All caravan manufacturers are struggling to get their products out so it's not the swift causing the issue. As far as the ute is concerned, we experienced the rear end crack on both sides of our Triton and before you say they are known for that, so was the BT50 parked up beside our Triton at Katherine wreckers and a Ram which cracked going across the Simpson desert. All of these modern utes have issues and because of that we will never own a 4WD ute again or at least till they prove they've fixed their problems. We've now gone back to a wagon in the form of a Prado. Good luck with getting everything organised and keep an eye on that new vehicle for potential crack issues
Thanks Debbie, this issue has also put me off another midsize 4x4 ute. Haven't heard of the land cruisers cracking - but ill certainly do my research beforehand!
@@WildTouring Hilux we've seen and my husband has seen a LandCruiser ute cracked. What a lot of North Qld station owners and mining companies are doing is before their Toyotas hit the dirt they have the risk areas strengthened. Perhaps this is something you could look into before you start any trips. I believe a company in Townsville does it. Ours broke slowly driving over the Edith Falls railway line. We didn't have airbags and the car, caravan and ball weight we're all well under maximum weight. To say it broke our hearts was an understatement.

Don’t think Swift stove issue would hold up the production line. Caravan makers are under the pump with all the build’s and struggling to get staff and materials. I am one of the lucky ones living in Melbourne, It took me 5 minutes to remove my swift oven and stove unit and take it to Swift in Melbourne they had it for 2 hours to do the recall checks and fit a safe for use sticker. 👍
There is a line of thought that the front body mounts can be an issue that cause the cracking. They tend to wear and crack quite quickly. Also a poorly fitted Bull Bar could impact on the body causing cracking.
Brings back memories of the GQ Patrols cracking all through the engine bay's but only after many many thousands of ks on dirt. The Y62 is a weapon but the fuel usage is a problem despite what everyone says. Big van boat headwind and you'll be begging for that D/max back.
Good luck with the guards on the Dmax. We have several in our project fleet and everyone of them has done the same thing. We only order Hiluxes whenever possible.
Cheers mate. It’s really disappointing. They’re a solid motor and transmission, but everything else about them feels pretty cheap. They all have their issues though- similar class action with DPF failure from Toyota!
Thanks for keeping it real. We like that you are a down to earth family sharing with us your experiences exploring Australia. Also, walking us through your decision making process . Hope bub and rest of the family are doing well.
Thanks for sharing your information on the problems with Isuzu MUX and DMax. We have a 2017 MUX and I will be looking under my bonnet tomorrow, thanks for showing us where to look for the effected areas. We also have a caravan with a Swift stove fitted and now can’t use that lol! What a calamity of errors. Cheers 🍻
Wayne, ppl on the road are using them and turning them on and off as needed. What else can they do when its their homes. We will also be looking for cracks in our 2018
I know I’m late to the party, but I’m a panel beater who has done a few of these dmax’s under warranty as you said it’s a known issue, dash yes had to come out but motor can stay in, there is a fix on the new skirts similar to what you have had done there is a plate on the back of the skirt, and Isuzu did change it on them (can’t remember what year model comes with it form new). hit me up if you want to see some pictures of what it looks like mid repairs @WildTouring
Totally understand the dilemma with choice of tow vehicle, we went through the same thing. 79 was the only choice we could come up with that would suit our needs with some very heavy modifications to bring it up to the payload we wanted for full time travel. But could not justify the price and mods. We ended up buying a Isuzu NPS 4x4 super singles dual cab truck with a big canopy on the back. It is fully setup with lithium batteries, solar and truck based camping. We also tow a van. The cost worked out much the same as what we would have had to pay for the 79 but with a lot bigger payload, no stress to the vehicle no weight issues and still capable of 4x4 tracks. Maybe something to bring into your equations, they are becoming a popular choice for towing. Good luck with your choice. 😊
Great to hear from both of you, there's a lot packed into this update. I've also been keeping by eye on the 70 series, it looks like it's going to be even header to get a new one in the future. Sounds like there's lots of interesting content to come over the next few months. Cheers! 👍
Cheers Andrew. Yes I've heard that they're suspending orders. Be interesting to see what happens with outstanding orders and the price of the second hand market!
May be worth checking the mounting of the bullbar, I've seen a similar result after a bullbar was fitted and the vehicle was taken on rough roads, prior to the bullbar fitting it had no problems in that area.
bullbar is part of the chasis not the body work......how ever if you dont leave a sufficient gap from bullbar to body it can hit when it flexes. Also dmax come with OEM bullbars
My wife and myself had the same problem, we bought a new Nissan navara stx an put a few extra on it we have 8000 klms now, I have had 4 of road vehicles before and I am extremely happy with the utility. Caravan we have a red centre Kimberley an it pulls it great .
Thanks for the catch-up video with a few important points of information. I also have a DMax, the new model. I think the Willow caravan is a good choice and such a short wait time.
Good idea on the Landcruiser order! Repair job looks sweet too! Just had DpF issues on me new dmax too...had to get towed and system update and Isuzu cleaned it out as it was totally blocked at 30k km!
You are bang on with the stated Tare weights on Vans. We’ve had three vans and they were all understated on Tare, so payload was also vastly reduced. I had to get ATM re-engineered on last 2 vans to make them useable on longer trips. Hope this doesn’t affect you guys but be prepared. Self regulated industry, which speaks for itself really. Love your content guys. Cheers, Trevor & Karen
Hi Cam & Tilly - I’ve also noticed that these models also have cracks forming in the chassis structure rails supporting the engine - I’ve done a lot of research and found Toyota to be the first choice on my list - Ford/Mazda BT50 had transmission issues (no transmission cooler), Tritons spend a lot of time in the workshop, VW have issues - as mentioned before I acquired a pre-DPF 2010 Hilux Diesel Auto dual cab which I bought just before Covid Feb 2020 - no issues at all - daily driver/tourer/housekeeping- good luck with your solution- John
Great video, you guys are 1 of the few who are honest and straight down the line and just real, have stopped following a few channels as over the advertorials and pushing their own bullshit, keep up the great work and great to see Tiff back
I think a 70 is actually a pretty good option Cam. No doubt you’re paying for the badge but considering the number of them on the road and in commercial and industrial use I don’t think you can go wrong. Might be better options for comfort etc but there wouldn’t be too many stronger drivelines IMO.
The drivelines aren't strong lol. 5th gear is weak as, the clutches are next to useless. They burn through swivel hubs, the rear axle is a very well known failure point when towing. Yes there are fixes for all this but it costs an absolute fortune and as a standard vehicle they're terrible. that's before you get into all the other issues that need fixing out of the box. Be prepared to drop a minimum of $10k straight away. $20 if you actually want to do a proper job
G'day Cam n Tiff. Sad to hear the Dmax is in trouble after you poured so much time, money and thought into her. Whilst i love the 79 series and am lucky enough to have access to one if I ever need it. I thought you may be interested in the comparison I've got for you. I have a 2011 Amarok plus access to a 2014 79 GXL Dual Cab with suspension upgrades n air bags. Pros of the 79, the v8 burble, torque central, I have never had an issue with the track difference off road through heavy sand or towing. Driving it throughout Australia including rurally you can get parts anywhere, As long as you don't expect a race car you will have no issues. Even with the standard front seats (which many people complain about) I reckon they are fine for long trips, maybe 17 years as a truck driver has adjusted what is survivable. Resale value. The cons now - for the money you get next to no tricks/tech. They are tiny inside especially the back seat, I have 3 teenage children who in the back of the cruiser are shoulder to shoulder whilst in the Rok there is room between them. Believe it or not the Amarok is actually wider and longer and more comfortable for all passengers. Climbing down from my soap box, I can't wait for the journey as you will bring us all along for the ride. Cheers
Love your content and straight forward honesty … keep it that way and win friends not hanger ons. Like all of us you ( and me) are trying to fit in a mini what should be going onto a Mack truck and it causes problems. I know I’ve had a rethink and discarded some things that where more of a want than a need, back to basics a bit if you like. I see all these builds with induction cookers, hot water heaters with showers, coffee machines, ovens etc etc. and just think why ?? Upgrade a build by thousands of $$$ so they can have a chia latte and cook a toasted camembert cheese sandwich in 30 sec. 😀😀 I’ve even gone away from a gas cooker and bottles to a small butane stove, much lighter and space saving, we use a fire most of the time to cook anyway, bit like All4 Adventure do. If you sign away your life to a 79 that won’t be the answer either. Good luck with what ever you go with. PS Have heard that as of 5pm yesterday ( 29th) Toyota are taking no more orders for cruisers of any type.
Cheers Merv. Different strokes for different folks I guess! We're just going to do what we feel is right for us and our situation at the time! Yeah heard about the suspension on orders, interesting times!
This is one of the reasons l offliaded my Mux at 40k. The other issues are dodgy turbos and sat navs. There is in fact a class action related to these issues, so you may wish to look into it.
As a 2019 Dmax owner, I to have been keeping and eye on the cracking areas,, so far so good. I hear you re van delays, order our Starcraft from Caravanland Aug 2021, due Aug 22 then Sept 22 Now looks like leaving factory Oct 22 so fingers crossed we get it Nov 22... on the up side they have honored the sign up price ( 2 price increases since we signed)
Great to hear that they're honouring the price, have heard others waiting on Jayco have not been so lucky! Sounds like you're just about at the end of your wait. Enjoy your travels in the new van!
😲 Bugger about the delay in the van, and the Dmax issues. Good idea to have a back up plan with the 79 series. Yeeah can appear to be over priced. But depends on how you look at it. Yep they are basic. But they will more than likely outlast most other utes by 10 to 20 years. So a different perspective. Love the chats you guys do. Love your salt of the earth genuine approach to life. Look forwars to the next vids...
Hi Cam and Tiff, I believe the cost of used 4x4's will come down...bit like house prices now interest rates are rising! I imagine there will be someone else's loss, will be someone elses gain. I would still look at a 200! I changed from a Dual Cab ute to a 200. Just towing what a difference and I don't lug a big van or anything. Everything just felt SOLID. I don't normally do tag a longs but went on one a couple of years ago for a weekend. The tour leader turned to me after seeing a number of the Isuzu's, BT 50's, Colorado's hammering up this particular hill and he said....I'd hate to be the owner of these vehicles in 5 - 10 years time. They are just not built to handle this. I laughed it off at the time and since going on another trip with him in my 200, I now know exactly what he was referring to. The Cruiser (and every other bigger 4x4) just crawled up hills between 1200 - 1500 RMS whilst the 4 cyl 4x4's were pushing 3000 - 4000 revs. Good to see Tiff back on the vids as well
Cam and Tiff if you do decide that you need to change your vehicle have a look at an NPS 75/155 Duel cab will solve all your weight problems and you can basically carry any thing you want also no burner, no add blue and not as big as you might think we have gone from an old Troopy to a single cab NPS and love it hit me up if you want any info : ps love your videos we have been watching for quite a while now cheers Peter & Anne.
word on the street is, it's the body rubbers (ones that bolt the body to the chassis) so if you replace with same year Colorado, this will prevent the issue..
Great honest conversation. Just wanted to let you know, I made the Laksa! Best camp meal of our trip. We replaced the fish with squid caught an hour or so before. Thanks for the recipe 😊 🦑🍜
Seen a view of your vids, just subscribed. So good to see people just genuine and authentic. Love it. Don’t do van life but will have a slide on camper with new D-Max. Hope to see ya one day in my travels.
On the subject of caravan tare weight, my single axle van has a tare weight of 1175k, ATM 1495kg. I took it to a weighbridge with empty water tanks, empty fridge, only basic panty items, air conditioner as I bought it, Dometic awning, only one 4.5kg gas bottle, one extra 120 a/h agm battery and a Bluetti AC200P lithium solar generator, no solar panels, no clothes, basic bedding. It was 1510kg. I have to upgrade the axle/springs to
great little sitdown episode 👍 Lucky to even get toyota to take your order as they have stopped taking orders for all the 70 series range, or have you gone for the 300!!! we too have a caravan on order and that is constantly being pushed out with longer wait time. also we have heard that they are measuring the weights of the Caravans and not even including the mattress 🙄
Sadly the choices of 4x4 , that are reliable is getting hard to find , That's why I still have my 100 series , 1999, standard wagon , 440,000 km , Payed $20,000 15 yrs ago, Built my van 15 yr ago Still live in van , Best decision I ever made , Cheers Bevan from Sapphire Central Queensland 🤠❤️🇦🇺
Cheers for the comment Bevan. I've got to agree mate. The Dmax is my 14th 4x4 I've had (I'll have to do a vid one day on all the cars I've had!), and its the only one that I've ever had to put on a tilt tray home...
Hey Cam, hi Tiff. Great to see you guys on the screen together again. Can't wait to see you venturing out on tour in your new van. Just a side note, the 79's can be rough old jiggers! If Tiff hasn't been in one you might wanna take her for a test driver first. Great video guy's 👍 Looking forward to the next one. Keep up the great work.
Cheers Darryl, we had an old single cab 75series years ago, and the last car was a povo-pack 105 wagon. So she knows what shes in for haha. Just need something safe, reliable and legally able to lug all our stuff around!
@@WildTouring there no more reliable mate,I’ve seen heaps of new 79 series broken on my lap - probably more than most - you’d have to spend a fortune to get reliability
Dont worry too much about it mate. I think the crashshop did a good job for $800. What ever you want to replace it with, the way you use your rig will eventually give you some problems sooner or later. As long as it is reliable mechanical wise I think you guys will be ok. Goodluck on you adventures.
Great video guy’s love the honesty… I recently swapped from a dmax to a 78 series troopy, my kids are driving themselves now so no need for back doors…WA delivery (Midland) was 9 months, dealer was fantastic to deal with. 70 series LC’s are a completely different vehicle and I honestly love it and for me was the best upgrade from the dmax. They cop a lot of flack about running costs which is not correct… anyhow good luck with the choice its a tough expensive decision either way you go.
Nice to see Tiff again. I was worried you had eloped with Pete!! But where is Chloe the real star of your channel? Put her in every video and you'll soon be up to 100K subs.❤
Hey Cam We have a 2015 Mux and had the cracked inner guard issue on both sides, after our smash repairer mate and ourselves put a lot of pressure on Isuzu they came good with Warranty ( new Lh&Rh inner guard & radiator support panel replaced) like you said it’s a know problem.but not everyone is as lucky as us with warranty. Cheers Love ya channel.
the way the Isuzu chassis is constructed allows for the front rails to flex and that, in turn allows the bulbar to `rock’ from side to side, magnifying the metal-stressing effects causing metal fatigue and cracks through the front end including chassis where big, heavy bull-bars and winches have been fitted, effectively cantilevering off the rails welding the cracks up means you’re technically altering the crumple zone of the vehicle and this could cause potential issues for insurance if not engineered possible you would have to look into it I could be wrong also have seen some people mount thier heavy winches further back towards the front axle on a cradle like contraption this greatly minimise the weight right forward of you chassis also stiffer after market suspension contributes towards metal fatigue in most cars so something to consider to avoid the other side doing the same thing Love ya content guys always honest down to earth and entertaining to watch can't wait for the next one 👌
Cheers mate. Crash repairer is licenced, insured and assures me the repair is safe and compliant. Insurance company is aware of the repair too. I'm told the repair will be stronger than a replacement - time will tell I guess!
Been a while since I had you grace the PC screen, but was worth it. Like you, I am struggling a bit with what is good for towing, etc' etc'. Have you thought about getting a Canter or Isuzu 4x4?? My wife isn't keen on towing the van or doing any sort of 4x4ing, which is ok with me. Does Tiff drive much?? Haven't seen any footage, so could be wrong. Took a Next-gen Ranger for a run ( 15 month wait, can have a Canter by Xmas this yr )....really torquey motor, and a bigger gvm and gcm. I don't fish, but you could easily get a boat and loader on the truck with van and be way under gvm and gcm, you'll just need an LR truck licence, which easy to get..... Looking forward to seeing the new van. I'd stick with 12V as it could be problematic charging 24V from a 12V vehicle.... Cheers Daz
bummer about the Dmax breaking. for and outside the box idea have a drive in an Audi Q7, big wagon, tows 3.5t plus full GVM, put some decent tyres on it and it will go almost anywhere. we got a 2011 V8 and its an awesome drive.
I was going to buy a dmax for towing but they were a little out of my price range. So i bought a 2018 colorado. I guess i will see if it can last pulling a caravan in the near future. Great channel mate. Hope all goes well. 👌
In my experience the trailer/van is always heavier then stated on the placard. Example I know a horse float tare is before any internals go into it gates, devider, ect.
Yeah seems most are. Mate who recently received a new zone weighed it, and the weight was the same as what was on the plate. So there's a few doing the right thing!
I noticed similar cracks - both sides on my 2010 GU Patrol not long after I got it in 2013. with 80,000km on. Ex budget rental - probably got thrashed hard on corrugations its entire life with 50psi in the tyres. I later found the front two body mounts had collapsed which probably caused it. ZD30 patrol owners are used to their cars failing - so there probably is no class action though.
Thats a good innings. I can't afford to build a new touring rig every 5 years, need something reliable, safe and legally able to lug all the weight around!
Great update and can't wait to continue along. The only dilemma you have posed is who I can squeeze into Patreon for. It sounds like an amazing trip looking forward to Saturdays until I bite the Patreon bullet. Cheers 🍻
Great that you’ve come through Covid and are ok🥳 Love seeing your video posts…I click that like button before I even watch the video🤣 Can’t wait to see your new van😍xxx
Hey mate, good stuff as usual. Not sure if it’s been mentioned in other comments about the 70 series being on hold here in oz. If you’re a cadogan fan catch his short clip from yesterday confirming what your car dealer said was false.
Nah definitely been keeping an eye on them. Power and weight figures are really impressive. I think the 79 is probably a better choice for us though, I suspect its a bit more 'bush tough'.
Great to see the usual common sense and being over all the issues/problems without going all fanboy/fangirl about the product you use for your travels. Fact is that I doubt any vehicle these days is made to be loaded to its max and pounded over corrugations, sand dunes or whatever in some of the conditions we have here. Also upgrading will just shift the loads somewhere else that isn't upgraded imo. All comes down to how much you can spend really, same as most things in life.
Totally agree. We just want to find that sweet spot, something relatively bush-proof that can lug our gear around safely and legally without borrowing money we don't have. We'll get there!
The fact is many modern vehicle with built in aggressive crumble zones ( to reduce severity of frontal crash) are just not compatible with big heavy front bar / winch and god forbid a heavy lead acid battery being driven over heavy corrugation - Maybe look at a smart bar on your next vehicle. Utes with long distance between rear wheel and tow ball is not idea ( dynamics) for towing either, with triton being the worst offender…. So when getting tow bar installed, you need to choose carefully on a bar which allows your tow point to be as close to your rear wheels as possible… I do thing 70 series is still good choice , despite its issues, for towing heavy and being bush tough… cruisers are also great if your travel is mostly road and unsealed roads only…
We are looking at the willow caravan too. I'm really keen to see if you do the 24V setup. I've seen it done on some videos by sat and Solar in Qld and it seems to be a great option. Good luck with everything.
I reckon they're a pretty good buy at the moment, and I'll still consider one. But the 100kg roof load rating means a tinny on top would be pretty hard to make work.
The Window Knobs Come of in Travel on Unsealed Roads the Door Is Absolutely Terrible .............We opened our door after 300 klms on Buntine Hwy across from Halls Creek.....lets just say WIFE NOT HAPPY ..:{
hi guys ,i just bought 2018 model, and am doing the ann Beadell highway in September, just wondering who you used to repair the crack if it happens to mine. cheers Frank
That's a shame, but hey don't let that deter you from considering the new model D-max as an option. 79 series if you tune it, it's going to need a n uprated clutch as they standard one is very light weight, probably not a bad idea if your going to tow a big van. V6 Ranger also a possible option maybe, reported a good fuel economy from that donk. Be interesting to see what you decide on.

You’re not wrong! A mate has a Y62 with a 20ft van and boat on top. He’s averaging 32L, exactly double my economy 😳
Great work Guys, another fabulous video, you always keep it real, luv life and do what makes you guys happy, that’s the most important thing.
Cheers Mick, appreciate the support mate!
Thanks for update. Sorry to hear about the car 😔 can’t wait to see you back on the road eventually 😊
Cheers Lisa!
Thanks for the info
I am glad I brought a HiLux rugged
Thanks for keeping it real. We like that you are a down to earth family sharing with us your experiences exploring Australia. Also, walking us through your decision making process . Hope bub and rest of the family are doing well.
Cheers Michael, appreciate the kind words and support mate!
We will also be looking for cracks in our 2018
I should have watched until I posted. You’re aware of the class action. I’m a DMax driver , so far no splits. Keep safe. Love the channel 👍
Cheers Tony
Yeah thats fair enough. 3500kg towing with 1300kg payload would work pretty well for us.
Check the integredy of the body mounts, if they have degraded and are loose then the lack of support would cause body damage.
They look okay, no cracked or collapsed. But i may change them out for colorado ones as others have suggested.
Good honest channel keep doing what you’re doing
Thanks mate!
We had a look at the Red Centres a few months ago, nice looking vans!
Thanks for the catch-up video with a few important points of information. I also have a DMax, the new model. I think the Willow caravan is a good choice and such a short wait time.
Loved this one so good to see you both together and insights in to your thoughts and thinking forward
Cheers Ricky 👍🏼
Cheers guys, its so annoying that this happens! Hopefully we are not affected too badly - we'll see!
They're not built like they use to be John! Cheers mate.
Great video, you guys are 1 of the few who are honest and straight down the line and just real, have stopped following a few channels as over the advertorials and pushing their own bullshit, keep up the great work and great to see Tiff back
Thanks for the comment mate, appreciate the support!
Keep your honesty mate, love your channel.
Cheers mate!
I think a 70 is actually a pretty good option Cam. No doubt you’re paying for the badge but considering the number of them on the road and in commercial and industrial use I don’t think you can go wrong. Might be better options for comfort etc but there wouldn’t be too many stronger drivelines IMO.
Thats our thoughts as well. Theres certainly some compromise - but reliability and keeping it safe/legal is the top priority!
@@jamiemckennon1944 and they are far from comfortable.
I drive a troopy for work and an mux privately and it’s very different!
Cheers
Check the front body mounts! Are they cracked? If yes replace as it's a weak point causing movement.
@@WildTouring , yep you have to do what suits….. but we all get a bit carried away. 😀😀
Please don't go for a 79, Everyone has them and they are just so overdone! So BORING
Cheers guys, its an options we've considered. But 79 would make a bit more sense for out needs over a truck. Thanks for the offer though!
word on the street is, it's the body rubbers (ones that bolt the body to the chassis) so if you replace with same year Colorado, this will prevent the issue..
Yeah I've heard that, along with a few others suggestions. I may just swap them out anything - pretty cheap preventative maintenance i guess.
Hey Cam, the new ranger has a 6400kg gcm and 184kw and 600nm. Seems like it might fit your plan pretty well
Yeah Its on my radar, power and weight figures are impressive.
I think the 79 is probably more bush proof though.
Great honest conversation. Just wanted to let you know, I made the Laksa! Best camp meal of our trip. We replaced the fish with squid caught an hour or so before. Thanks for the recipe 😊 🦑🍜
So stoked to hear that, would have been awesome with fresh squid!
It's great the common sense you both have. Always a pleasure to hear your views on all things. Great stuff!!
Cheers Ray!
Seen a view of your vids, just subscribed. So good to see people just genuine and authentic. Love it. Don’t do van life but will have a slide on camper with new D-Max. Hope to see ya one day in my travels.
Cheers Marcus
This happens all the time on Prado's as well, especially if you put a bigger battery than spec in the cradle, and drive a lot of corrugations.
Yeah I heard the prados and FJs have the same issues.
You've done the right thing ordering a new 79 series. Gives you an option to cancel when you want to go in another direction.
Cheers Peter, yeah gives me that option! When the time comes i'll reassess and see where we are at!
I have to upgrade the axle/springs to
That’s was great to watch. Very interested in seeing which way you go with the car situation.
Cheers guys!
great little sitdown episode 👍
Lucky to even get toyota to take your order as they have stopped taking orders for all the 70 series range,
or have you gone for the 300!!!
we too have a caravan on order and that is constantly being pushed out with longer wait time. also we have heard that they are measuring the weights of the Caravans and not even including the mattress 🙄
Hmmmm. After watching your video I checked my 2015 DMax and lo and behold there is a crack in the left inner guard.
Sorry to hear that 😞
Well done Cam, love your transparency. I’d love to see you build 79 tourer.
Cheers mate, we'll see what happens!
Still my favourite channel. Looking forward to your new van
And the adventures that follow
Thanks mate!
Have a look into using the Colorado body mounts for the front of the Dmax. Apparently helps mitigate the cracking issues.
Cheers mate, have heard this. Probably worth a go just for the sake of preventative maintenance!
Love love everything about you Guys and your channel..watch every thing as soon as it comes up❣Ps..great to see you Tiff feels like ages.
Thanks Tarn!
Hey Cam, hi Tiff. Great to see you guys on the screen together again. Can't wait to see you venturing out on tour in your new van. Just a side note, the 79's can be rough old jiggers! If Tiff hasn't been in one you might wanna take her for a test driver first. Great video guy's 👍
Looking forward to the next one.
Hey Cam & Tiff, Another great informative video.. keep them coming.. Me & wifey love them.. Safe travels 👌
Thanks Brett!
Cancel my new dmax a month ago and picked up my new 70 th. 79 dual cab love it am so glad I got it now wife loves it to let the build fun begin.
Congrats Brent. They're both good rigs. Compromise either way!
Dont worry too much about it mate. I think the crashshop did a good job for $800. What ever you want to replace it with, the way you use your rig will eventually give you some problems sooner or later. As long as it is reliable mechanical wise I think you guys will be ok. Goodluck on you adventures.
Thanks mate, yeah they did a great job with the repair.
Cheers Patrick, thats good feedback mate.
Thanks for this up date 👍👍
No worries Rod
Nice to see Tiff again. I was worried you had eloped with Pete!! But where is Chloe the real star of your channel? Put her in every video and you'll soon be up to 100K subs.❤
Hey Cam
We have a 2015 Mux and had the cracked inner guard issue on both sides, after our smash repairer mate and ourselves put a lot of pressure on Isuzu they came good with Warranty ( new Lh&Rh inner guard & radiator support panel replaced) like you said it’s a know problem.but not everyone is as lucky as us with warranty.
Cheers
Love ya channel.
Cheers Rod, that was a good result mate! i know how difficult they can be to come to the party...
I saw an article that there is about to be a recall on the Isuzu D Max about this problem!
Lots of pressure on Isuzu, nothing official yet though.
Sorry to hear mate, seems to be a bunch of these cases with the gen2 dmaxes, will be interesting to see the how this class action progresses
Cheers mate, really disappointing. Interesting times ahead with the class action!
@@WildTouring hopefully this isn't an issue with the gen3!
the way the Isuzu chassis is constructed allows for the front rails to flex and that, in turn allows the bulbar to `rock’ from side to side, magnifying the metal-stressing effects causing metal fatigue and cracks through the front end including chassis where big, heavy bull-bars and winches have been fitted, effectively cantilevering off the rails welding the cracks up means you’re technically altering the crumple zone of the vehicle and this could cause potential issues for insurance if not engineered possible you would have to look into it I could be wrong also have seen some people mount thier heavy winches further back towards the front axle on a cradle like contraption this greatly minimise the weight right forward of you chassis also stiffer after market suspension contributes towards metal fatigue in most cars so something to consider to avoid the other side doing the same thing
Love ya content guys always honest down to earth and entertaining to watch can't wait for the next one 👌
Cheers mate.
Crash repairer is licenced, insured and assures me the repair is safe and compliant. Insurance company is aware of the repair too. I'm told the repair will be stronger than a replacement - time will tell I guess!
@@WildTouring sweet what did they say about bracing the other side to stop any potential issues surfacing
Just went out and checked my Dmax, luckily all good, I've tuned mine to, what did you have done with your Dmax ??
Cheers
Daz
bummer about the Dmax breaking. for and outside the box idea have a drive in an Audi Q7, big wagon, tows 3.5t plus full GVM, put some decent tyres on it and it will go almost anywhere. we got a 2011 V8 and its an awesome drive.
Cheers mate, I've seen a few of these towing big caravans. Probably not suitable for the offroad stuff I want to do though.
I was going to buy a dmax for towing but they were a little out of my price range. So i bought a 2018 colorado. I guess i will see if it can last pulling a caravan in the near future. Great channel mate. Hope all goes well. 👌
Cheers mate, it'll all work out one way or another!
Thats dissapointing. My last car (105 series land cruiser), was an ex rental. They certainly have a tough life!
You won't regret the 79 yeah there basic but there easy to with a few mods there killer mines a 2014 and has 385000kms now still going strong
Cheers 🍻

Thanks for watching!
Hey mate, good stuff as usual. Not sure if it’s been mentioned in other comments about the 70 series being on hold here in oz. If you’re a cadogan fan catch his short clip from yesterday confirming what your car dealer said was false.
Cheers Paul, nah i'll have to give that a watch tonight. Thanks mate.
have you thought about a 6 wheel conversion (6x4), could buy a dual cab and convert for probably cheaper than a 79 series.
Look at the new v6 ranger in XLT now standard gcm is 6400kg do a pre reg upgrade to gcm … lots of power ;)
Did the new Ranger slip past, more power and GCM up to 6.4t. Love your work. Cheers.
@@WildTouring Yeah cool.
I see that Toyota have stopped taking orders for the 70 series as well.
Great chat guys, I couldn’t get a word in….
Haha cheers Heinz
Really great vlog 😁 ❤️🇦🇺🦘
Manual rocks Daaad.Watch for those spider webs down south.
Tinny on the roof of the caravan . . . Sorted 😂🤣😜
its an option!
Wouldn't want to sacrifice the solar real estate though.
Was tiff one of those 50 subscribers in that 24hr period 🤣
Still hasn’t! 😂
The fact is many modern vehicle with built in aggressive crumble zones ( to reduce severity of frontal crash) are just not compatible with big heavy front bar / winch and god forbid a heavy lead acid battery being driven over heavy corrugation -
Maybe look at a smart bar on your next vehicle. Utes with long distance between rear wheel and tow ball is not idea ( dynamics) for towing either, with triton being the worst offender…. So when getting tow bar installed, you need to choose carefully on a bar which allows your tow point to be as close to your rear wheels as possible…
I do thing 70 series is still good choice , despite its issues, for towing heavy and being bush tough… cruisers are also great if your travel is mostly road and unsealed roads only…
Yeah that makes a lot of sense.
All vehicles have their issues - 70 series have theirs too!
We are looking at the willow caravan too. I'm really keen to see if you do the 24V setup. I've seen it done on some videos by sat and Solar in Qld and it seems to be a great option. Good luck with everything.
Cheers John. Good luck with you caravan shopping - its pretty overwhelming with so many options now!
Gee not good but but reasonable cost on repair. Looking forward to seeing your new van.
Cheers Dean, can't wait to get it!
Y62 Mate go for it 😉😉
I reckon they're a pretty good buy at the moment, and I'll still consider one. But the 100kg roof load rating means a tinny on top would be pretty hard to make work.
Mate get your new Boab Tested for Dust ingress....comes in everdoor nook and Crany....Van also looses windows knobs
Thanks mate, already have a Carafan which we will get fitted once we receive it. Also plan to go around with some silicone for sure!
The Window Knobs Come of in Travel on Unsealed Roads the Door Is Absolutely Terrible .............We opened our door after 300 klms on Buntine Hwy across from Halls Creek.....lets just say WIFE NOT HAPPY ..:{
hi guys ,i just bought 2018 model, and am doing the ann Beadell highway in September, just wondering who you used to repair the crack if it happens to mine. cheers Frank
New ford ranger v6 twin turbo prob your best bet imo
Weights and power figures are impressive!
The new ranger was definitely on my short list. Power and weights are impressive. We'll see what happens down the track!
@@WildTouring I just got the v6 sport and I say go test drive it. If you don't like tech though you'll hate it :D
