The inclusion of Clockwork Orange is made even more disrespectfully ironic because the author of the original novel hated the film for the liberties it took with his work, especially the ending. But of course, rely on Warner Brothers executives to not even consider such.

TLJ was disappointing and full of wasted potential (especially since the questions raised in The Force Awakens (aside from the fate of Rey's parents, before TRoS retconned it) remained unanswered), but at least it had several redeeming moments, spawned countless memes, and it sparked the popularity of Kylo Ren (despite, or possible even because of, his embarrassing display in the finale, where he ruins his one chance to crush the Resistance over his petty grudge against Luke).

Lebron should've been buddies with Marvin, they wouldve had better chemistry as both characters are being portrayed as the "villain" of the people they know and therefore must save the world together and prove to everyone there's some good in them!

I think the beginning of the end was probably the first block buster. Before that, movies were just a neat thing people went to see sometimes. And from that point on, Hollywood has been on an eternal quest, not to recreate that same magic, but rather, to get to that point as quickly and easily as possible with the least amount of risks. Because these here investors don't like risks.
It's been a gradual decline and it's only going to get worse.

Something that tried to be magic. Investors, on the other hand, are a bunch of louts with cash who have no idea how the business works and demanding to run the business. "Oh, so my money's good enough for you, but my ideas aren't?" Investors think they because they throw money at a business that they should be part of running the business. Ready Player One was better than this - and even that still wasn't good. It had plot going on, you at least knew the characters to a degree, and there were reasons that those things existed there.
Space Jam 2 was just - look at all these OTHER movies we made that you could be watching instead.
I got that sometimes in RPO but, there was a bit more, and it felt less convoluted. Space Jam 2, I wouldn't see again, but if you gave me some popcorn and alcohol, I'd probably be willing to sit and watch RPO again.
It's not much at all, of course, but a popcorn movie is a popcorn movie, and Space Jam couldn't even manage that. The only thing was, I wanted to see how it ended, because on the day we watched it, we had to pick someone up from work. We were gonna stop, but at that point we were literally almost at the end and had such little time to do anything else, it was like, "we've gotten this far, might as well"
And we were just waiting for Space Jam to play - one of us was a little too optimistic thinking it would play in the last stretch.
The rest of us figured it would be in the credits, and then it wasn't. Not even a remix. So we left mad, knowing that we had wasted our time.
That was literally the only potentially redeeming thing for it. And they didn't do it. I would have probably even been more neutral towards the whole thing, if they had, just "wasn't good, wasn't terrible, had some funny moments, but I won't watch it again. Like a solid 2/10."
Not putting the title song in SPACE JAM 2 is a straight up crime. 0/10. The disrespect is was there, but that is - astounding.

    • @justasleebylilguylittlesle1496
      @justasleebylilguylittlesle1496 3 года назад +2

My reason for 2/10 in the original assessment goes entirely to the jokes. Self awareness, and Micheal B Jordan instead of Micheal A Jordan gets a point from me. Friend of mine that Micheal B was disrespectful, but honestly - I'd have thought it more disrespectful if they dragged Micheal A back into this mess. It was just a funny pun, in my opinion. I liked it, but no one else has to. That's my 1 point.
Point 2 goes for the classic Looney Tunes gags. I originally wrote 3/10, but decided to take away a point when I remembered that they never included Speedy in the game, who is canonically faster than Road Runner.
He had a good starting bit, then got left on the bench the whole game.

You know, for a movie that featured the Looney Tunes, they barely had any impact to the overall plot. You could have had any other characters from Warner Bros seemingly endless library of movie and television franchises and it wouldn’t make too much of a difference to the plot. The only reason why they were put into this movie at all was solely to feed off the success of the first Space Jam. Chuck Jones, one of many lead animators of the Looney Tunes, made it clear from an interview that he wasn’t a fan of how the Looney Tunes were portrayed in the first Space Jam, so I can only imagine how he would react if he had lived long enough to see this train wreck of a film being shown in theaters.

I reckon whoever was writing the scene with Lebron trying to explain the stakes to his son, they were up late and dog tired and actually couldn't think of anything, so they wrote "I don't know what to do!" intending to finish it properly the next day. But then the courier arrived to collect that part of the script before they had time to fix it.

I love you for including that "Endless Trash!"-sequence.
edit: The reason why Granny did so many Matrix jokes … well, there is a new Matrix movie in the making. Furthermore, why is James' son not thinking badly about Al g-rhythm? To influence little kids not to be worried about current cancer like the algorithm on the internet.
Jesus christ, what a garbage movie.

This movie was a new legacy...and not in a good way. Most of LeBron's acting wasn't believable; the 2D animation looked like there wasn't much effort put into it , so I guess most work went to the CGI animation; the movie needed a much better pacing, so there wasn't any time for much needed character development; there needed to have more adult humor; there were other Looney Tunes that should have been on the team, plus, those who were on the team didn't get nearly enough attention or lines; the Goon Squad should have been comprised of more upgraded avatars of professional basketball players. The ending was also not good. This project wasn't very grounded, and the story felt like it was all over the place. And no, I am not a fan of the redesign of Lola Bunny, as well as them getting rid of Pepé Le Pew. Why is the world do people these days believe that a woman can only be strong if she isn't attractive or sexy? Why do they think that cartoon women shouldn't have breasts or curves (which only makes them resemble a very feminine man)? I seriously fail to see how any of this isn't shaming! And Pepé has done nothing wrong, he's simply a hopeless romantic who comes on too strong. And instead of modernizing him to learn from his mistakes, they just throw him away. The only true descent actor in the movie was Don Cheadle as Al-G Rhythm. However, he definitely needed to be more menacing. There was also no chemistry between Bugs and Lola throughout the movie.
The short version: they should have kept Lola's original design; use Marvin the Martian as the referee (again); kept Pepé Le Pew, as well as Penelope Pussycat, and gotten rid of Granny; and had someone else direct this. This was a project that was definitely all about the appearance and not the story. It really makes you appreciate the original much more.

I actually thought "AL G Rhythm" was meant to be a reference to "Ali G", the character played by Sacha Baron Cohen, and whom Don Cheadle is a big fan of.

This movie is all over the place when it comes to identity, like you mentioned does the movie want to be a sequel or a reboot. Does it want to target a younger audience who never seen the first one let alone don't even know it existed, or is it nostalgia baiting grownups. They 'say' it's meant for kids but weirdly enough 90% of all references in the movie are directed to adults, kids wouldn't even understand the majority of them. It makes absolutely no sense at all.
It's so mixed (read: messed) up.
