminal A. Is that not part of priority pass?

I heard the same complaint about Chase “primary” car insurance being very difficult to honor/pay out claims.
