Hey Kim, wow that TP was a great find and so nice of her to send it. I understand heat, I'm in Georgia and even with AC and ceiling fans it's warm in our house. Stay in the room with AC and keep those beautiful pets with you out of that heat.
I highly recommend a whole house fan, pull that hot air out. On cooler evenings, open a window or two and that fan and the difference it makes. Summers growing up, we shut off my attic bedroom, I moved into my little sis room where we had window units in. We always ran that fan up there though, you could tell within minutes if it was off.

I think that was cool n to think there’s still toilet paper of that area still around. In that time of area I’m sure people were thrilled to have it even though they my walk around with sore bottoms LOL. So glad to hear from you, Kim! I kinda figured the extreme heat had brought everything to a standstill at the house. We've been toughing it out too and it's supposed to be even hotter next week, ugh! The antique toilet paper is insane! It is amazing what ends up surviving over time. I do "junk journals" too and save all kinds of scraps for them. I make miniature boxes as well for teeny tiny paper dolls. And so happy you have a kitty as well as the dogs and he's chill with the new premises.

I hope you get some fans in addition to the air-conditioner. It helps a lot. The heat index was 105 where I live in Louisiana today. We have air-conditioners and fans. It is STILL hot inside. Please stay hydrated and put an ice cube in your pets water to help them too. I hope you both take it easy during this heat wave.
Fun tip for century homes when super hot. My great grandfather would hose down the outside walls and roof as much as possible each night. It helps to release all the heat that has built up during the day. That way the house doesn’t radiate heat all night. Remember too heat rises, so you can crack open top floor windows to encourage the hot air to circulate up and out.
This is fantastic advice thank you. Kaleb told me the bricks gather heat all day and release it into the house at night. Which is great for winter but phew it ain’t nice right now.

I went on a house tour and the home had a HUGE basket filled with old cards. It was lovely. Just a thought in case you want to keep the cards. It makes a good conversation piece and your guests could enjoy them as well.😊
Happy birthday Hank! I understand having a long lived cat: I got my little black cat Chloe when I was just 19 and she lived for the next 21 years enduring cross-country moves and airline flights. I joke that she lived long enough to graduate University! The vintage toilet paper is an absolute gem! Stay safe in the heat. We had one of those too! Huge fan like two and a half foot fan blades inside the second floor hallway. Built into the ceiling and when turned on high would suck all the air up and vented outside

Have you read any of the old books? By accident I read Silas Marner last year because I had an old thrift store book in the car and I was "trapped" there. I would have bought that tp if I saw it for sale!! No doubt having the old house smell on the dogs when they go home helped Hank, too. It had become a familiar smell.
