In Vesperia,my go it's are Yuri and Judith cause I'm more of a rush down kinda man, and Judy's airgame is satisfying. Also dabbled with Flynn whenever he was around. And Rita, man I haven't gotten too far for all her craziest spells but she still was fun and I enjoyed running up and whacking ppl with her weapons just to troll. Which I also enjoy doing with my witch wife Magilou, just playfully whacking foes with her guardians. I do enjoy the spell speed thingy in Berseria and her BREAK SOUL, it's always a great time to steal the enemies magic and fling it back at them and then some as a giant "F OFF" nuke of many flavors. Speaking of break souls, Eizen's always has me evil laughing when I can activate them back to back, just a constant fun cycle of "stun/knock down>YOU'RE WIDE OPEN, BURN!>Dragon dive>rage" and keeping that rhythm going again and again. Of course I naturally also love Velvet's acrobatic demon claw berserker rampages and Eleanor is fun as well. I also enjoy Rokuro though his break souls are more tricky. The only Berseria party member I don't switch to regularly is Laphicet, love the little guy's character but I'm too stupid to play with him lol.
I don't know about anyone else, but my favorite character to play as in all of the Tales games (excluding protagonists) is Pascal. She's so weird, and her combat style fits her personality so well. Long range melee with short range spells. I don't think I've ever had as much fun in any other Tales game.
For me, I don’t really like using Mages, you spend more time casting rather than fighting, that’s why I choose to play characters that move fast that have longer combos. When I played Zestiria fighting the boss Maltran, she moves really fast, this is why I got interested to characters that uses spears. -I use Judith in Vesperia, although she isn’t that fast but I love spears. -Eleanor in Berseria, her fighting style reminds me of Maltran from Zestiria. I really want these 2 to have the mystic arte Shouharekkousen. I also like Eleanor’s Lost Fon Drive.
I also expected Judith but happy to see Eleanor. She was my first thought, Patty however is the right choice. Like to rotate my character as the level but it's hard not to throw Patty back to my control. Too fun

Not sure who my favourite in Vesperia is yet (though Patty is great), but in the other Tales games I was able to play I enjoyed Zelos, Mikleo, Edna and Magilou. Mainly Magilou. She's just so much fun!
My favorites were Hubert, Rita, Guy, Richard, Judith and Regal. Hubert BY FAR, I switched to him alittle bit more than halfway into my first playthrough and literally never touched Asbel again. I played through Graces about ~10 times and always defaulted back to Hubert. INSTANT BALLS.

It's not a Zaffre video without a bruh moment, it seems Anyway, very cool video! A lot of the segments were pretty hecking entertaining (again, even if some had bruh moments) and I just like how this is a video solely based on the gameplay aspects of Tales game because I don't see that too often Actually I don't see a lot of strictly gameplay related videos for any RPGs now that I think about it Also some of my favorites to play as besides the protagonists are Guy, Alvin, Lailah, Eleanor, Eizen, Natalia, Raven, Kratos, Regal, Malik, Dezel/Zaveid, Flynn, Gaius and Rita (holy geebus that's a lot)

List full of Xillia and Graces characters, just how I like it. Personally not a fan of how Elize or Rowen controls, they move and attack a tad too slowly. If you get targeted by some monsters, it's difficult to get rid of them. Truly a pity that Ludger is so damn fun to play as, I haven't had the chance to truly experience playing as Muzét or Gaius.
@@KaimArgonarEyyyy takes one second (literally) with the right skills, groups everything together, large Area of Effect and high chance of stunning due to fear status effect. can pretty much shut anything down in every battle. I'm saying this because quite frankly negative gate snaps the game in half, and it is the easiest way to beat the arena with solo elize
Funny, I'm the exact opposite in most cases since I'm a melee fighter. XD I never really stick to casting. Even when playing a caster I can't help but want to just run up and clobber the enemy with a melee attack after a while. Funny enough Elanor still falls on my list since she's a great melee fighter too. :)
What a nice list. Super entertaining and your excitement is always enjoyable. My own fun non-Protag characters are: 1-Eizen 2-Rowen Xillia 2 version(the best mage in the series to me) 3- Sophie 4-Leia 5-Hubert 6-Edna 7-Magilou 8-Patty 9-Ines 10-Chalcedony
Graces had the most fluid combat in the series, but I'd have to put Malik and Hubert as my representatives. Love pascal as a character but she takes alot of positional management. Captain Malik is a long range caster with a long range weapon. Love the fact that his usual is in direct opposition to his appearance. Also a big fan of his incredibly hammy incantations. Hubert is actually more flexible than Asbel, Love how you can use him close and mid range.
Oh Rita, the one in the party, that has the witty, yet repulsive attitude and at times you think she shouldn't really be there(never really joins the guild, at first). Yet, she is the magic spell caster mage, and has such an admirable sister hood with Estelle. I keep her in my party, when she isn't chasing down enemies like her dog is running loose.
I agree with a lot of these, and completely agree that you're right- there's a ton of playable characters that just nail their fun vibe. I guess I'll mention some favorites. Graces F really does have one of the best playable casts in the series, and I can have comfortable and flashy fun with basically any character. I think my personal favorite is Pascal. There's something about having to play a mage that uses exclusively point-blank spells for maximum damage that just works for me. And that Cyandine arte? That pop-high damage slam just does it for me. Might be my favorite single attack in the series. Etna is also my favorite from Zestiria, and her brother takes up the mantel in Berseria. I usually don't really care for "punchy" characters, but Eizen's ability to crank out his Break Soul Draconic Drive just makes him super fun to me. For Xillia 2 I'd say it goes to Gaius. Using his boss techniques from the first game felt so satisfying, and he hits that perfect level of "average good-intentioned dude" meets edgelord to make his whole kit work. Magilou is a fantastic mage, but Rita will always be my favorite. The power of her basic Fireball and Overdrive spells + Blah blah blah is just too good to not fall in love with. My last off-the-top favorite is Presea from Symphonia. One of the only axe user slots in the series goes to a little girl with a tragic past and incredibly fun combos. Her hitstun is so good even her basic slow swings make monsters respect her. She's just perfect... as long as you have the Orange Jells.
Repede gets slept on in Vesperia as a playable character probably because his AI is hopeless which leads people to think he sucks (same deal as Judith). Late game he's basically invincible if you're good at timing Gale Dog and has massive Range due to Illusory Dog on top of moving lightning fast around the field on top of having fast and easy to chain Combo strings. He's a blast to master.
I'm SOBBING that you seem to be sleeping on my girl Pascal /j She's my main in graces and I love her Ranger melee and close range spells it's just so fun!
The Ghost Ship in Vesperia is a blessing because of how it splits your party. If it didn't, I'd have never played as Patty and never found out how much fun she'd be.
Have only beat 5 Tales but i very much enjoyed using Judith and Rita in ToV. I auto battled thru ToZestiria until the final boss. Then had to learn how to fight. Then loved Edna. Heh

As of now, i'm currently playing Graces. Pascal's a favorite of mine. Overall though, either Beryl or Ange. And the only right way to play Ange is melee.
Offended you didn’t put Judith on the list. Never before have I had so much fun with a character. She’s super hard to learn but once you know what you’re doing with her, she’s the ultimate “the floor is lava” character. Aerial juggles for days.
I can't say I ever thought about ranking the most fun to play before, so I like this idea. Though this is vastly different from my own list. I think Guy, Rita and Eleanor are the only ones I actually used.I don't often try every character out, but this has me got me interested in doing that for more games in the series.
I have only played Xillia, Zestiria and Berseria so far. - Tales of Xillia - I really enjoyed playing as Alvin once I understood his playstyle. But to be honest, I enjoyed playing as every single character in this game. - Tales of Zestiria - Edna is the best. And Dezel and Zaveid also had fun and cool looking moves. - Tales of Berseria - As I was playing through all the characters, the last one ended up being Eleanor. Turns out, I unknowingly saved one of the most fun characters for last. It's so fun watching her twirl around with the staff and annihilate the enemies with her mystic artes.
Im surprised you didn't include Repede, he's honeslty one of the best Tales characters ever and he's in Tales of Vesperia/Vesperia Definitive Edition to :3
Will you make a list of enemy units with cool styles you wish you could play. My list would be arietta sync nan the chimeriad the god generals as enemy units form abyss and xillia should get more love being very great enemy's that grow make you want to use them like in tales of the rays letting sync being playable. I hope arietta gets that treat ment as she is better than anise
@@xanndovo yeah and even the developers think so too with rays letting you play as sync and even putting him as a hero in the title. Main ones I wan to play as. Arietta as she is basically just as good as tear as a main healer and support. Sync I see as a jude with more physical attacks which is great. The chameriad are all a group you wouls love to play as with the perfect team set up with gauis attacker. Wingul attack support caster. Presea healer agria heavy and jaio pure muscle. And add muzet for main healer and that's a team. I also forgot avar I wish he was playable as his style and skills went to ludger so I guess the creators liked it too. Vesperia nan is the only one enemy I like aside alexie style as nan is the perfect support attack with her range. Symphonia 2 I would have loves decus and alice become allies as they would fit perfectly with Emil and Marta with emil being a full attacker. Marta half and half. Alice full support healer and decus sub attacker. Thr game would have been so much better if it happened. Throw in that red hair guy and put them in a diffrent world and it would be a nice game.

From the ones I've played I absolutely love Stahn, Ruttee, Philia, Yuri, Estelle and the whole cast of Berseria Edit; I completely forgot Arche who I LOVE she is so cutr casting spells from her lil broomstick.

Lloyd, Genis and Raine were permanent party members (best physical and magical attack, and best healing), and the last slot would rotate depending on who was available that part in the story (Sheena, Collette, or Kratos/Zelos). I've never had any desire to use Regal out of any playthroughs
Yeah I'll admit first couple playthrough I was all Yuri However eventually I mained Raven.....then I mained Judith....but I occasionally snuck some OP Rita into the fray. And now somehow I'm maining Estelle. World's a strange place. I was only playing her for the time being because I wanted to play Flynn now that I can with the definitive edition but by the time I got him I was too much into playing Estelle. So I guess I'm an Estelle main now. *shrug*

Zaffre, you're missing out not having played tales of destiny remake. Yeah, it's japanese only, but a guide suffices enough. it's a slightly lighter version of tales of graces but in 2d.
I've only played Vesperia and Berseria and so far Eleanor is my favorite. Sooo satisfying with her burst arts and I love comboing violet ray into the thunder one (don't remember its name)
I would've loved to play Rita or Judith in Vesperia but Yuri is the most OP main protag in the tales games I have played so far. After decking out with all Super Chain skills OL boosts and Combo Plus skills, I just kept breaking the game and turning bosses into glorified punching bags

You can set any character as your overworld/map/town exploration character in most, if not *all* Tales games. In some games, such as Rebirth, this is even required to get info or progress story elements!
Patty wouldn’t have been my number one but damnit she’s close! Tear doesn’t get enough love IMO she’s not in the same tier as Rita or Musee but I just feel like we don’t show Tear respect. It’s Tear appreciation day 11-16-22
My list is more of less the same but with minor changes Take out Muzet, insert Natalia Take out Sophie (I know I know), insert fire Armitized Rose Others I liked were Kratos, Rose base form, and Zavied, any of which could replace Guy and Elise And while my list to is almost all women, there is a simple reason behind that, past the fact they all girls. Women generally have more speed and agility while men tend to be more steady and hit harder and take hits better. In games all about fast action combo based battles, the women added speed and agility make them more fun to use

Presea in Symphonia was very fun to experiment for me. Give her the ex skill, "Glory" and suddenly she became the protagonist.

Yay! Another Leia main! I'm not typically into physical combat, but the staff was just too much fun with her. My other favorite to play as is Natalia.

elize either heals or spam negative gate. it only takes 1 second to charge it.

I've been meaning to play the tales games again. I'm gonna max out the Vesperia demon wepaons first and then play xillia or symphonia later on.

Funny enough Elanor still falls on my list since she's a great melee fighter too. :)

Graces had the most fluid combat in the series, but I'd have to put Malik and Hubert as my representatives. Love pascal as a character but she takes alot of positional management.
Captain Malik is a long range caster with a long range weapon. Love the fact that his usual is in direct opposition to his appearance. Also a big fan of his incredibly hammy incantations.
Hubert is actually more flexible than Asbel, Love how you can use him close and mid range.
When the wheels of fate spun I thought it would take us to Persona, but Xenoblade 2 works as well!
Yup I also played as Eleanor a lot in my Berseria playthrough. She's so much fun to play with. Also my 2nd favorite character in the game.
Oh Rita, the one in the party, that has the witty, yet repulsive attitude and at times you think she shouldn't really be there(never really joins the guild, at first). Yet, she is the magic spell caster mage, and has such an admirable sister hood with Estelle. I keep her in my party, when she isn't chasing down enemies like her dog is running loose.
I agree with a lot of these, and completely agree that you're right- there's a ton of playable characters that just nail their fun vibe. I guess I'll mention some favorites.
Graces F really does have one of the best playable casts in the series, and I can have comfortable and flashy fun with basically any character. I think my personal favorite is Pascal. There's something about having to play a mage that uses exclusively point-blank spells for maximum damage that just works for me. And that Cyandine arte? That pop-high damage slam just does it for me. Might be my favorite single attack in the series.
Etna is also my favorite from Zestiria, and her brother takes up the mantel in Berseria. I usually don't really care for "punchy" characters, but Eizen's ability to crank out his Break Soul Draconic Drive just makes him super fun to me.
For Xillia 2 I'd say it goes to Gaius. Using his boss techniques from the first game felt so satisfying, and he hits that perfect level of "average good-intentioned dude" meets edgelord to make his whole kit work.
Magilou is a fantastic mage, but Rita will always be my favorite. The power of her basic Fireball and Overdrive spells + Blah blah blah is just too good to not fall in love with.
My last off-the-top favorite is Presea from Symphonia. One of the only axe user slots in the series goes to a little girl with a tragic past and incredibly fun combos. Her hitstun is so good even her basic slow swings make monsters respect her. She's just perfect... as long as you have the Orange Jells.
Repede gets slept on in Vesperia as a playable character probably because his AI is hopeless which leads people to think he sucks (same deal as Judith).
Late game he's basically invincible if you're good at timing Gale Dog and has massive Range due to Illusory Dog on top of moving lightning fast around the field on top of having fast and easy to chain Combo strings. He's a blast to master.
For me rigth now the first character to me is rokurou, he is just so fun to play as, and has crazy damage and combos if you know how to use it.

She's my main in graces and I love her Ranger melee and close range spells it's just so fun!
Has anyone else given Eizen insaine attack stat and just had a blast using him in link encounters? Because that alone makes him top 10 material for me
The Ghost Ship in Vesperia is a blessing because of how it splits your party.
If it didn't, I'd have never played as Patty and never found out how much fun she'd be.
Have only beat 5 Tales but i very much enjoyed using Judith and Rita in ToV.
I auto battled thru ToZestiria until the final boss. Then had to learn how to fight. Then loved Edna. Heh

As of now, i'm currently playing Graces. Pascal's a favorite of mine. Overall though, either Beryl or Ange.
And the only right way to play Ange is melee.
Offended you didn’t put Judith on the list. Never before have I had so much fun with a character. She’s super hard to learn but once you know what you’re doing with her, she’s the ultimate “the floor is lava” character. Aerial juggles for days.
I can't say I ever thought about ranking the most fun to play before, so I like this idea. Though this is vastly different from my own list. I think Guy, Rita and Eleanor are the only ones I actually used.I don't often try every character out, but this has me got me interested in doing that for more games in the series.
If I had to my favourite character to play as, it is definitely Ludger. No contest.
I have only played Xillia, Zestiria and Berseria so far.
- Tales of Xillia - I really enjoyed playing as Alvin once I understood his playstyle. But to be honest, I enjoyed playing as every single character in this game.
- Tales of Zestiria - Edna is the best. And Dezel and Zaveid also had fun and cool looking moves.
- Tales of Berseria - As I was playing through all the characters, the last one ended up being Eleanor. Turns out, I unknowingly saved one of the most fun characters for last. It's so fun watching her twirl around with the staff and annihilate the enemies with her mystic artes.
Im surprised you didn't include Repede, he's honeslty one of the best Tales characters ever and he's in Tales of Vesperia/Vesperia Definitive Edition to :3
Despite being only at the start of the second act, I love playing as Rita wayyyy more than Yuri. Now I learn she can fly? Never switching
I thought Estelle was pretty interesting. Her fencing moves feel really nice ^^

Will you make a list of enemy units with cool styles you wish you could play. My list would be arietta sync nan the chimeriad the god generals as enemy units form abyss and xillia should get more love being very great enemy's that grow make you want to use them like in tales of the rays letting sync being playable. I hope arietta gets that treat ment as she is better than anise

@@xanndovo yeah and even the developers think so too with rays letting you play as sync and even putting him as a hero in the title.
Main ones I wan to play as. Arietta as she is basically just as good as tear as a main healer and support. Sync I see as a jude with more physical attacks which is great. The chameriad are all a group you wouls love to play as with the perfect team set up with gauis attacker. Wingul attack support caster. Presea healer agria heavy and jaio pure muscle. And add muzet for main healer and that's a team.
I also forgot avar I wish he was playable as his style and skills went to ludger so I guess the creators liked it too.
Vesperia nan is the only one enemy I like aside alexie style as nan is the perfect support attack with her range.
Symphonia 2 I would have loves decus and alice become allies as they would fit perfectly with Emil and Marta with emil being a full attacker. Marta half and half. Alice full support healer and decus sub attacker. Thr game would have been so much better if it happened. Throw in that red hair guy and put them in a diffrent world and it would be a nice game.

Richard is not bad but Hubert is extremely a balanced character for me.

No joke, I only play as Guy in ToA the second I get him in the party - so satisfying using frigid moon after Jade uses splash.

Her combos are amazing and not a lot of button smash like Rita(my second favorite in vesperia)

I'd say regal is the most interesting tbh.
@@Marcelo-rs8yh It's funny, out of Symphonia, Regal is the one character I never used. Lloyd, Genis and Raine were permanent party members (best physical and magical attack, and best healing), and the last slot would rotate depending on who was available that part in the story (Sheena, Collette, or Kratos/Zelos). I've never had any desire to use Regal out of any playthroughs

However eventually I mained Raven.....then I mained Judith....but I occasionally snuck some OP Rita into the fray. And now somehow I'm maining Estelle. World's a strange place. I was only playing her for the time being because I wanted to play Flynn now that I can with the definitive edition but by the time I got him I was too much into playing Estelle. So I guess I'm an Estelle main now. *shrug*
I'm so vanilla. I just have fun playing as the lead character in each of the games. =p Out of all the protagonists, I think Velvet was the most fun for me, though...
I used Alvin during every fight in xillia and xillia 2, he was a cannon of a character and that all I honestly need.

I remember once playing with a friend who I had play as Gaius in X2 and when he said "I have no idea what I'm doing." I said "You don't have to know what you're doing, you're playing as Gaius." XD
One day my Gaius in Xillia 2 use mystic artes and deal 144 000 damage !! XD !!

my heart honestly skipped a beat when i saw this lol. thank you so much! glad you enjoyed the video, but what can i say i love me some gambling so i'm bias. but definitely experiment with some other characters! so many of them are incredibly fun to play as and add so much depth to these games

Zaffre, you're missing out not having played tales of destiny remake. Yeah, it's japanese only, but a guide suffices enough. it's a slightly lighter version of tales of graces but in 2d.

I've only played Vesperia and Berseria and so far Eleanor is my favorite. Sooo satisfying with her burst arts and I love comboing violet ray into the thunder one (don't remember its name)
I enjoyed Hubert the most from the cast of Graces F, but everyone is so much fun to use!

I would've loved to play Rita or Judith in Vesperia but Yuri is the most OP main protag in the tales games I have played so far. After decking out with all Super Chain skills OL boosts and Combo Plus skills, I just kept breaking the game and turning bosses into glorified punching bags

Does it let you explore as these characters or is it only for battle?
You can set any character as your overworld/map/town exploration character in most, if not *all* Tales games.
In some games, such as Rebirth, this is even required to get info or progress story elements!

My list is more of less the same but with minor changes
Take out Muzet, insert Natalia
Take out Sophie (I know I know), insert fire Armitized Rose
Others I liked were Kratos, Rose base form, and Zavied, any of which could replace Guy and Elise
And while my list to is almost all women, there is a simple reason behind that, past the fact they all girls. Women generally have more speed and agility while men tend to be more steady and hit harder and take hits better. In games all about fast action combo based battles, the women added speed and agility make them more fun to use
