I have to make this! I love that boxy fit. And can we please admire that stripe matching behind you 😉. I can’t wait to see everything collecting back there.
Very attractive & comfy looking top. I can think of so much potential with it. I’ve actually taken a few days break from sewing. Our weather is getting warmer so I decided to get winter things out & summer things in. I need to see what I have for vacation time next month down in Florida. I have managed to lose little over 15 lbs and between boobs and hips I’ve lost around 2-21/4 inches. So a few shorts that were too tight last year are now fitting me. So I am quite happy about that. I too got some free fabric. I had a gift card and I ordered a nice linen blend to make a skirt. I will need some elastic but the rest of skirt is free.
Wow. I am always amazed how much length matters; proportions are important for shorter folks as I am 5'2". Whitney: In your photo, you appear like you grew 5 inches! Look at the image of having longer legs. I really like this version of the Core T-shirt. Great look. Good job! ~ L
Good morning, Whitney! You are looking very fabulous in your spring green tee today! As a very busty girl, myself, I tend to shy away from boxy tee’s only because I can’t get them to hang correctly below the bust. I’ve tried darts from the bottom and that seems to be my best bet since I’m so much smaller from the bust down. I believe you’ve achieved a good silhouette with the darts that you’ve added here. I love that warmed up/toned down red on you…it really makes your hair and skin tone pop! (Especially with your khakis!). Thank you for the lead on this pattern…I do love the seam finishes it provides, and believe I’m going to give it a go!
This is a great wardrobe piece, Whitney! I got the pattern when you showed us your plans. I used 100% cotton as well, but not the weight of yours - yours is gorgeous! I didn’t try the neck binding feature, but definitely will next time. My problem always comes from grading and/or adjusting the pattern for narrower shoulder, larger bust, expanding waist. I’ll try your darts and see how that works! Thanks for all you share, and have a great weekend!
I love that shoulder seam/across the back detail in ready to wear. I am so glad you pointed it out Otherwise I would have skipped this because I don't need another boxy t. This will be a great opportunity to try out closet core. I have been eyeing a couple of their patterns and haven't jumped in yet....
I think the free patterns are so smart for pattern companies to provide because it really gives you a sense for their drafting, instructions, ect. This is a wonderful pattern made better by being free!
Love the neck detail on this top! I think it was a great idea to add a dart, wish more knit patterns incorporated them. The fit is just a little better for a larger bust. I love admiring what’s hanging behind you, it’s a sneak peak of what’s to come😊
Great shirt. Have the pattern, just need to get fabric and sew it up! Also, can't wait to see your Wanderlust dress! I bought the pattern after seeing your first one, but again, haven't made it because I need to get fabric! The stripes are really speaking to me, so I think I need to answer a big fat YES!
This is also the pattern I used. I didn't do the facing piece just for times sake, and I made it into a dress by adding tiers. I was surprised that you said you did an FBA. When I downloaded the pattern it had both the regular and the full bust piece with a dart included. Super easy and cute t-shirt pattern!
You are right that the larger size range does have a darted front. My upper bust measurement put me in the smaller size range (which was dartless and was drafted for a B cup). Because of that, I had to do my own FBA.
Thank you! It's the premium Merino wool jersey from The Fabric Store. I think this color is called Avocado. The fabric is pricey, but it makes the BEST naturally wicking t-shirts. I always wait for one of their sales and then stock up on a few of their colors.
Love your brick red boxy tee shirt. I have to download that Closet Core pattern. I was looking at a RTW tee shirt today that had binding across the back neck and I really like that detail. Speaking of binding, have you done or will you do a video on how the sew bias binding/facing on the curved shirttail hem? I am making the Melody Dolman Bouse from Love Notions and I wanted to do the hem with bias. Thanks, Whitney.
The striped maxi turned out lovely!!! I spy it on the rack 🥰
Thank you! I wore it on Friday and it is really lovely!
Cannot wait to see your capsule spring wardrobe ❣️
Oh good!

😂 thank you! I was very proud with the stripe matching I got on that dress!
What a lovely t-shirt! I do appreciate Closet Core Patterns’ details with their patterns! So great that this one is free!
I agree!

That's a lovely thing to happen!

Well, this is the highest compliment I could have received 😂. You are so right that proportion makes such a huge difference!
Didmt think Id want a boxy tee, but i made one w the pocket in a cotton spandex and am really loving it! I need a few colors now
I agree! I was pleasantly surprised with this pattern!
Love the t shirt and love the neck detail
Thank you!

Oh good! It's a lovely pattern, especially as a free one!
Lovely Tee with some great details for free. Going to get that one now. Thanks for all your hard work. Love the channel. Sew inspiring.
I'm so glad to hear this!
Love that tee! Love that outfit! 😍 Fantastic use of darts for shaping. The wonderful detailing, fit and color make it more than a basic tee.
I agree! This is more of an elevated t-shirt.

It's my pleasure!
My, your picture outside shows you windswept and interesting! Gigget’s entrance is an added bonus. Great choice for your entry.
😂 It was so windy. I felt like a model in front of a wind machine!
I just got mine. Now I need to make it up. Love yours. What a great detail on the back neckline!
I agree! Its such a lovely free pattern!
Love the "T". Pretty color! The neckline detail is great!
I saw Gidget!! :+)
Thank you so much!
You’re welcome
Whitney, what a great t-shirt. I love it and am heading over to get the pattern. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure!
I really like the dart in the t-shirt. Great tip!
Thank you!
That's crazy that you kids get out of school the end of May. I live in Maryland and my kids don't get out until June 17th!
My sister's kids (who are in Missouri) don't get out until mid June as well. We start school at the beginning of August, however.
Can wait for the stripe matching video! I have two pieces of striped fabric that I really want to match.
Oh good! I hope you enjoy that one!

I agree that the neck detail really takes this t-shirt up a notch and separates it from other, similar patterns!

Love the green in the t-shirt you are wearing. I'm wondering where you purchased the fabric.

Love your video. Looking forward to every one coming up!!!
Thank you!
It’s a lovely top. It looks comfy.
Thank you so much!

I show how I do that here: ruclips.net/video/izKapWwCfo8/видео.html . It's my favorite way to finished curved and shirt tale hems!
@@TomKatStitchery Thanks!
Cute t-shirt! 🤗
Thank you!
Can you show us how to add a dart to a dart less pattern? If you already have, let me know and I’ll look further. Thanks for sharing!
I feel like I've shown that before, but I can't easily find the video. I'll have to film another one! Stay tuned!
