Braided line on the centerpin lol, and this is why I LOVE TEAM ADDICTED FISHING. you should've rigged up the 13' rod in this video man, would be PURE CENTERPIN ELIT lol...., it'll be a more badass PIN VS SPIN challenge if you guys put "DANNY COLVILLE" in this video, or even Ash "BADASSOUTDOORS", both awesome pin anglers

@@alltroutdout7746 I think they definitely have to have someone to show them how to properly use a centerpin. It’s the channel about educating? Born and Raise had a guest on one of their steelheading videos and he was one of the guys on a How to Centerpin DVD’s, he’d be great on here cause he’s from the PNW.

Hey Cameron, my brother in law who has never once fished for steelhead or salmon managed to land his first steelhead last weekend on one of those extended bobber downs on a bead. The guide looked over and said "hey, where's your float"? Landed a dime bright fish. I was so proud

Switch your mainline to a mono 20lb Stren clear blue is the way to go. Don’t be afraid to run a bigger float and heavier weights while your starting out makes it easier to adapt to the casting. Don’t let your main line out on the water so much you should be able to be a direct connection with your float. Keep working on it Cam and you will start smoking them!

It would be awesome to see Kyle McClelland or Jacob Zirkle or even Danny C. vs any Addicted crew in the Pacific Northwest, I honestly think it wouldn’t be fair. Props to Cam for trying but things he could have done to make it easier are: get rid of the brand and stick to mono, forget the modified Wallis cast and use the swing cast instead, the premise of the CP is the connection to your float while you drift and you have too much slack out there.

Cam call okuma to send you a free sheffield for that pin. It wasn't your fault you missed those bobber downs. Setting the hook on a pin is tough to get used to anyways but if you are going to run braid on a pin you really want a 12ft plus rod. The braid has more drag than mono and the rods are so flexible it's tough to connect if you have too much line in the water. That's why a long ass rod helps immensely if you run braid. Believe me if you get a 12+ you will be the deadliest pinner in the west lol absolutely love the pin content keep it up!

Ik you PNW quys do it different than great lake guys but as far as the pin goes, lose the braid for mono. 2nd, use a longer rod like 11-13ft. The reason the pin is superior for floats is not only the drag free drift, but in combination with a long enough rod it keeps your line off the water for the perfect drift while keeping you directly connected to your float. If you do it properly you will absolutely miss less fish than the spinning setups. Drifting with spin gear in comparison is sloppy, slack line on the water for the current to mess your driftline up while you guys miss more because of the constant slack and having to flip the bail and take up all that extra slack with a shorter rod. Baitcasters which I prefer, I think are just as effective for drifting as a pin but better in every other way. Surprised you guys don't do more float fishing with baitcasters. Specially given you guys seem to run oversize on your floats, so don't see casting as an issue. Only reason guides out this way use spin gear for floats is when they have less experienced clients to on board. Most user friendly but definitely least effective setup to float fish.

It's ok, Cam. It's all about consistency. The more you use it, the easier it is. Just like when you first started fishing for steelhead. There's lots of frustration til you figure them out. You should definitely get together with Kyle McMelland again for more tips and another video! And just like another viewer recommended, try to keep a more direct line to float. Less line on the water or at least no belly. Hook sets are nothing more than just a reel and lift. Keep up the awesome videos, guys!

That being said, I'd wager that you already own most of his channel.
    So tight lines I guess.

I hear you, but honestly it’s opinion based. I can see it in the analytics that I study constantly. Everyone has their favorites. The Addicted channel has always been a team effort. A lot goes into everything we do to make all these channels work. It takes all of us working together. The goal is to have multiple channels for all of us. Jordans channel is for the people that love him & what he does. This channel is the family channel we all are on. Eventually more channels will launch dedicated to each person. Appreciate the feedback either way.

I really don't understand the draw to using a centerpin it's harder I personally think it's easy but I could definitely mend line way better with a regular Hardware spinning gear than with a centerpin. Yeah yeah here all the time it's easier to let line off your real as the floats going down the river it's really not I can do it just as easy and just as good with my spinning reel and when it comes right down to it hooking fish fighting the fish way easier with a spinning reel but hey I guess it's something different but it definitely doesn't outperform the reel rod
