  • www.vladtv.com - Rapper Nipsey Hussle sat down with VladTV, where he explained why he made the decision to join the Crips gang Rollin 60s, which he said came about when he left home around 14. He also shares what it was like being in the gang at a young age, which included an initiation that he says is different for everyone.
    Nipsey reveals that he was around the gang life at such a young age that he had to determine whether he was "going to be a part of it, or get the f*ck out of the way."

      Issuenoghost|| Lol water no I don't think many people did. It may be normal to you, you may be able to read between the lines but most people who watch this video are square n def don't understand that type of talk. Lil water, he said "My mom, she's a woman..." most people would be like no shit she's a woman, but he meant that she lives in the hood, and has NO gang ties.

    RIP Nipsey for wanting the future generations in your neighborhoods to belong to other things than gang culture but instead be involved with being the future engineers, creators, entrepreneurs...etc you understood that the environment had to change from ground level, you understood it better than most because you lived it. You didn't have to share what you were given but thankfully you did, those dreamer goals into fruition. A reflective individual that had a desire to want better for his community, the irony of it is that the more you gave and the greater your success, the greater envy brewed jealousy in others. But I hope that your death will not be in vain... let the marathon continue.

I currently live in Europe and his passing made global news, which is how I discovered his music and all the great things he accomplished for his community and for L.A.. R.I.P. Nipsey.

      @@cadbane6462 Bro, LA is an international city. It's not like the 1990s or earlier anymore. It's one of the safest cities in America. This gang stuff isn't really all that active anymore, regardless of what people say (yeah gang violence DOES occur, but very rarely and randomly).
      Even the hoods are not that dangerous anymore. I'm sure you guys have worse areas in Bucharest than anywhere in LA. There are some places that are terrible (in general in LA or even just America). But you have to be going WAY off the beaten path to find them. Also, no gangs or really even criminals in general are going to mess with a tourist.
      My advice, just visit if you want and just explore. The worst thing about LA is how expensive it is, the gangs are WAY down the list though.

    Dude came from a region where that was life, and he grew up in it. Regardless of his circumstances, he did stay in the community and poured his heart into his surroundings to try to make it a better place for future generations to come. He knew his city had a million disadvantages and used his reach/platform to make a positive change. ((People who don't know will sit around and try to bash him though.)) RIP to a real one and I pray that the people who he wanted to help and reach the most still feel the positive vibes and can be helped by other folks with that same vision.

      @Johnnie long and has since given back to the community and has given money to schools while telling the young impressionable minds NOT to join gangs, etc. He is also one of the known advocates of trying to unify the gangs, which would have been a great start to end a lot of violence on the streets, etc. I am sure you are smart and understand why some of the LA gangs even got started back in the day so I'll save you a history lesson, smart guy.

    • @easysidehustleideas
      @easysidehustleideas 5 лет назад +1

      @Johnnie long leave a gang (when you're in, you're in) - he wasn't actively riding around doing drive-bys or banging like that. However, he was using his influence to change the culture of violence etc. Do your homework bro. MOST people are a product of their environments (...this isn't a myth or a lie...homework/research this as well) no matter what it is. women beating, alcoholism, gang-life, etc.
      In many cases, the household or the young person doesn't have that big sis or big bro being a positive role-model, especially in locations where there is more negative influence than positive, etc...psychology 101.
      But you appear to be the type to judge a person from a past than their present and future so I have nothing else to comment on.
      You are entitled to your idea and impression of his as well as the rest of the world.
      I choose to see the good in people.
      ps. I'm from So-Cal so speaking on my insight - OGs will tell you that gangs were initially started to protect their neighborhoods from cops etc, but in the end it became something else, obviously.

    • @cytrax
      @cytrax 5 лет назад +2

      @@easysidehustleideas @Pistol Pete You both have good points and obviously see the problem from different perspectives. The biggest point here is that there is a major implication of 'cause and effect'. There are decisions made in the past that a man cannot escape, especially at a young age - decisions that effective define our path to future and how it unfolds for us. But I like the fact that Elgen pointed out the impact of an environment on people that live within it must be taken into consideration before judging superficially. This is scientifically proven to be true (James Flynn to name a few..) that most people are product of their environment - 'most' is the operative word and not 'all'. Which then brings me to a key point - Parenting!
      This is ultimately the biggest challenge in black communities. The parents are simply not dedicated enough to their children, and not necessarily a conscious decision, but starting with socio-economic factors. It parents (especially single parents) have to work around the clock to make ends meet, it ultimately impacts their ability to guide their children when the wolves prey on they from the streets. Russell Westbrook, for instance, talked about how his parents guided him from the street life. Do we think he would be where he is today without guidance of his parents? This is why I believe parenting is the ultimate key to changing this culture and effectively changing the environment over time. Simply giving back to the street is not enough as it is very macro. We need to deal with micro issues before we can start emancipating black children and inner city kids that see ganglife as the only option.

      The reality of being a person of colour in America is that you CAN make good, or better decisions, you can never, even, have been involved in any crime or illegality whatsoever, and this can STILL happen to you like it's nothing. People of colour in America need to take a step back and study up on how they're conditioned to accept being bad people even when they're not or never have been. Case in point, how many times do you recall seeing a black person in America who is going to college or University, say something to the effect of "I'm trying to better myself"? Think about that wording, not because I'm saying it, but because it has a very distinct historical origin, rooted in slavery, rooted in negroes being taught that there was something specific about THEM that they had to change, to resemble something more akin to 'someone else', to be good. All the gang culture, drug culture, cultures of violence and illegality, that we see rampant in so many urban environments, are just the later generations of that original 'born bad' bunch.
