    Best value lube set in Australia is the Okuma grease and oil kit. The grease is Cal's drag grease and the oil Corrosion X.

      Yeah nice. I might have to get some. A few the reels are in need of a service.

    Those freams are pretty good for the money. The felt on mine is still pretty good but ive gone carbontex on my abu c4 and found that with the grease less is more. Basically only the thinnest of smears was needed for best results.

      Yeah they’re a good reel hey. Mine has served me well so far, the felt washers were starting to wear out. Thinner is definitely better with the amount of grease, otherwise you just get too much drag slip.

    Awesome vid mate, thanks for sharing this tip! I definitely just learnt something new haha, I might have to start doing this with my own reels! The drag at the end looked awesome, stronger and smooth. I had a good laugh at that Borat clip by the way 😂🤣

      Thanks mate 😘 it’s work a treat for those older drag systems. Be good for chasing those Spanish and cobia 👌

      @@BrisVegasFishing That’s what I’m thinking mate 😅 got a couple of 4000-5000 size spin reels that have had a few too many mackerel screaming line off them 😅
      If I replace the older drags (that I’ve never even touched) with the carbontex, could it revive them a bit?

      Well it definitely wouldn’t hurt em 😂 sounds like they could probably do with an all round service.

    How do you now what thickness you need?

    • @BrisVegasFishing
      @BrisVegasFishing  Год назад +1

      You can measure the thickness of the original felt with a set of vernier callipers.

      @@BrisVegasFishingmeasure the felt but it's soft... won't you get different readings depending on how much tension you place on the calipers??
      Will measuring the metal washers be fine???

      @@BricMabesa well the felt washers are normally pretty squashed as it is and don’t have to much give. So as long as you’re not putting tremendous pressure on the callipers that should be fine. 😅
