- Come one, come all.... GaMetal takes on the Circus Battle theme from the Sega Genesis classic Shining Force!
So, real talk, I've never been much into Tactical RPGs, like Fire Emblem, but there is one (and only one) that I thoroughly enjoyed and played all the way through: Shining Force.
If you like classic TRPGs, I highly suggest you give the Shining Force games a try. There's a bunch of 'em, too.

I'm very busy right now and don't have time to work on my music, but I'd like to make a video commentary on Shining Force music available on RUclips someday.
At that time, I'd like to release the original MIDI data and listen to your new performances, and I'd like to do a competition.
@@brainbrown I'd love to see your commentary whenever you have the time! And if there's enough people willing I'm sure it'd be a great competition as well. There are a lot of great fan tracks and covers out there. RUclips has been a surprising platform for that. And for letting the original creators see that fan creativity and tributes to their work as well!

Yeah, this is the first battle where you got to use Arthur if you recruited him, and where you find out that he's literally Magikarp. Using the Power Ring's boost effect on him (hopefully you got it in the previous fight!) is mandatory.

Honestly, any fan of tactical RPGs who hasn't played this game needs to pick it up. Shining Force and its sequel are on Steam for two dollars each, and you'd be a fool not to pick them up!

I like shining force 1 better than 2 but 2 was great too
My main issue is that any critical review will praise the second and disown the first, as if it's not worth playing. Which is where my jokey snide remark came from.
My personal opinion is that the second one lacks story and character in comparison to the first, and is quite trite, if you can believe it. This is despite the fact that the first includes time travel, destiny, and brotherhood troupes. Honestly, I couldn't find the characters endearing nor did I care about the opening sequence in Shining Force 2. I wanted a continuation, not a new journey.
@@Reapehify I can totally understand that. Both stories are pretty campy these days, but 1's is definitely better and there's no way in 2 (that I can find, at least) to interact with characters like you could in 1. I consider the gameplay between the two fairly equal, and that's all I've ever cared about when it comes to these games.
Than you for recognizing one of the most underrated and under recognized tactics rpgs of all time, this game singlehandedly introduces me to the rpg genre. And what an amazing song to choose from that game. It was always my favorite battle for the music alone, no matter how hard that battle Seemed to me when I originally played it.... thank you

Shining Force is the first video game I ever played, and it's remained one of my favorites. I still go back to replay it now and then and enjoy it for a mix of nostalgia and just good fun to be had from it. I know it's not a well-known game, so I've never expected new covers or remixes or anything. This made my day

First Off, I KNOW that ending image, it's Comix Zone! :D
Also because it's Comix Zone, I'd like to advocate for either Toxic Dump from The Ooze (also a Genesis game, from the same devs as Comix Zone), OR Warcraft 2's Human and/or Orc 2nd track (they apparently don't have names I guess).
Oh I played The Ooze back on the Sonic Mega Collection. Very interesting game, very difficult. I never finished it because I ended up permanently missing one of the DNA Helix collectables in Stage 4 and kinda didn't want to continue or restart.
One of my favorite tracks, haven't looked for a new version/cover of it in years so I was pleasantly surprised to find this one. Awesome arrangement!

This is fucking awesome, and not just because "Shining Force" and SF2 are two of my favorite Sega Genesis games (I'd even rank them as two of my all-time favorites) and I happen to be currently playing through SF1 right now, but I also REALLY dig your musicianship. I mean, there were moments there where you were really. fuckin. shredding.

If you can get a unit up to the back of the main stage after beating the Dark Clowns, there's a chest with the Steel Arrow in it. That should help Hans stay relevant. You'll also want to play with using the Power Ring, especially if you decided to recruit Arthur.

Arguably the best battle song in the game I think, I adore the original Shining Force! I can still remember my best friend and I spending days trading the controller back and forth with this game and the sequel on SEGA Channel.

OMG is that Sketch Turner from Comix Zone in the Challenger Approaching Silhoutte? That's super hype. I've never thought a game like Comix Zone would get any remixes. I hope it's Episode 3, Page 1-3 although I don't think it's the most popular song from that game.
