- In this video , Join me on an overnight tarp and bivy camp in Heavy Rain. Tonight we will enjoy The Holden Tarp Tent for relaxing in a rainstorm. After raining throughout the weekend the creek valley is flooding, but we safely ride out the night camped over looking the flood waters. #tarpshelter #backpacking #bivycamping #camping #hiking #survival #tarpology #bushcraft #outdoors #tarpcamping #campinginheavyrain #tarpcampinginheavyrain #appalachianmountains #appalachia
THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😁 your very welcome 🙏
nice camp. i'm waiting for our creeks to go down alittle more so i can go kayaking.
Thank you. Kayaking our Creek is a lot of fun, but catching that right water level can be a trick for sure. Yep have to wait for the flood water to go down a bit to have a great run, or ya might have to be crawling over some rocks for a while. Have fun!
Excellent video mate, it’s good to see you out and doing stuff and not letting the wet weather stop you, thanks from sunny but cold England ❤
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yeah ,if we let the weather dictate when we get out ,there would be fewer days in the woods. I definitely enjoyed just relaxing and listening to the rain. Quite peaceful as long as your dry
Thanks 4 sharing! Once I have had enough with super thin tarps I looked for an better option. Than I found Aqua Quest tarps. The version I talk about is the "DEFENDER". Dual coated with DWR + TPU, strong, good, 20.000 milimeters waterproofing, lifetime warranty.
Maybe that might interest you.
@torsten4757…. Such a good recommendation. I have a 10 x 10 Aqua Quest Defender tarp. It’s the heaviest of my poly / nylon tarps, but for good reason and it’s never let me down. Have configured it as a tarp tent for overnight camping and it’s perfect.
@HuntCreekBushcraft thanks 👍🏼
I know which one your talking about, yes that is the one I want to get. Great reviews and they have many colors and camo patterns to choose from. Thank you for the suggestion, I definitely like to hear about any options to look at. Especially from someone who has experience with the product.
Great video.
Thanks! Much appreciated 🙏
Great video, thanks for sharing 🤙🏻👊🏻
Thank you , so glad you enjoyed it. Relaxing evening listening to the rain 👊
Another nice outing…wish I had some warmer weather up here in SE Michigan…Woody the woodchuck says an early spring but who knows. Have fun stay safe.
Thanks, you too! It has been quite the temperature change here lately. it feels like spring is already here. But plenty of time for it to switch again. No matter if that critter sees his shadow or not, 6 more weeks till spring, 😁
Made the holden tent yesterday down by my creek. Nice set up !
Right on, nice ! It is definitely a great shelter. 👍 have fun
Nothing like a great evening in the woods.
For sure!
Thanks for another adventure. Loving your low key style. Camping in rain can be a blast as long as you're warm & reasonably dry.. Tho I gotta say, a campfire would have been awesome, lol. Sacrifices were made. Be well.
Thank you very much! Yeah I agree can't beat the campfire, makes the ambiance of the evening so much better. I had dry tinder and some evergreen trees close by to get dead branches from to get one started. But the rain definitely would have made it quite the chore to keep it going. Further steps good have been taken to help, like hanging my poncho to protect the fire pit, but have to say it was very chill to just relax and enjoy the sound of the rain
What a great video! I really enjoyed being able to see an overnight camp using the Holden tent configuration. Nothing like the sound of rain on a tarp. Looks like you had a lot of it. That water rising reminds me of Hunt Creek here on our farm. It can rise alarmingly fast after a hard rain. Lost a good trail camera in a flash flood, not realizing the power and height that water could reach. (Expensive note to self). Good that you were camped up high. Sounds like you’ve gotten your $40 worth out of your tarp! 👍 A lesser man would have pitched it after the center tie out failed. (No pun intended. 😆) Thanks for taking us along on your rainy adventure, Mud! Never a disappointing video on your channel.
Thank you, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. The Holden definitely worked out great for an evening in the rain.
It can be pretty amazing the force of that water and how quick it can come up. We definitely got a good soaker.
I'd say I definitely got my money's worth out of that tarp. Maybe unintended, but the pun was perfect, 🤣. I'll probably pitch it several more times before it gets that final pitch, lol. Use it till I can no longer.
Liked that you showed camping in the rain. Was soothing listening to the drops on your shelter. You have it together. I camped in the rain once with family, got a room next morning lol!!!. I will be looking forward to your next adventure. Probably have not seen all but I’ll see if I can find any. Exciting to watch how you get your gear in your pack, out of your pack. Set up a nice area with good fixings to eat wake up to coffee. Then get everything packed away again. It’s really fun to watch your adventures. Till next one, I’ll be waiting!
Thank you 😊, it was very soothing with the rain drops. Glad you are enjoying the adventure
Awesome video my friend
Thank you 👍,
Reminds me of camping as a kid on the river and always getting soaked, was a blast even tho getting wet wasn't much fun. Keep having fun doing what your doing, enjoyed being a part of the adventure.
Yeah man, that's all I really remember is all the fun we had. I know that we were miserable wet for at least 2 weeks at a time. But what fun we had
👍☔
😁
Good Evening Bud ! Looked like you had a Great Time. TAKE CARE..
It was a very chill and relaxing evening. The rain almost put me to sleep before I even started dinner, lol.
@@AdventureswithMud Good Morning ! Good Deal. Have a Great Week. TAKE CARE..
@brushbum7508 Morning, thank you much. Have a great week yourself my friend 😁
Great video my friend. Let us know how you make out with your water proofing. Be a great video actually. Cheers from Cape Breton 👍
Thank you 😊. I appreciate the suggestion for a video, thats a great idea. It's a pretty simple process, just spray a good coating of water repellent and let it dry. But a video could definitely help a few folks, thank you
Hey this was a great little vid! I really like that tarp configuration! I feel like if I want to get going with tarp ground campin I’d better get a decent bivy bag.
Hey I was wondering if you had ever thought about doing a hammock camp with some cool hammock tarp configurations? I like my hammock setup when it’s going to rain really heavy as I’ve had several camps where the campsite turned into a lake or a stream😅.
Take care man!
NQU
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's definitely a solid tarp shelter. I think I underrated bivy bags until I got one. Even if tent camping ,anything goes wrong, you are still dry. I really like the MSS bivy I carry.
Crazy you ask about a hammock as I'm currently trying a hammock system out as I type. It's 6 a.m., and I just spent my first rainy night in this system . I haven't done much hammock camping, but I do sleep really well in them. I do believe some more hammocking will be coming in the future . Think im going to enjoy combining this system with my 10x10ft Tarp. Thank you 😊, you take care as well.
Once again... Mud conquers the internet!
😁 Thank you, my friend.
Awesome video bud. I get bleed through with water ikon my tarp as well. I just think the tarp get saturated that the water just comes through the tarp. Self Reliance Outfitters makes a 10x10 wax oilskin canvas tarp that I want to try out in the rain. How do you waterproof your tarp?
Thanks 👍, it was definitely quite the soaker of a rain we got. I wouldn't mind getting a nice canvas tarp, although they are considerably heavier for packing, but long lasting and a bit more fireproof. I will definitely check out that other tarp. I have had my eye on the Aquaquest Defender, a little pricey and a bit heavier than my current one, but it looks rock solid.
For the waterproofing, you can use the same kinda spray that ya use for your boots and backpack. Just give it a good coat and let it dry. What I have right now is a can of Kiwi campdry heavy duty water repellent.
@ thanks for sharing I’ll have to give that a try!
You going to do a snow camp?
We will see how the weather goes . I was hoping to at least get another one in this season. Future forecast looks more like a lot of rain opposed to snow . There's still a bit of time to go before winters over
