A noble effort, Mike. There aren't enough videos like this that attempt to help people with their FFB. However, your FX info is incorrect. The road feel was incorporated into the Gain level during the Beta process. FX supplies the following effects: engine vibration, gearshifts and wheel scrub. Reiza recommends 80% Low Force Boost for Logitech DFGT and GXX wheels. All this is moot until the FFB meter returns to AMS 2. (It was in an earlier Beta.) Until then, we are all vulnerable to the placebo effect. 😃 Individual FFB car-tuning is on the way, although it might take a while to arrive. Reiza is writing a FFB guide.
Another clear and informative video Mike. Thanks! I've always preferred a lighter wheel and lower gain to get the feel I like. So I set my wheel FFB at 100 (CSP v2.5) and in AMS2 gain ~40-45. FX and Boost I keep low as well and mess with depending on car and/or track. It's also dependent on the rim I'm using.
Your test of being able to drive with just finger and thumb is similar to my experience IRL. I went for some professional driver training years ago and despite my car not having power assisted steering, the instructor demonstrated to me that even high speed bends (70mph plus) could be taken by just turning the wheel with his index finger on top of the wheel. Great video - it's much better to help someone find the settings that suit them, instead of "this setting value good, that value bad".
Finally someone that know what his talking about when it s about force feedback what you said in this video is basicaly what i was searching for since mounths now for those who still don't really know what FFB clipping means get informed and watch this video again you're going to learn alot and you're going to ehance your experience by quite alot thanks for this video i honestly think that this will help many of us .

Great video Mike! One thing regarding the FFB..... If you prefer to drive on light ffb settings, there is no point spending money on direct drive. Not saying that we should have it too strong either. It wont clip, in fact, increasing the strength on direct drive can bring up more details unless is exaggerated to the point of "too strong". Best thing about direct drive is a challenge where you get the chance to fight the wheel, sweat and finally a little fatigue which is also very exiting and rewarding. Once again, should never set to very strong. In addition, turning corners with two fingers seems like a joke. Thanks for sharing info, great effort Mike!
Another great video Mike. Very informative and helpful. Its early days for me in AMS 2 so I still have a bit of tuning to do on my Leo Bodnar SS2 (54) wheel. My current settings are: Gain 15-20, Low Force Boost 10-15 and FX 40-45.
Great video!! Keep up the good work! The most important thing to me is to simulate driving a real race car, times are not important in comparison with the experiencing as close as possible driving a real racing car. I would tunr the FFB up too. I feel that the details (for example the limit of loosing control) are much weaker in lower ffb settings, maybe I am wrong but I have to try more.
Good video Mike, will give it a try soon as. Reiza had stated FFB with be revised in V1. Hopefully they will have on the fly adjustment button like PC2, one of the few things SMS got right.
Top video! Really well done and informative! I must say coming from a non competitive background, I want to get a simucube 2 with the 30Nm motor just to feel what Group C drivers actually felt around Le Mans.
Great advice Mike... I'm still using my trusty G29 which I've had for the past 5 years... I've always used just enough FFB to give me the subtle effects, but as light as possible. Heavier settings may add to immersion, but for me make slower lap times.
Same here. I've always run my FFB as light as I can get away with. Some games that have really bad FFB (I'm looking at you WRC8) I run none. I'm running an Accuforce Pro V2 which is far stronger than I could ever want @ 13nm, but I bought it for the fidelity rather than the strength. Hope you are doing well Joe!
Me too! I want my shoulders and hands to feel it! I am not in great health and supposed to be confined to my bed, but I can still escape into the land of sim racing whenever I feel up to it, at least if my shoulders feel the burn after I know I'm still in the land of the living. I used to do some kart racing and after a 20min race I seem to remember feeling that in my shoulders, forearms and hands. After 3 or 4 races + some practice laps I know that I used to sleep very well after. I guess it depends on how long you're behind the wheel, I'm shortish bursts maybe a couple of hours, so it's on the higher side for me, if you're doing long stints then I guess it makes sense to drop it a little or hit the gym!
Fantastically put together video SimRacing604, and it helped me also in some cases, as you always do..... I had a ball last night, finally having many hours of driving in the sim, and had a blast testing out the myriad of car choices (I'm loving this sim, even with it's current few foibles ; ). My own Logitech G29 is set different as your settings naturally, so I hope to do one of my own video's soon too. But speaking of upcoming, is your head EXPLODING with idea's from this new sim, as I almost can't sleep with the number of possibilities this new sim offers the clever creators like yourself. (ohhh, and me too ; )
Some good info in there. Just getting started with my G920 with the V1-gen2, and I have it at 72/70/86 and it feels like most of the other SIM's, but actually a little better.
thxs Mike ! I also had to reduce rotation angle to 600 degrees (TS PC Racer) to get a tight drive especially for Formula cars. But I'm impressed by the FFB and the sensations. I'm already a big fan of RR, AC/ACC, but here we have something totally immersive and graphics are great. This smells very good for the final release. Kudos to REIZA !!!
this was super helpful. I started that game up and my wheel felt soo light, i have a ts-xw and i know that wheel puts out really well in asetto corsa comp.

@@SimRacing604 Don't be too jealous - it's mounting on a very flimsy NLR 'Racing Wheel Stand' before the P1X gets here. Just tried your P1 on Oulton recommendation and have a new favourite track/car combo in AMS 2 now. Thanks!
Thank you Mike. I was about to contact you to ask you how you were setting up your FFB in AM2 as I also run an Accuforce wheel. I always enjoy your videos and your take on sim racing in general. Please keep up the great work. Additionally, what wheel intensity are you running on the Sim Commander Software for this title? Once again, thank you so much for your videos and please keep at it.
Good video, thanks. I did change my mind about the quality of the FFB recently. Reiza's FFB handling and physics are much better than SMS, but it is frustrating that we cannot tune the FFB in more detail without diving into the files. Also lack of soft lock is a bit of a shocker as well. I have a Clubsport v 2.5 so I can adjust on the fly, but really, to not have soft lock is a big glaring omission.
i know this is a bit off topic, but i didn't know where else to put it. i think getting a good feel for brake settings is also monumental in how AMS 2 drives, i find that even if i use base set ups, if i don't lower break pressures, i cannot get my best out of the car. sorry to pull this off topic.
K I’m going back to making some adjustments again tomorrow :) thanks Mike. Agree lighter is better, finding that threshold is the key. Non dominant test is a good tip. T300 for me....for now.
While aliens may be faster with no ffb, for me it would defeat the whole purpose of sim racing, which is to get that immersive experience. I use sim racing to scratch the itch that otherwise would tempt me back to real racing, which would be unwise for so many reasons. I guess it is like methadone, to keep me off the hard stuff!
just loaded up the game and tried these suggested settings. Feels pretty good off the bat which is nice. The wheel has good weight to it (running a Logitech G27). only thing i need to work on is braking. I'm seem to have a heavy left foot and am locking up/losing a lot of time as a result. That's me though, not the game. Any tips for brake application in the game?
Nicholas Heath it might not be you, a lot of racers are saying the same. Try recalibrating the pedals twice, and then try various sensitivity settings and brake force setup in game. They’ve made a lot of progress in recent builds, but you’ll need to recalibrate and adjust the sensitivity manually for now. The brake force can be adjusted from the car setup menu when racing, try 60 or 70 %
Great video Mike! Really good advise. Although please read Stephen O'Sullivan's comment below. Having said that ... have you uploaded a profile to the Accuforce Owner's Club? ;-) (Alex @ The Extra Mile uploaded one for ACC that's insanely good, but way to heavy for me!)
One thing that’s always confused me is what to do with games (like AMS2) that don’t have settings for degrees of rotation. Will your degree of rotation settings on your wheel’s integrated settings menu simply translate to the game correctly? I also noticed that the FFB in both AMS 1 and 2 is incredibly strong. I’ve got the gain set to almost zero and the strength on my wheel base dialed down to 65/100, and I still had the belt drive on my CSL Elite slip, which has never happened before - scared the shit out of me and lost me 2 positions too. After I shut down the game and take my headphones off I can hear the fans in the wheel base blowing like crazy. Seems like the signal coming from the game is turned up to 11 or something...
Bensonius Prime This is something that I also miss in AMS2 and AMS1. It is supposed to be set in the car set but for tighter tracks like Monaco you need a faster response to get around the corners. Increasing the steering rack angle in setups helps, but not as much as reducing the degrees of wheel rotation. I use a Logitech G920 and would like to find a work around.
Thank you very much for this tutorial, Mike. Seems like only my Forza 7 is well configured, I will have to adjust the setting everywere else. Cheers from Brazil.
I have a thrustmaster t150, and for me ac has the better ffb for one reason: when you do a curve in real life, you have to hold your body in place as you feel the inertia pushing your body to the opposite direction of the curve. In Sims of course you body is not pushed in any direction. In ac, this push seems to be translated to the wheel. A light curve is translated to a light wheel resistance. A tight curve make your wheel more heavy, more difficult to turn. I don't feel this effect in acc or ams2 for example. Is this something related to my cheap wheel or its a game thing?
I have a T150 also. I couldn't get it to work with AMS1, but PC1/PC2 (on PS4) and feels good, AC feels great... but I'm still getting it dialed in on AMS2, and feel like EVERYTHING understeers very badly. Is this a default setup problem? T150/AMS2 calibration problem? I've calibrated many times, at different rotation levels. I don't have these problems at all with any other games.
@@beckett929 it's seems ok for me with ams2. I am not an expert to say that the setup is good or not. Just I don't feel it's too different than other simulators.
Great video, useful for double checking my settings. Thanks. I wonder if I might pick your brains? In rF2 the Acura ARX-01 is described as a LMP1 car, I thought that LMP1 cars had to have a closed cockpit? Or is the ARX-01 pre-dating that regulation? Any light you could cast on that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Thanks for watching. I’m not too sure about the LMP regulations, to be honest. It seems like the mid 2000’s were a crossover period between open and closed top LMP cars
Have you figured out server options. As in to create one to invite friends to race in? I tired but seems like a need an admin on server to activate it?
Can you adjust the FX and Vol on the fly, in game like that other title that we’re not supposed to compare to AMS2? It’s really helpful when there isn’t a per car ffb adjustment available.
Brent Osterstock yes! Absolutely. I’m not running SC4 with AMS2 right now, but I’m going to set it up later today. I’ll probably just post my settings in the description to this video, so check back in a day or two
Tsebo Moloto thanks so much! I’ll hopefully be doing a video next weekend with more details, but in general I have everything set to high or maximum/ultra. The game runs very efficiently on my system, so I’m able to sustain 60fps even with an aging i5/1080 based PC
SimRacing604 Thank you for the feedback, I set it to ultra everywhere possible but running 1080 res and stable enough way over 60fps, I think it might be that I’m using a 43” Entry level UHD tv, so far decent enough, but I have a gripe with the car selection models, just coming from ACC, these models look pretty ancient but I guess it’s the engine they are using. Will def be looking forward to your next video
ً ً it can be. But some wheels (and yes, certain cars) require some tweaking. And that little bit of tweaking can make a huge difference in immersion and enjoyment
Daniel Findley that’s interesting. I tried it with my own T300 and I had excellent FFB. I was surprised at how good it was, actually. When you say 100/100/0, are you referring to gain, FX, and LFB in that order?
Daniel Findley turn it down? I’ve t300 as well, no way I’d do 100 anything on AMS2, clip city, 50/50/50 tune from there. AC is different I can go higher ffb.
It breaks my eyes when I see people with an adequate fov, adequate monitor distance and they run with their hands and virtual steering wheel. Destroy the dive.
The fact this looks exactly like pc2 makes me hate already. PC2 physics and FBB sucks! I tried so many settings and still sucked. The only youtuber who hade this same opinion is Jimmy Broadbent, so honestly, im glad someone had the same opinion, its a shame they did this game over pc2 instead of doing on rf2
Gabriel Lago while it’s not perfect and has issues the physics certainly aren’t like pCars 2, I did direct comparisons of the same class or similar cars and the AMS2 cars were significantly better physics wise and the FFB wasn’t even comparable. Some cars need more work and are quite average I won’t disagree but the cars Reiza has put more time into are fantastic, the sim just needs time, just like rF2 which has taken more than 5 years to come close to the potential it promised.
Jimmy tried an unfinished car, so that isn't representative either. There's a lot of work that needs to be done, but the cars that are close to being finished are way ahead of PC2.

I'm struggling to figure what setting to use with my Logitech G27.
Not sure what to set in the Logitech Profiler.
Thanks mike 👏👏👏👏👏
@@SimRacing604 Thanks appreciate that. Do you know when the ARX-01 dates from then?
@@oktc68 it seems like it competed from ‘07 to ‘11
@@SimRacing604 thank you. I did try Googling it, but drew a blank. Greatly appreciated.
Have you figured out server options. As in to create one to invite friends to race in?
I tired but seems like a need an admin on server to activate it?
Fanatec DD1 User here: i got the low force boost around 5-10 because it lets me feel smaller vibrations better.
Markus Ruhland Accuforce here, 12 for me
Can you adjust the FX and Vol on the fly, in game like that other title that we’re not supposed to compare to AMS2? It’s really helpful when there isn’t a per car ffb adjustment available.
Mike, any chance you could share your Accuforce FFB settings as well as your SC4 settings along with the car and track combination you enjoy most?
Brent Osterstock yes! Absolutely. I’m not running SC4 with AMS2 right now, but I’m going to set it up later today. I’ll probably just post my settings in the description to this video, so check back in a day or two
@@SimRacing604 Will do.
Excellent video and very informative, may I ask what your graphics settings are?
My wheel doesnt lock if I have high ffb ☹
Low force boost = minimum force?
Isn’t it fine as is mike604? I guess it depends on the cars
ً ً it can be. But some wheels (and yes, certain cars) require some tweaking. And that little bit of tweaking can make a huge difference in immersion and enjoyment
shouldnt fanatec users follow the recomended settings from their website?
I have my T300 set at 100 Gain, 100 LFB, & 0 FX and I'm feeling almost nothing when I drive. 😔 I have zero problems with ACC, AC, or PC2.
Daniel Findley that’s interesting. I tried it with my own T300 and I had excellent FFB. I was surprised at how good it was, actually. When you say 100/100/0, are you referring to gain, FX, and LFB in that order?
Probably because your clipping at 100/100!well it would on my CSWv2.
@@2ndLastJedi I slowly increased it from 25 to 100 I don't feel anything at all until I get to around 80+.
@@SimRacing604 100 gain, 100 LFB, 0 FX
Daniel Findley turn it down? I’ve t300 as well, no way I’d do 100 anything on AMS2, clip city, 50/50/50 tune from there. AC is different I can go higher ffb.
It breaks my eyes when I see people with an adequate fov, adequate monitor distance and they run with their hands and virtual steering wheel. Destroy the dive.
Some how it appears to confilct with official recommendation...... redo this video?
@jimmybroadbent should do another video there’s been so many changes
