Yeah that’s where we measure, it could’ve be en the camera angle or something maybe. As for the floats they just have to have a distance no shorter than 150mm in any direction. Doesn’t specify that they have to be a styrene float only.

They hadn’t had much rain in that system or even in the Haughton area either. The water temp was high though, up around that 35 degrees c. Once it cools down a bit towards Easter you should see more full crab about.

The higher water temps increase the crabs metabolism and obviously brings them out of hibernation. So it takes them a lot longer to fill up I reckon. I don’t mind picking through the quantity to get some quality though.

It was January 1st when I was out filming this one. Currently in North Queensland so not too sure how the river would be fairing but I’m sure they’d still be about. It’d take a lot of fresh to push the fish out or shut them down.

Thanks mate. Haven’t had any success with plastics down there so will just have to do more practice based on your earlier video. But the last trip resulted in a couple of nice flatties on the troll with the better one a pb so sent it back to boost the stock.

Nah not typically, a lot of the plastics I use usually have that built in scent. If I do use any scent it’s S factor, but I don’t religiously re-apply it

Bridges like that id be more focused on the light lines and shadows cast by them. That’s typically where those predatory fish are gonna be and they’ll sit quite high in the water column. It’s such a deep stretch of the river through there and can be quite hard to fish it land based. But yeah I hate circle hooks and wire trace 😂 I’m pretty much just not fussed on shark fishing full stop if you couldn’t tell. 😂

Gotta have the phrases aye. You won’t catch a fish if you don’t speak it into existence 😂

I’ll always let hit the bottom. In rougher conditions it can be harder to feel or tell when it’s on the bottom. On a drift I’ll continually work that lure as soon as it does touch the bottom though. Otherwise you get too much slack build up or you end up dragging bottom getting snagged and missing fish.

In the future I might be able to do something like that. 🤔
