LITERALLY We have all been begging for this for so long and finally we can all suffer less especially those of us who already take aeons to make decisions for our Sims and then have to flip back-and-forth to make sure that we put everything the way that we want it to be on every outfit
The jealousy triggers are great for poly sims or open relationships! 💛 Those locs have the most creative design I have ever seen in gaming! If games bother to put them in at all, it's usually the same bland styles.
the hidden relationships has me wanting a landgraabs & johnny zest update so bad! give him a hidden bad relationship with his parents and brother EA i am begging
IRL Nail Technician here and I gotta say the new nail options are fantastic! We've needed more nail colours for a while now if for no other reason than making it so each skin tone of Sim can have their perfect "nude colour" nail look. Also love that they did at least 2 versions of the simple nails, super short and short with a tiny bit of free edge. The longer ones are fantastic and I love the french tip options! Those were seriously lacking. Edit: that apply all feature is so key for nails especially because as a Nail Tech who wears fake nails on the daily and has since 2013, you don't take your nails off to go work out for example and then put them back on when you're done at the gym, your nails stay on 24/7, so this adds ease of use for CAS but it's a layer of realism to always have nails on.
I was shocked when I saw the extra hairs too, I had to go to my actual game to make sure lol. I like the new hairs especially that kids and toddlers got a few of them
This is a really great walkthrough and has me so excited for Tuesday’s update! The Sims team needs to collaborate with Kijiko and bring their lashes into the Base Game ASAP!
finally, my children can have short hair that will not look awkward because I know I hated having my hair down all the damn time and I’m glad to see tots are getting hairs as well I remember pulling my little ones hair up in that type of ponytail when her hair was just long enough to do that
I think I’m most happy to have the ability to copy accessories to other outfits. It is so aggravating to have to find the same pair of glasses over and over again
16:51 WOAH this is like one of the best things ever especially for legacy challenge players who have a bajillion Sim relationships and just wanna hide all the bads and the deads (I'm thinking about how useful this would be in particular for the 100 baby challenge because instead of having to scroll to find the next baby parent every time you can just hide them once you've had a baby with them)
Thanks for going over the hairstyles, I knew about the locs but not the others. I also didn't see anyone else mention the added nails we're getting. So excited for that.
No problem, I had to go back and forth from my early access to my original game to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I'm glad they added in new hairs and the nails too.
yess, i love the copying in cas.. i put a bunch of makeup, eyelashes, piercings, jewelery and other stuff on my sims... this is a lifesaver for me, it'll save me from so much stress and time
If they added spouse and partner, I agree that would have been more inclusive. They could have left the common labels of husband/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend for those of us who are only comfortable using those terms, but now we have to manually add a new label to negate the generic one. Kind of annoying, but oh well.
Wait wait wait… you can have an above ground pool? That’s new too, right? I swear I’ve tried that before and generally had to fake it with a second story pool… I was already looking forward to round pools but being able to have them above ground is even better 😁
I believe we've always had the ability to do when we got pools added in in 2014 since walls can have a foundation I guess could too. Above ground pools are cool looking you could put plants around it or a grill/picnic table. I can't wait to make another community pool
Question: Are edges more cultural like locs and braids or are they able to be used on anyone? Bc I'm never sure since I've heard different things and I wanna ensure I'm giving proper representation! ❤️❤️
It's your Sims ... Why do you care what your Sims look like to others? I'm black and I truly don't understand why non black simmers want to "properly represent' anyone. It destroys the whole point of Sims.
@@froxfro4589 Well as someone who unfortunately didn't grow up in an area where I was educated well on other races and cultures and knowing that this is a life Sim which means people are trying to create themselves or people they know in someway in this game then I look at the Sims as being people therefore wanting them to follow certain standards like not culturally appropriating anything like I'm not going to give dreadlocks to a white Sim, it's not about me caring what my Sims look like to others it's about me caring about having cultural diversity presented without appropriation of any kind because I am making people
@@jasmineperry7398 understandable..that's totally fine, as long as you're enjoying yourself. Some feel they're doing some sort of justice. It'll be cool, however they look. Too many options to not experiment 🧪
is anyone else upset by the changes to relationship terminology? It's actually less inclusive now. In the real world it's been a massive fight to get marriage equality (still not there) and now a male Sim couple can't call each other husband? Similarly for trans equality it's kind of offensive to me that a trans woman is a partner rather than a girlfriend or sibling rather than sister when in the real world she will have gone through a lot to be recognised as her correct gender. Gender still matters to a lot of people and removing the opportunity to recognise that is not inclusive. In the UK while the government were too cowardly to offer same sex marriage they introduced civil partnerships (not quite the same legally as marriages but close). Now, same sex marriage is available, partnerships and partners are seen as second class to marriages and husbands or wives. It really matters what you call yourself, your spouse and your family members. If The Sims cared about inclusion they would add options rather than taking them away.
I fully agree with what you're saying here, gender still matter so I'm really not sure why they changed the terminology of the relationships for base game. I do know in the new expansion pack, there is a new option in the relationship panel that allows you to create custom relationships with any sim, so if you wanted to still keep the term husband or girlfriend for your sim you could. But I do understand what you're saying, I hope the sims team explains more about the terminology
With the way gender works in the sims 4, adding new terms wouldn't really work. It's better to be neutral. "Spouse" is inclusive to everyone, because it's non-specific, even though it's less than ideal. Specificity would be great, but in this game, at this point, I don't think it's really workable. And you can edit relationship labels in the game to change it. Neutrality is just the default.
@@bigawesomewatermelon9511 yeah I get that. It's great to have the neutral "spouse" for a general term e.g. in the soulmate aspiration it refers to spouse. But I don't like it in CAS where you're naming a relationship between specific Sims.
@@Rosalind_Jane I UNDERSTAND THAT. That's NOT what I was saying AT ALL. Some of our Sims NEED the neutral. With the way gender WORKS in the game, it WOULDN'T WORK as well to have neutral language as a third option. THAT'S what I was saying. But good job reading TWO WORDS and then deciding I said something completely obvious that was NOWHERE CLOSE to what I was saying.
Yes, exactly! And as a straight woman, I would never use "partner" to define a romantic relationship. My boyfriend, who has been living with me since 2002, will always and forever be referred to as my boyfriend. Partner just sounds like we're in business together. Now, I'm forced to add a custom label to correct the dozens of relationships that currently exist in my game. I don't know why they couldn't have simply added spouse and partner as options, which would have demonstrated true inclusivity.
@@bigawesomewatermelon9511 I've been playing for over 10 years. It's an ongoing thing of Sims removing things that were fine the way they were. If you have husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend AND the option to pick "romantic partner" that would be more inclusive. Because now the simmers whom enjoyed those traditional labels, can't enjoy.
@@froxfro4589 I am aware, and I have been playing this game for almost as long. But what you said doesn't change literally anything. My Sims being misgendered by the game was not "FiNe ThE wAy ThEy ArE." Neutral terms INCLUDE everyone. That's the point of them. Gender-specific terms should be the second option, not the default. Clarifying specificity should be the players' doing.
I have this because I early access to the base game update so that's why I'm able to show this off. The update doesn't come out until next week on July 23rd
I'm sick of all you whiners in the comments complaining about the neutral language. You won't die. Neutral language includes everybody, AND you can still add the custom label in-game. Everything is always gendered, let the people who prefer neutral terminology be represented for once. 🙄
Aren't they put in that in payroll? To do the husband and fiance thing? I just don't understand partner for neutral it just feel weird to me. Partner I would consider to me has just a friend.
This might sound ridiculous, but it made me so happy to see asexual pride nails since a lot of people don't really think of asexual as being queer. It makes me feel so happy and included 🖤🩶🤍💜
