- Girsa's music video for "Immigrant Eyes" filmed on Ellis Island July 4th 2009. The young ladies in Girsa play traditional Irish music and perform at events, concerts and festivals. They currently are attending high schools and colleges and come from northern NJ and Pearl River NY. The song was written by Guy Clark and recorded at the Ellis Island Immigration Museum, courtesy of the National Park Service, and was produced by the volunteers of WCTV.

we played Immigrant Eyes at the end of my son Jimmy Patricks funeral Mass as he went to Ireland all alone at 17 years old saving his money from his own job.
Guy Clarks genius is largely underappreciated.
Bravo girls. You did them proud. All of them. We all are grateful for relatives who dared to come here hoping to be welcomed in and made it. Rough seas and tough times did not scare them away when their hopes and dreams were stronger. You brought dignity to their plight.
This is a Humbling song with incredible voices singing it. An Absolutely stunning performance!
Impressive beyond words: beautiful song, uplifting theme, inspired (indeed perfect) location, entrancing performance . . . absolutely outstanding. This production epitomizes what a music video SHOULD be and so very rarely delivers. Thanks to all involved.
May God Really Bless You for sharing your talents with us.......
One of my favorite Guy Clark songs and you performed wonderfully.
It makes me sad to think of our ancestors who were forced to move to America for a better life! But what makes me even more sad is that today in 2010 it is happening all over again, thousands and thousands of young men and women are leaving Ireland again to go to countries such as America and Australia! Yet when I listen to this beautiful music from all the way across the big pond, I can't help but feel really happy because I know that a little piece of Ireland went with all those who left! :):)
My folks were "Scots Irish", often misnamed as Scotch Irish. They got here sometime shortly after 1750 and Settled in North Carolina. In 1820 my Great Great Grandfather moved to Georgia, and here we remain. Americans All. Lovely song, but no memories of Ellis Island in family history. Nothing negative about those who came later. They, along with my kin, built America. Did a pretty damned good job of it too. It's saddening to see people so Hell Bent on destroying what our people built, in a misguided quest for "Diversity".
I heard this in my english class about America (i'm from Norway) and I was struck by the song's beauty instantly. I love it!
Amazing rendition. One of the most underrated songs. Another excellent rendition is from the Canadian Choir of Miners, The Men Of The Deeps
I love how put that song together, I know a singer who said that is the best Immigrant Eyes she had ever heard. Keep up the great work.
Absolutely beautiful; one of the most memorable performances I've ever seen.
This is really great Girsa.. congrats. I missed the segment on Tg4 so went searching to see if anyone had put it up but found this instead... Very proud of my cousins... and you all know who i am thinking of every note of the song.

Its is just amazing what our grandparents did to get here in the US. We need to stop and think about that when we think we have it tough somedays.

Thanks for your positive feedback. Volunteers produced and edited this video for Girsa. It was a great experience to be at Ellis Island, a place that should be visited. Also, check out the Girsa audio CD which is available on their website ! Happy holidays to all.

Awesome . This is one of the most underrated songs ever. Another amazing rendition is from the Canadian Coal Miner's Choir, Men of the Deeps sung by Nipper Macleod. But this is also just as good.

Our people embodied diversity. And were met with the same suspicion as immigrants today.
