Highlights from the second day fishing and spearing on the beautiful Great Barrier Reef with a good mate Brad. We slept a night on the reef and scored some amazing weather. We had big tides with a new moon and lots of current.

Love your videos all ways good to see people having a good time and a bit of banter out on the water.
I fish in Victoria in port philip bay and I would say 90% fish bait. Those that are not fishing bait are fishing soft plastics, jigs in the rip and lures trawling for tuna. So its more foreign for me to see people not using bait and a exciting way of fishing.
One thing I can say I am more interested in rigging my own setups than buying something off the shelf. So I would make my own bezerker jig with a squid skirt and gang or snelled hooks. I have made a kogha style rigs for this seasons snapper fishing 👍.

Haha I thought the same 😂.. Mullet was acceptable as nobody wants to eat that, but Spanish as bait is teasing me, not just the fish 😂🤣

@@johnnychowjc I live in Perth mate and we regularly go out and dive for crayfish and we can spear on scuba over here . Still you get addicted to that under water scenery and some of that GBR footage is spectacular the visibility is awesome too. Lucky to have that on your doorstep! I am jealous mate!

Johnny. Have you tried using Chinamen as bait. Being new to Qld prev Melb now Hervey Bay may be do a post to show what you actually look for. I am intending to head to Lucinda to try to catch a red. Basically I have no idea what to look for.

Great video mate. Regarding your hook choices on another of your videos I noticed you were using a running ball down to a snelled hook above a single stinger hook. I couldn’t see if this was for dead bait or livies. May I ask what pattern of hooks you run on those two hook rigs. They didn’t look like circles.
Hey mate I used to run 4 gang hooks with running ball sinker as you mentioned. Now I like to just use the Berserker meatheads which have a sinker system built in with 3 hooks attached with a split ring. I usually like to use fresh, squid, mullet and pilchards. Hope this helps 😀
Great video mate! I'm glad you talked about using bait. Aside from it being messier to use and clean, it's always consistent and works! There should never be any shame with using it, I know I always will. If you can get onto a patch of decent quality live bait, perhaps it's worth giving that a try too... I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone catch Reds on live bait! 😎💪

Thanks for the support Gavin, yeah you can catch 5 reds per person in qld and 9 Nannygai but we usually just keep a few for a feed and let the rest go. 😀
