Foles killed his confidence and injuries killed his ability to play hero ball. Wentz was the MVP in his second year before he got hurt, he has a CANNON for an arm. Him seeing that statue of Foles everyday was soul crushing.
Great video, glad it showed up in my feed! Want to share my story, this is 100% true: I used to work in a CVS he lived by and he'd visit plus his other family members as well. His family were all very friendly in the interactions I had with them at the register. But my lone interaction with him was quite memorable. So one night in summer after the Super Bowl season, he comes in late and it's just me and him at the register. He was still hurt so I think there was uncertainty he'd play the first few games. I asked him if he'd be ready. He says he's just doing what the doctors say. So I say that I know about that because I was really sick during the season and SB run and thanked him for his great season and the Eagles getting me through. So he asks if he can pray for me, I say yes, and right there he leans over the counter, puts his hand on my shoulder and says a legit 2 minute long prayer. It was the best interaction I'd had with any customer in all my time there. Not long after that, I was working in a college. A few weekends his food truck company supplied free food to students and staff. Thy Kingdom Crumb. Truly a great guy, wish his career had gone a bit different and he had greater success. But he truly is a success off the field!
Carson Wentz has always been hated by the media. He made so many great plays in his career but they always bring up the bad ones. All qbs make stupid plays but they can get away with it. Not Carson. Hope he can be starter someday before his career ends.
@@AlexRosner-v8t he was never given the opportunity you friggin doofus!!! Howie ripped his chance away from him in 2018 and shut him down when he wasn't hurt...
Obviously I’m really happy Philly picked Hurts. But the front office so obviously gave up on Wentz for no reason. After a year that he had no wide receiver with over 500 yards, a broken o-line that broke records in how many combinations they started in because of injuries, and he STILL got them to the playoffs, the front office drafts his replacement in the 2nd round??
Shit...if Howie just gave him one quality outside target...Howie failed him and he got fed up with it...can't blame him for wanting a different opportunity.

He always pointed the finger at himself. And yes at times it was him at fault but not all the time. I agree to, he's only had 1 bad season with the eagles. Eagles fans seem to forget that 2019 season. And they expected Wentz to be successful with greg ward and jj arcega whiteside and fulgam ect. I do think the eagles failed him . Wentz also did a lot for the community of Philadelphia to. Eagles fans are so quick to forget. But Damm i miss Carson wentz lòl. I hope he succeds wherever he goes. I fully believe that injure plus foles winning the Super Bowl/ MVP really ruined wentz, that caused the split in the locker room and with fans and then he gets injured for the next 2 playoffs which put him in question with longevity which caused howie to draft hurts. Wentz definitely played differently after his 2017 MVP injury and looked waay slimmer then he did pre 2017 injury and I remember in 2019 dude have 4000 passing yards with a bunch of scrubs at wr with the best being Greg Ward. Dude has such a huge ceiling but for sum reason cant get 0:08 it together and with the league changing to expect qbs to ball out on their rookie contracts, dude lost his opportunity to be a starting nfl qb.
Yeah I fully agree! It sucks some freak injuries seemed to derail his career and mentally he just couldn’t recover from it. The league changed at the wrong time for him
I'm also an eagles fan, and I love the positivity, I think he gets too much hate overall. But, he was not amazing when he played for the eagles. 2019 was a fun season and he played overall pretty well, but he was frustratingly inaccurate from the pocket. Those mechanical issues were always gonna hold him back, and the "highlight reel" plays were only gonna get fewer and fewer in number, which is exactly what happened in 2020. Also kinda weird to credit him for helping us rebuild the team. He definitely wanted to play for himself, not good will to the eagles
Man I’m so glad that you made this video. I agree with every one of your points. The stars just did not align for Carson. I’ll never complain about having a Super Bowl ring but I’ve said it before (and people thought I was crazy) that we essentially sold our soul and broke our franchise QB in the process. Have to remember that Wentz was, what, 23-24 in 2017? Picture yourself at that age having an absolute banger of a year, everyone saying you’re the MVP favorite, that you’re the best QB in the league etc etc and then it all gets taken away in a Rams game (oh and btw he was BALLING in that game, too, which is prob the most ironic part). Then you see your backup put together two of the best playoff performances in history to bring it home (people with midnight green glasses seem to forget that we almost lost to the Falcons and Foles stunk that game). The Rams shattered his leg. Foles’ lightning in a bottle playoff run combined with media scrutiny shattered his confidence. Clowney hit shattered his soul. And then our front office gave him nothing. Could have had one of DK Metcalf or Justin Jefferson. Let that sink in. Hurts was just the final nail and I have never blamed him for wanting out. I never bought into the locker room cancer crap. I think all that was planted to help explain away the plan for his departure. And make no mistake - they planned on his departure the moment they drafted Hurts. Yeah, he signed a massive deal but Howie is a magician with contracts so he hedged his bet. All that is in the past and I’m happy with where we are now - but I’ll say this last thing. I don’t think Hurts is better in terms of raw talent (well, maybe now, but that is age). He would have never done what Wentz did in 2019, and he has an absolute unit of superstars surrounding him.
Perfect points and I appreciate the love! The fact this man was throwing to Greg Ward and Jordan Matthew’s when Hurts has AJB/Smitty/Saquon now? Night and day. It sucks to say that I wouldn’t take it back because that Super Bowl means more than anything, but just sucks to see someone with the potential of Carson Wentz go down in that type of fashion.
You basically nailed all of this! The front office never had his back and that trickled down to the players and ultimately his coach. Howie and Doug stabbed him in the back and the players saw that and thought it was acceptable. And you're right, people forget how young he was...he would hardly be the first immature QB in his first 2-3 years...Philip Rivers, anyone???? Then when you add in the total incompetence to surround him with anyone with any talent and voila, you get what you get. Alshon had talent, but he was near the end and the reports of his work ethic go back to him playing at SC. The locker room cancer stuff was all crap and any player that spoke on the record said as much...Joe Santoloquito was a hack and he tried the same playbook recently on Hurts. He has a narrative and he will search until he finds one anonymous source to fit his narrative...hack! Hurts is nowhere near the talent Wentz was and I would argue Wentz is still more talented right now. I don't see Hurts every getting another opportunity when he eventually washes out as an Eagle. Hurts' 2nd best season (last year) still wasn't as good as Wentz was in 2017, 2018, 2019, or 2021 with the Colts. The fact that Jalen Hurts still can't throw for more yards than Carson did in 2019 with an extra game, AJB, Devonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert is an indictment of how limited Jalen is as a QB. Wendell Smallwood Mack Hollins Donnel Pumphrey Shelton Gibson Dallas Goedert Miles Sanders JJ Arcega-Whiteside Jalen Reagor John Hightower Quez Watkins That's the list of skill players Howie drafted for Wentz to work with in his time in Philly. The only player on there that is even average is Goedert, and he couldn't really help Carson anyway because he was blocked by Ertz on the depth chart. Sanders had his most productive year as a rookie with Wentz because he opens up running room. Jonathan Taylor also had far and away his best year with Wentz at QB. Why? Because he could throw the top off of any defense in the league.
3:45, then the Eagles moved on from the QB that brought them to the Super Bowl and gave Wentz a contract extension. I hate to say it but he was seeing ghosts out there, hence why he is a backup now
