Do you do the whole overseas thing when it comes to outsourcing? Sometimes i find issues with it, when it comes to changes needing to be made. You'll reply with changes but they don't get back to you becasue by the time you wake up their workday is over and they don't get to it till the evening (your time). Outsourcing is great just not sure I love the overseas thing, but in terms of business costs its great.
Yup, 100% agree with you on that. Especially when the editor I was using was part of a bigger company and things started falling through the cracks. I’ve found someone else that still is overseas but is doing well, and every time I get the photos back I still have bring some in PS because I’m super detailed. For video editing, I’ve found someone local in TX and being in the same time zone, better communication, and decent turnarounds have been working great. Thanks for watching!
Related to lights on, and lights off, how do you handle rooms with windows that can result in odd mixed-color temperatures and that may be further impacted by the time of day when the sun is coming in? This might be especially important when there's sun coming in but doesn't light the room properly (perhaps areas in dark shadow). Perhaps you want the lights on because you're highlighting a light fixture key to the look of the room as well. You can see this decision can become very complex. Would you ever consider bringing your own bulbs that are 5000k?
Good points! Typically I judge it more for video since it’s not as flexible as raw photos. Most of the time I have the lights on for RE photo right now. I have some luxury agents that change out most of the lights in a home to be daylight balanced for this very reason! Not a bad idea to bring your own too, just depends if you can justify the extra time that would take based on your pricing I would say.
Dang, bummer! Is it because your computer isn't powerful enough to run them? You can try creating proxies which I though Davinici automatically did when you brought footage in
Typically I just upload them to Dropbox and email the link! If I frequently work with the same client, I create a master folder for that client and dropbox, and keep all their work in one place like their head shots. Thanks for watching!
How do you feel about delivering other services with the photo/video? In my country there is alot of companies that deliver measurement reports/3d images of the place. I feel like if I don’t I might have no place in the industry. But their photos aren’t the best, then again, would realtors really care?
A lot of companies in my area offer that too, but I guess the type of clients I deal with, typically aren’t interested. I think they use my business because we specialize in some of the best video work in my area, so that’s what we’re known for. I’d rather be really good at that one thing, than worry about offer every service I could. But yes, you could offer measurements, floor plans, virtual tours, and much more to stand out from competitors too!
Extremely tough honestly! Photo editors are way easier to find. I’ve gone through a few and finally ended up hiring my own. Usually outsource based editors don’t produce the best work so it’s tough. I got a referral for mine, so maybe asking other RE videographers or companies that aren’t in your area for referrals could help!
Hey! I’ve been watching your videos and I see that you use a canon r6 mark ii…. I would like to buy my own full frame camera, do you think I should start with a cheaper option or just splurge on the canon r6 mark ii?? I’ve been debating all day and I need help😂
Hard to answer without knowing if you’re just starting out, how much experience you have, or what kind of work you do! Depending on those factors, I’d also look at the r8 which is also full frame a lot more affordable with similar features! But if you go with the r6 ii, it’s a great camera. Thanks for watching!
@@AndreiRestrepo thanks so much for your response Andrei!! I am interested in starting real estate photography, not much experience really- I’ve only ever used the canon rebel t3i. Looking forward to your future videos!!!
The editor I use now charges a set rate / minute of video they edit. So if a final video they make is 1 minute or 2 minutes long, it varies. Some charge by just the whole project, like a set rate for RE videos, or by an hourly rate it takes them to edit. A lot of them will also be willing to give you a free trial on a video to try and earn your business
@@AndreiRestrepo hey Andrei, I know I already comented for the course but will it include how to learn flambient? It would be a good idea imo so we can learn a work-around method for different lighting environments.
Mad to think 2-3 business days is considered really quick turnaround. I'd love that but unfortunately in the UK, the estate agents want things yesterday. 24 hour turnaround is almost the minimum. Granted that's not necessarily for the highest end properties, we still have £1m properties in that sort of range. Estate agents in the UK have absolutely no idea how to organise and have no clue how to market their properties well. There's no respect for what we do at all.
Yeah, that’s definitely the case for more regular real estate! I guess I’m more accustomed to more higher end luxury work where they understand it takes a bit. But I think if the quality of your product is worth the wait, they’ll wait, and schedule accordingly. But maybe not the case for regular properties. Thanks for watching!
@@AndreiRestrepo The way the housing market is in the UK just drives it unfortunately. The way in which houses are bought and sold here differs greatly from the US which is another story in itself! Hopefully the importance of the marketing here becomes more evident as we go into the future.
At this point, file size isn't much of an argument with how cheap memory is, and I don't think any sane person is shooting Proresraw or some uncompressed RAW format for RE. That being said, 4K60 with additional requirement of wide angle around 16mm full frame range is a frustrating topic for most in the same tier as R6 mk2, since it's the only one that does 4K60 without a crop. Lumix S5IIX and a7IV both have 1.5x crop in 4k60, turning that 16mm into a 24mm. Even a7RV is a 1.2x crop at 4K60. That frustrating reality aside, 1080/60 with 10-bit 4.2.2 color is good enough to use in a 4k timeline without anyone knowing the difference. Even less if you use superscale in Davinci Resolve or something similar in other software.
True! What about 4k30? Sure having 60fps is nicer to have full control on speed and stabilization, but I never shot 60fps for years, just 30fps ha. But yeah, bummer those cameras have a crop! Thanks for watching
I'm in the Panasonic S Series ecosystem, and have been shooting mostly 1080p for the last few years (and actually exporting at 4k from Premiere) with no complaints from the estate agents. Sigma have just came out with the 10-18 f2.8 which for me will be an absolute game changer.
@@AndreiRestrepo Yeah, I use 4K30 plenty between my main camera and drone. I guess the main argument for 4K60 is it's more forgiving in post if you didn't nail the shot on-site.
Epidemic sounds seems great, but doesn't it get crazy expensive when you have multiple clients? like if you have more than 3 clients, you have to get an enterprise plan?
It honestly has been great! No, just the commercial plan. We serviced like 50+ clients this year, all with ES for any video work. 👌🏻 thanks for watching!
@AndreiRestrepo oh really? but it says you can only post on three channels per platform? so if I have 50 clients, I can give them each projects with music to post on their social media platforms with only the commercial plan?
@AndreiRestrepo Np, thanks for getting back! and what if people repost the project to their account? how does instagram know not to give them a strike? I guess it is only the person who uploads it.
This is an excellent and very informative video! Even as a pro, I can really appreciate always getting a nugget or three from your channel ;)
That means a lot, appreciate it greatly!
Love the idea of the short form course content at a more affordable price! I think this would make it accessible to more people
