My brother suffered from bipolar disorder...this song has been so healing.. He would try to explain his “Lows” to us... we never really understood him. He passed away 6 months away. Mental illness is heavy and you need help carrying the weight. Listen to your love ones if they tell you they aren’t okay. It’s too late for us.
anna keller I’m deeply sorry to hear about your loss🙏🏼🙏🏼 Thank you for sharing, this is a very important message. Sending so much love and strength to you and your family♥️
A comment has never made me want to cry before. I often feel very down but I know that's probably only scratching the surface of what he must had to deal with. I am so sorry for his loss. Also know that its not your fault. When i feel like myself again i often still find it hard to empathise and understand what someone is going through. Even if I've gone through the very same thing. I even doubt if i was ever even sad to begin with until it comes back. You just couldn't have known that deeply. so please tell your family to not blame themselves too harshly.
Lovely song, I love how she said in a interview that she wants different cultures to learn from each other and come together, that's part of what this song represents. And the other half being who you are as individuals. That's Beautiful 💞
@@eliana9817 Are you sure? Creole languages were formed because of the slave trade and colonization. Where the natives languages would be mixed with the colonizer's languages. Are you telling me no new languages were formed in Africa as a result of mixing natives languages and colonizers languages?
@@JBMorris9 no your talking about Yoruba which is completely different dialect . Haiti got colonized by French so it’s a mixture of French native language and Spanish .
This is truly a beautiful song! It definitely resonates with me. I'm sure that so many other people can also relate because we are all dealing with challenges. I think most people have a small part of themselves in this song. The human struggle is real. Congratulations to Naika!!! ❤❤❤❤

Girl I once said I wish to be you! It’s the first (and right?) time I focus with the lyrics… and you’re telling my almost 38 years old story ! I wish my family & husband understood how deep & painful my lows are. Cause they only see how shining my highs are… And yes, I’m still losing my colors but now even in my highs. But I have to hold on for my wonderful daughter ♥️ Bless the highs but fuck these lows…! ❤️🩹❤️🩹

I've been losing my colors
Been slipping way under
Swimming in black waters and I
Can't find the shore no
I've been running with no rest
Ain't no catching my breath
I ain't sleeping in my bed
I can't get these thoughts outta my head
All of these demons get rough
They never know when to stop
Sweeping me under the rug
Bless the high but fuck these lows
But damn when it's finally done
I'm strong like the African sun
Got everything I need to keep me going
Eh mpaka lage mpaka lage
Map kembe la la
Eh mpaka lage
Fok mwen kembe
Eh mpaka lage mpaka lage
Map kembe la la
Eh mpaka lage
Fok mwen kembe
I let things hit me deeply
Heavy weight till I can't breathe
I keep the noise right beside me
This cycle's pulling me mad deep
I've been running with no rest
Ain't no catching my breath
I'm not sleeping in my bed
I can't get these thoughts out of my head
All of these demons get rough
They never know when to stop
Sweeping me under the rug
Bless the high but fuck these lows
But then when it's finally done
I'm strong like the African sun
Got everything I need to keep me going
